Food for the RU - June 28th

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

If you can post what you can bring in this thread it would be great! thanks

I need 2 folding tables for the food - (Kassia)

Some trays or cardboxes so you guys can take plants home ( I recycled most of mine!) Just everyone bring their own and we should be ok! Please don't leave extra trays for me... I am trying to simplify (goodness gracious it's really hard!)

Drinks: if everyone bring their favorite soda/juice/water I will provide the ice - NO ALCOHOL PLEASE - my house is a dry house. I know this is a DG open event but it's in my house and we are a dry family - since I don't know everyone's tastes etc... I will just impose mine!

FOOD LIST:

Kassia - cake - silverware - paper plates - ice - cups - napkins
Yankeecat - hummus and pita
Deb & girls - fruit salad/cookies
Celeste - platter of deli Meats & Cheese
Louise - "Elaine Benis Big Salad" with chicken etc. on top
Liza -Macaroni salad - Taco Chips and & layered dip...(very yummy) - Trash bags
Carrie - mocha chip ice cream = vegetable dip with fresh dill and an american hungry tummy
Nanegoat66 - brownies :-) and red potato salad.
Brigitte (Eglantyne ) german Potatoe salad - Skinless Frankfurter hotdogs
Angela ( daughter ) Lasagna
Nancy - mom's Humminbird cake
Sue - antipasto
Emily - american double chocolate chip cookies
Michaela - anglo - canadian oatmeal raisins cookies

I think I got everyone...

I'll look around for boxes, Kassia.

As mentioned before, I'll bring some homemade brownies, but probably not nearly enough! I can also bring some chips or pickles if you like.

I'm no help on the tables, though. Sorry.

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

I'll look for boxes also - I should have some upstairs...

I will also bring brownies :-) and red potato salad. Should I pick up plastic ware? or plates?

We are both very excited!

Worcester, MA

I have trays that you can have. I can bring anything that I don't have to cook : ). Of course I forget the address and time.

I have plastic trays galore. 3", 4" and 5". Other trays I will have to go and figure what size they hold.

This pallet of trays will hold 18 - 3" 500 trays would be nothing. Tell me what to bring. Food I will figure something out.

If David is still up for it, I'll bring that mocha chip ice cream I was talking about elsewhere. (Some thread over the rainbow...) All our boxes are recycled, too, sorry. Sherrie, those trays are worth their weight in food. Do we need some healthy food, like salad, or meat, or pasta? Or is brownies and ice cream enough (LOL)?

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Funny, Carrie. Since when do gardeners eat healthy? (Tongue in cheek)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'll bring a platter of deli Meats & Cheese for sure and...
MAYBE 5-10 lbs of my chicken wings...not sure yet as they taste best right out of the oven and I will have to pack up this stuff in coolers for the long trip down.
Coolers take up room that could be used for more plants! LOL

Goodness gracious Celeste! you don't have to bring this much food! I hope everyone will bring some food so we can share! Please just bring YOURSELF, some plants and some food!!!! In that order!!!!

we can all go to dunkin donuts or Mac Donalds and make it easy!!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Kassia...I love to cook as much as I love to garden!
Also...now that I quit smoking food taste better and my waist now shows it!! DH thinks is too funny that he can now "pinch an inch" on me! LOL

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

oh no!!!! Celeste, I understand liking to cook!!!! I love to eat... that's why I am fat! but I really don't care much anymore... good company and good food... can't beat that...

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

I'm with you Celeste. It's just as easy for each person to bring a little something and we will all have plenty!!
I quit smoking 2 1/2 years ago. How 'bout you? Food tastes so good now and we like to eat healthy. Can't get that at MickyD's or Dunkin' dog nuts.

Don't worry Kassia - we don't mind at ALL. You are so gracious to offer your beautiful home for this. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

my pleasure... someone asked me why I do this... well, for the obvious reason - I want to meet you wonderful people and have a chance to show off what you have so graciously taught me... I want to be a good student! and off course some of you are already really close friends ...

The more I think, we should all bring some Special K and milk.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

And vitamins - multi-vitamins + iron! and Aleve!!!!

