Deleting Old D-mails

Gilmer, TX

Dave or Terry,
Is there anyway to just delete old D-mails. I went thru mine and put alot in various folders, but there are some I just don't need anymore. Some were from 2005 about cuttings I had. I looked, but couldn't find anything.

You can sort of delete them--if you open the message you want to delete, you'll see a link at the top that says delete this. That will move it to your deleted folder. It doesn't truly get deleted, but you don't have to look at it anymore when you go into your inbox (the reason it can't truly be deleted is that a dmail isn't really a mail, it's a private thread between you and the person you were dmailing, so if it truly got deleted on your end then it would also be deleted on their end, and they might not want it deleted. So the "deleted" folder was the solution to that.

Thanks ecrane, I'm going to take care of the problem now.

On another forum I am on the priate emails add up like crazy. What we have is you can check the box to deltele the email on your end. It deltes it from your in folder, but the ones you sent don't delte until the person on the other end deltels theres too. Then they both wil be gone.

We routinely have email cleanup, gets rid of them emails from 7 years ago and useless anymore and frees up lots of room and space on the site.

Maybe Dave could set up somethign like that?

I think if that was something that was easy for Dave to do he would have already done it. Personally I don't see anything wrong with the delete folder the way it's set up, you can "delete" it out of your inbox so you don't have to see it, and it's not like we have storage limits on how many dmails we can have, so from the standpoint of us as users of the site I don't see why it matters if it's really deleted vs just put in the delete folder which you don't ever have to look at if you don't want to.
