Spammer using Park Seed watchdog page?

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I see someone purporting to be J Johnson from Park Seed is still replying to negative comments on the Park watchdog page and asking the posters to contact him by email.

I don't think this person exists. I have twice emailed him as requested. Another time he contacted me because of a negative comment by someone else who happened to have the same zip code which was pretty strange.

It just dawned on me this might be a spammer just trying to harvest email addresses by getting people to respond. Has anyone ever gotten a reply from this person?

Random people can't respond to feedback, only someone who's registered as the company rep for that company (or has access to the computer/account of the company rep) can respond. So my guess is he's posting responses to negatives to make it seem like they care about fixing things that have gone wrong, when perhaps in reality they don't care all that much.

I used to order from Park Seed a lot in past years and that really is his name (LOL).....

Liz is correct - rebuttals can only be posted by someone who is designated as their company's representative. They have to complete a registration form, and provide information for us to verify before we'll approve their registration.

So if Mr. Johnson is posting rebuttals, he has obtained the login information for the Park Seed account.

I'm sorry to hear they haven't replied to your emails, though. That's disappointing.

I am sorry for your sake, but Park Seed is one of the best about backing their products for me. They gave me credit last year for 4 bad perennial plants that didn't make it.

I didn't bother contacting Park Seed after reading Johnson's reply to my negative review. I suspect neither he nor anyone else at Park's read what I posted. I gave more than enough information for Park to find my order. Johnson said I didn't. Have a small credit at Park for an overpayment I haven't bothered to pick up because of Johnson.

Whenever I have a problem with Park Seed or any other vendor, the first thing I do is pick up the phone and call. I seem to get better results on the phone.
Good luck

I used to have good responses from Park. Last year, they changed their replacement policy. I had lost every single one of the roses I bought from them and all but two of nine heucherellas, all planted in great spots and given lots of TLC. I did call and they would not replace any of them.

It's good to know he is legit. Terry, I'm not at all surprised a legit rep just never bothered to reply if I think about it. Their customer service is about as bad as it gets now. Doesn't matter really, after over 30 years as a customer, I simply won't buy anything from them.

There are lots of companies changing their replacement policies now, unfortunately. I think it's because some people abuse their system of returns. I know Wal*Mart changed theirs, I saw some of that abuse myself when I worked for them. People would buy a riding mower, use it all spring and summer, as a bushhog, then bring it back for a refund! And at Christmas, bring strings of lights back that didn't work, so old the "curl" was gone from the wires!
That causes all of us to pay for their wrong doings!

Well, I think in Park's case, they changed their policy because their plant quality has gone down so much they were having to replace too much. And don't even get me started on their seeds. I'm still pulling weeds from my flower bed from the pack of love lies bleeding from several years ago that turned out to actually be grain amaranthus.

At any rate, a plant replacement deadline that falls in the dead of my winter doesn't do me any good and I'm no longer willing to gamble on their plants.

I would never ever buy plants from Park again, but I get good germination from their seeds.
