Ruby-throated Hummingbirds Vol.5
You all are up and going way too early!!! But Yeah, they go up the pole! For some reason we have ants really bad this year. I don't remember them being all over last year.
Nanny, it may be early where you are but it's 9.30pm Tuesday for me and I really should head off to bed. I would if I could bring myself to extricate myself from the DG website. We had a shocking summer with ants. You'd walk into the yard and the smell of formic acid was very strong! We've never known them so bad. We don't use any insecticides or pesticides so thought it may be due to that.
DUH!! LOL
Well I had roofers here at 6:39 a.m.
Well there ought to be a law against that for pete sakes!! So you have not exactly had a quiet day then?
We had to have a roof put on the old house and I was sooooo glad when they got done. It was a very chilly and we were having the 2 skylights replaced too. Just about froze before the got those stupid things back in!
Anyway how this from yesterday evening
That feeder sure is a purty one....and the hummer ain't bad either!
Yah, isn't that cute. That hangs just opposite of that copper umbrella oriole feeder. They are a good match. I think I heard her say that it is very hard to clean though.
Very nice Nanny and Mrs. Ed and I love that copper feeder!
Rose! Where have you beeeeeennn. How are all your hummers?
OMG. Still so many! Remember back when… you were worried if you'd have the three hummers STAY all summer? hee. Sorry about the cranky PC.
Curious…does anyone who has established hummers live in town? I'm wondering if that might be some of the problem.
i just finished rounding out the HB and Butterfly garden so i'm sitting here waiting for a hummingbird. I though perhaps they needed a nicely mulched bed! ;)
NO HBs, just a cute robin taking a bath.
I am wondering if they will leave again to nest and also if some of these are from the first nesting. I know so little about the little things. I don't know about Hummers in town but the Hummers here have finally started getting nectar from the various flowers that are in bloom. We have tons of Ditch Lilies in bloom and they just about disappear into the big bloom. They all seem to be in manic mode lately!! I just said bloom 4 times!! LOL!
LOL. " I just said bloom 4 times"
You crack me up. Who's in manic mode now?
little 'sugar buzz' there Rose!! lol
Very cool Rose! I'm still just occasionally seeing males around here. Can't wait till the females and juveniles come around.
Trumpetvines and Honeysuckles are just beginning to bloom so it shouldn't be long.
Marna, that second shot in particular is just so gorgeous.
Hi Rose, a veritable swarm of hummingbirds. What a wonderful sound they must make.
Nice shots Nanny...I need to download my camera today and see If I have any to post! But first I must get some chores done! You and Marna make me laugh every day!!
Nanny, that second one looks like he is practicing for a high wire act...Circus of the Stars?!! Really cute!
Now that I look, I can't believe how many I see perched on wires around here! That was my thought too! Great minds do think alike don't they!! lol
Now that I look, I can't believe how many I see perched on wires around here!
sure, rub it in!!!
Nice pics burn and GM!
I have a few around here, the mature male seems more interested in the plants than the feeders. Tonight he came and spent some time at a plant that was on the porch just a foot from where I was sitting. :-)
Very nice Burn and GM!! I must get some posted one of these day! I just get warmed up and thunderstorms hit so I shut the monster down!!
Is he facing Northwest? Looking my way??? Longing for MY yard? The black and blue salvia opened today. Which is ironic since it is Pelle's b-day and she's the one who told me about it!!
