I turned the camera a little to look at someone cking out the iris'. Nope, they aren't lillies, she will move on and come back later.
Daily Pics - Volume 115
Thanks pell. Raining here, the windows are filthy, the camera gal is bad, but the subjects are good. ^_^
Love those shots cpart!
bsharf...how often do you go there? Great pics by the way.
Nothing like some soggy birds wallaby!
I'm at the Alligator Farm once every 3 weeks during the nesting season. I finally broke down and bought an annual pass, since I was there so much. I enjoyed following mated pairs of birds, and their nests, over a whole nesting cycle, watching the changes and seeing how quickly the chicks grew, and how the mated pairs behaved toward each other and toward the chicks as they grew.
great pics, dellrose. You must have a very colourful garden, witht the red of the Cardinals, the yellow of the Goldfinch and blue of the Indigo Bunting. How fortunate to have Bluebirds nesting in the box. Congratulations on the new bubs. The parents must have a great deal of trust in you.
bsharf, what fabulous shots of the herons and egrets. The baby Tricolour is a hoot.
cpartschick, you may have short summers and long cold winters, but look what you get in return. What a treat!
This isn't a new image of a Laughing Kookaburra in our yard, but thought I'd share it, nevertheless.
I was just about to click send, when a flock of Carnabys Black Cockatoos flew over. I'll try to get some images.
Posing. Unfortunately, a little too zoomed in. Now he's No-tailed Hawk
Great hawk pic Shan
Great pics everyone!
I'm been enjoying all of them!
Marilyn
Shan, Neat pics of the Red-tailed Hawk!
Great pics everyone!
Rose, I love everything about that picture. I love that they are all lined up and I love that it is on barbed wire.
too cool..
Thanks Nanny and Mrs Ed! I didn't think I'd get to see them before they left so I feel sooo lucky!
Nanny...You sure get a lot of birds at your feeders...I always have to go to the fence line or woods to get a lot of my bird shots! You are sooo lucky too!!
Here is a pic of the other little one that didn't make the group pic!
Imm. Red-tailed Hawk. When do they stop being "immature"?
When they moult into adult plumage. With Red-tailed Hawks, that's at about one year old, so in a month or two from now. Other species may take different times, some small birds get their adult plumage at only a couple of months old, while some seabirds can take 4-5 years or even longer.

Congratulations Rose! Their so cute!
Wow Deb what a great visitor! Congratulations!
Ooo, a quail! How cool!
Love that quail and everybody's great birds.
I was at the arboretum on Saturday and they had lots of Carolina Wrens with babies. The next morning, a family of Carolina Wrens showed up on my back porch! I swear I didn't steal them! Three babies were perched on a branch side by side. It was too cute and too dark to get a picture. I got this one today of one calling for his momma.
Wonderful shots all, and Rose, gee, what can top those Barn Swallows!
I was trying to ge a shot of a House Martin in flight, the only way the camera can get focused on such a fast moving and small bird is from the rear! This one was just going behind a chimney stack, fortunately I got a Dove just flying up to the chimney in the shot.
Hi guys!
Just got back from vacation and I believe I've just gone through 5 threads to catch up!
Lots of great shots over the past 10 days. :)
I was in teh Caribbean. This is - I'm pretty sure - a Frigatebird (female). There were about a half-dozen of them going at it with some seagulls over lunch in the water.
Deb
Great shot of the swallows, dellrose.
This is - I'm pretty sure - a Frigatebird (female)
Yep; a Magnificent Frigatebird, that's the only Frigatebird species found in the Caribbean.
And this, I believe, is a Masked (or Blue-faced) Booby
Yep!
Resin
Good job Debin!
