East Texas Potluck (food list)

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Since the last count I did took us up to around 50 I am updating the food thread list.
I've broke it down into categories and who is bringing something in that category.
If I missed something PLEASE say so.
from my experience in this last year we always have plenty of food but I've never been to an RU that has had over 50 people at it.
Also I have a count of 31 door prizes that I am aware of.
And I have printed out blank name tags that you can put your DG name and your real name on.
Oh and cameras???? bring yours along that way we can get pictures to post and figure out who is who ...hehehe

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

I'll bring some Hot Dogs and buns, if they have grills at the park.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

yep DdeTex checked and said they do.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

I think that each pavillion has a BBQ pit. They are in the shape of Texas, special :).
I will bring a ice chest with drinks.
I will also Dmail you on the door prize, think I have a rather unique plant for this.
Next weekend I am going to San Deigo for a Granddaugther's HS graduation. Wonder if I can get plants on the plane back with me ?
Again this will be a first for me on the RU. Not sure what to expect but looks like there will be some great plants available for folks.
D

(Maggi) Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

We can bring:
paper plates
low sodium herbed chicken for BBQ
fruit salad
a jug of iced tea, my special blend :~)

Gilmer, TX

maggi's special blend is great if it's what she had at the Grand Opening. I can bring more hot dogs and buns, mustard, relish, and onions. |That shouldn't take up much space in our vechicle. I'm still trying to make room for Lorraine and Marian on the inside. LOL

Jacksonville, TX

Mmmm, PMS Pie. I may bring Better-Than-Sex cake (yes, that's for real), or a Hummingbird Cake....Either way, funny names aside, they're both to die for.

Catlady, I have like 4 things of mustard, seriously, cause I got them for free w/ a coupon :0p Lol

I also have a boatload of plastic silverware, so I can bring that, too. Also, I have a very good recipe for potato salad ala Southern Living..it's got creole mustard, bacon, and green onions; no eggs and not too much mayo. I'll bring an ice bowl to keep that cold and botulism free!

a

Dde: Say Hello to San Diego for me...do me a favor and get a fish taco @ Rubio's...yum.

Tyler, TX(Zone 8a)

I will bring different kind of chips and ice and chest with pop. I have a beautiful Host plant I can bring for door prize.

Gilmer, TX

OK msdoolittle, you're in charge of mustard. That potato sounds great also. I might throw in some Rotel dip. I have one recipe that calls for hamburger and sausage, veru tasty.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

I will bring an ice chest with ice and drinks. Also bet my DW will do some dish, just can not tell you what just yet.
DD

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

I'll do paper plates and napkins, too.

Gilmer, TX

Lorraine and Marian, bring something small or you know what. LOL

Tyler, TX(Zone 8a)

I will bring a birthday cake for darkmoondreamer and Ken. Does any one else have a birthday at that time?

Joan

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

People who don't cook could bring chips, bottled water. Maybe a can of chili or two for the hot dogs.

Winnsboro, TX

I'm going to drive my car to Catladies house and just hook it up to her car and let her pull me. I know there's no way me and poor Lorraine are going to fit in their with plants, food and lord knows what else Catlady will pick up from the stores on the way to the RU. At least this way we will not be tied to the roof, just tied to her bumper. LOL

I'll bring a Blackberry Cobbler and a couple of other things. I'll just have to see what all I can come up with that we would enjoy.

Hummmm Hummmm Good, I can't wait to have PMS and
Better Sex...cake

You guys are killing me with these names!

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Yum--I can't wait for your blackberry cobbler!

I'm still thinking what I'll bring. I'll post something in the next day or two. What do we still need?

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

About all I can cook is a Cheero's cassarole and it might not do in heat........:).
DW will do a goodie to bring after we see what we need.
DD

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

if you dont' cook that is fine store bought works too
it's not going to be anything fancy. :)
Besides with as warm as it has been who wants to heat up their kitchen.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

We need Matchlight charcoal for the BBQ pits too, for all you non chefs.

"eyes"

Winnsboro, TX

Well I'm going to cook the blackberry cobbler in one of my cast iron skillets. I was thinking we could warm it up in someones BBQ grill when they open it and leave it opened for awhile. I don't think it would taste too good with the BBQ flavor or smoke flavor. But who knows, I might be on to something there. Texans love anything that's BBQ'ed.

Jacksonville, TX

Lol, BBQ Blackberry Cobbler...it's new fusion cooking, lol. (And don't get me started on how much I LOVE my cast iron skillet!!!)

Actually it will heat up fine on the grill, we'll just leave the lid open; no problem! We're also going to have to do the chili that-a-way. I can bring that if no one else does. I have some pans, too.

a

Jacksonville, TX

I'll bring a vege. salad and matchlight charcoal.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm bringing potato salad, plastic cups, matchlight charcoal...my friend Regine is bringing a salad of some sort.

East of Nacogdoches, TX(Zone 8a)

Asian 3 bean salad (Ellie Krieger's)

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

I'll bring sweet tea... 3 gallons.... peach pies.. fresh vegie salad... I have lots of weiners in the freezer, if the ones bringing them will need some more..LMK

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

I can pick up something along the way. Is there anything that we are still without? A cake is easy enough to pick up but is there anything that we really need?
Caren

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ummmmmmm maybe some chips?, plastic silverware, cups?
whatever you think or strikes your fancy?

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

I can bring plastic forks and some chips.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, I'll bring a bag of chips and another dessert.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

I have plastic silverware left from the Buffalo RU that I will bring. I have two boxes of it. I will bring brownies and a fruit tray with fresh fruit including fresh from the garden blackberries.

Charlene

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)
