For all us PNW from Jeff Foxworthy (smile)
Wow! Looks like something a Knight could joist with!
i know! isnt that so cool though! he saw it and thought that i would like it.. and he was right. love the weird and unusual stuff.
What a hoot!!
you're right, it does look like a lance. That's cool!
Wow, can you believe, I just heard on the news tonight that Willametter Pass Skii area is going to open again this weekend. Is that crazy or what. It closed right before or after that heat wave, but that's usually about when it closes anyhow..... then to open again in June! What the heck? Oh, and thanks for the heads up on that snow thing Sally! We were working today at around 4000' and it definitely did happen, although it melted by nine or 10. But, it's supposed to be back again tonight. So, I'm sure that I'll be an ice cube once again tomorrow!
There's apparently snow in the passes here in Washington also. Very strange year.
I just spoke with a friend in New York City, where it has been 95 degrees and humid. That is equally, if not more unpleasant than our extended winter weather. I am going to my friend's wedding there in August, and she was explaining what to wear to her wedding, which will be at the ocean on the beach. "Casual beach wear, you know, your nice flip-flops" Hmmm. I think about what I usually wear to the beach...where the wind blows and it is drizzling....jeans and rubber boots, with a sweater and wide brimmed waterproof hat. Somehow, I don't think that will work for this. I don't even own a pair of sandals, and my shoes are gore-tex lined leather lace-ups.
Well, you would make quite the fashion statement if you did go that way. I would like to see that! besides, I think you have good taste in clothes! So, are you going to get new clothes or go as an pacificnorthwestern? I think I would like our weather better than the hot stuff if I didn't have to be out in the snow in June. By this time of year my crew and I getting prepared to take on the july heat waves, usually! Instead.... there's snow. By fall the mindset has changed and we're getting prepared for the snow season and it all seams good. This just seems weird. However, I do like having the ability to justify making a bonfire at lunchtime!!! ok... technically it's supposed to be a warming fire :-p....

Any time, redchic. I took Mom to lunch today and had to dig out some of my warmer clothes, it was down right chilly. Here's hoping the weatherman is right and it starts warming up tomorrow. Have fun in the snow.
I sure hope so! Actually, it looked pretty decent from thurs- tue. Whaddya know.... spring might be here! What was the high for today in the area anyhow? Do you know? I missed that part, I think that I was still puzzling over the skiing stuff!
Holly, you will have to wear a T shirt that saids:
I'm from the PNW
And this is
How we dress.
And put lots of flowers on it, and your boots.
^_^
redchic... what do you do for a job that keeps you outside like that? and i thought i had it bad at times doing my yard maintenance stuff in the drizzle! lol which by the way all i have a total of 5 clients and that only in 2 weeks so not to bad! I will be hitting up a few of the smaller businesses to see if they will keep me on for their maintenace too. soem of these folks jsut dont care what the outside of their biz looks like... not very professional.
and i think tillys got it jsut right for the wedding... lol.
Did I catch this right? Pour water in the boots in order to keep feet cool and prevent self from dying of heat exhaustion. Put flower bouquets in the boots (with stems in the water so they stay fresh and nice). And wear a PNW T-shirt to identify where the emergency crew should send me if I do suffer delirium from extended heat and sunshine.
LOL You got it,
Just think you might start a new tend, Please post the pics.
Yep, i think you got it mauryhill! and then take a picture!
Sounds like things are really picking up for you shokami! that's great. I occasionally do some landscaping on the side, but mostly for friends that beg me to help them :-p. What amazes me more though, is the horror stories that I hear from people they hired before that did it backwards the first time. So there needs to be more folks out there like you! My primary job is supervising youth crews doing work out in the woods, secondary is at a plant nursery.
Ya know Shokami, I was just looking in the plant files at rhody night editor to see if anyone else had said anything about it and I saw that it was said to grow in Coos bay Oregon. I thought... huh, I bet that was Shokami. Then I scrolled back up the page and saw that you had posted another picture of it. My mind I guess sometimes my mind loads things faster than my computer loads pictures.
no one said putting water in the boots... but yah know ... thats a great idea! LOL :P and the flowers are a lovely touch too :) don't forget you need to wear an identifing tag too.. like the kids.."to whom ever finds me...give me a hug, put some daisies in my hands and send me off home!" rofl
red... night editor is such a cool rhodie. so different from the others.. check out my blog for my rhodie page. lots.. i need to add some more. right now i have about 55 different varieties of rhodies that bloom from feb - june. so cool
I agree, they're hard to beat for evergreens with color. What do you have blooming now?
my sedums are starting to bud and will bloom very soon.. got some of my hebes showing really good bud groups...my varieties of creeping thymes are blooming..still got a few irises hanging on and lots of other grounds creeping things that i have no idea what they are!! lol
Show us some Pics, Shok. Love pics.
And thats what the T shirt is for, to tell them she has to go back to us, PNW. LOL
I agree with Tilly, those all sound great and show us some pics!!! What are you're June blooming rhodies (that's actually what I ment to ask the first time, but decided to leave the question the way I accidentally wrote it). They are so few and far between. My Polar Bear has several buds on it, but only two are open....the rest are at least a week or two behind! go figure. Then next should be the auriculatums. They have bloom buds, but they were hit really hard by the late freeze/snow and then followed with heat damage, so I'm not sure if those blooms are going to open. hopefully! I had to wait so long for the darn things to bloom in the first place!!
Wow! that's funny. On that gunnera shot and you were saying you didn't know what it was, all that I could think was.... didn't we just talk about that thing:-p lol. I'm impressed that you're daphnoides is still blooming as well as gold flimmer! My daphnoides is still in bloom, but definitely on the downside. All that rest of my late purple are done! Great pictures though. I love that spidery looking thing! I can never remember what that is called. I'll have to check out your blog a little later. It sounds like it'll be fun.
actually the daphnoides has only been blooming for a few days now and so has the gold flimmer. really late here i guess. fine with me.. more color longer!
definitely a good thing. And they all look really happy too! I've decided that the weird weather has made everything hear bloom at once! (not sure on that, but it's my theory) the spring wildflowers bloomed a month or more later (as the snow left the area, they bloomed), but now the late summer bloomers are out as well! Can you believe that the bachelors buttons and indian paint brush all started coming up about two weeks ago.... maybe about a month after the trilliums left!
Oh just love the pics, eye candy for me LOL
I really want to know what the opps shot was. I want it.
Ohhhh.... I've seen it in another forum. Darn, I may have to do some hunting! But, I don't think that the person in that forum know what it was called either :-p
Thanks
its a want to have.
Like I need anymore plants at this moment, LOL
The wonderfully marvelous Peruvian daffodil, Hymenocallis festalis in Shokami's picture
Thank goodness Balvenie! I was going to drive myself nuts until I figured it out!!!