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

Lots of aleve! Good call, Carrie. :-}

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

As mentioned on the other thread ,we are bringing

Brigitte (Eglantyne ) german Potatoe salad
Skinless Frankfurter hotdogs
Angela ( daughter ) Lasagna

Have to see about folding chairs, don't have any but we can bring a blanket. We'll figure something out.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Still deciding on the food as I am car pooling (gotta have enough room for the plants!) - however we will need ice chests and cold drinks and water.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Kassia - would you prefer we not bring something that will have to be warmed in your oven? I was thinking of bringing baked ziti because it will feed a lot of people. If that's a pill to heat it up (or if several people are planning to bring things that need heating) I will bring a nice salad topped with cold chicken and cheese. I can do either.

I'm sorry that I do not have any folding tables.

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

Ohhhh,you have a good point.

I know my daughter was going to order the lasagna because of beeing really busy that weekend with her 4 children etc.
Is ther going to be a grill ?

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

well, I only have one oven and was not planing to use the grill... so I think cold food would be better... I have an extra refrigerator in the garage that we can use so it will be ok...

I am going to home depot and see if they have the folding tables... it should not be so bad and I can use it later...

I have some folding chairs just not enough for everyone!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Sounds like a good plan, Kassia. I will plan on bringing a salad with Chicken and other good stuff on it. Before you buy tables, you might want to wait to see if anyone has some they can bring. We had two that I gave away....wouldn't you know!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Kassia:

Is there a church nearby that you might be able to borrow their folding tables from? I know in our area, there are quite a few places that would let us borrow tables.

I think we have some extra folding charis, so I'll ask Anna if we should bring them along.

I'm getting really excited about meeting everyone, some of you for the second time, and some of you for the first time.

Kassia, you made me feel so welcomed at the Round Up last October!!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh Candyce I am awful asking for things... don't worry about it... I will improvise tables if I need to... the more the better so we put the plants on tables too to make it easier for everyone...

Candyce you are more than welcome! Please memorize the directions so you can come back even if there is no RU!!!!

Fraternal Lodges, Moose, Elks etc. A school if someone has kids in one.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yeah, we could borrow them from MY church, but i don't know how we'd get them to Framingham and back.....

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

no don't worry people... I'll figure out a way!!!! I have friends...

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i'll bring something in whatever category needed except meat (that i can buy prepared).
When you say no grill, do you mean barbeque? Cause that would be super - everything's good cooked that way!

I missed this thread all together... sorry... I will remind you guys what we are bringing... michele- honeys mom is making a pasta antipasto.... I am bringing some homemade cupcakes... and if i have time a cherry berry pie

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

yeah, no grill available... sorry everyone... is too much work to clean up after it's all done... I am lazy...

I would like to make a list of what we are bringing on the first post so all we need to do is to read the first post and we will know what to bring... someone wants to start this for me???

I got nice napkins, silverware and plates ... oops forgot cups... I have to go out again anyway and I will get some... so I will make a list on the top of the thread... and if someone can read throught the thread and help me that will be great....thanks!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Please put me down for Hummus and pitas.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I can bring cups if you want

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I got them... thanks!!!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Kassia - I have a folding table - not a big one- but it's a table. Taylor Rental may have a few at a decent price too. I can fit them in the van if you need them.
The girls and I will make some cookies and maybe a fruit salad - sounds like there will be more than enough food!
Deb

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

thanks Deb!!!!bring your table.... I apreciate!!!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Kass - I don't know how to add my food to the first post in this thread. Can someone put me down for the "Elaine Benis Big Salad" with chicken etc. on top. If we think we won't have enough food, I'll bring additional stuff that might be needed. Thanks!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Only Kassia can edit the first post... I think. I'm waiting to see what it looks like we'll be desperately lacking. I have no culinary specialty that keeps or travels well.

Atkinson, NH(Zone 5a)

We can round up a folding table if you need us to..I have one, I think it loaned out to my son but I can get it back VERY EASILY.
Also, will bring

Macaroni salad
Taco Chips and & layered dip...(very yummy)
Trash bags (you'll need them to clean up mess

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I wish that everyone would bring photocopies of their no-doubt fabulous recipes! (Don't worry, I'm just fantasizing. Don't stress.)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)
