He is on the radio. I like to listen in the morning, cleaning the kitchen etc. He is also on TV.
First of June Blooms
I remembered after I said that .........that he has a crew cut and silver hair. I think he must be on Fox and I just watch CNN for news.
I have been disbudding everything in the house...........taking forever for streps one by one .......it is now done, except I came across a baby Space Dust that Kim either sent the leaf or the baby plant?????? I couldn't make myself cut off her buds as I have never seen her bloom.
Yea yea hip hip hooray, I am through taking all the flowers and buds off of my streps. Next come the african violets. I didn't realize that many people start disbudding the standard african violets 9 months before a show. (Trust me I am not attempting to enter an av in the show.......just practicing to see how many bloom I can get by following what I am told)
I am willing only to disbud the streps starting about 3 months ahead of February and then stop about 6 weeks before the show.
Nice pictures, Susan! I think that second one looks like Shenandoah's Sweet Talk or Something Special????????? I alway love purple blooms on avs!
****edited to say, Susan do you remember when you first started growing gessies?
I think I am the one responsible for running Snowrose off indefinitely (LOL).........I dmailed her a million times when I first started growing gessies.
I miss her but she probably doesn't miss me! Has anyone heard anything from her?

Morning!
Had to get my daily* fix* to start the morning off. A cup of coffee and pictures of pretty flowers.Makes my day.Beautiful blooms ladies!
Have a great day!
Good Morning Everyone!
I agree with Jannich about logging on to get a daily "fix" of all the beautiful blooms!
It's very, very noisy here this morning. The roofers finally made it and are beginning the process of putting the new roof on the house! It was supposed to be done a month ago but they had a few delays for one reason or another! I'm just hoping they get it finished with no rain delays! We are supposed to have rain today and possibly severe storms tomorrow. The cats are all in hiding because of the loud banging, sawing and hammering! It's been so loud at times, it sounds like they are going to come right through the roof!
The pool people are supposed to be here tomorrow to pump the water out of the pool and prepare for the refinishing of it and then the deck. By the end of next week hopefully I will be close to being able to move my plants and furniture back inside. It took me 2 days to get all of my plants out of there and into shady areas of the backyard.
Well, I have a splitting headache from all the noise so I'm thinking about getting in my car and going to run some errands and do some shopping for awhile!
Will pop in later this evening. Hope y'all have a great day!
plantladylin,
A new roof right before Hurricane season? You're a brave woman. I was living in Orlando when Charlie and his brothers and sisters rolled through back in 2004. If I still lived there, I'd be holding off on getting anything new until after August. At least your new roof will be fresh and on your house snug as a bug in a rug in the event of a severe storm season.
Seeing everyones plants and their nice green leaves is making me jealous. My Streps were all nice and green until about 3 weeks ago when the heat rolled through town. Now a lot of them aren't looking so hot... actually they are looking hot (temp), which is apparently the problem. I'm using 48" HO T5 light kits above each of my two shelves. Each kit has 4 bulbs, which during the cooler months didn't generate significant heat. Now that we've had temps near 100 outside, my AC is struggling to keep the house at 76-78 and I can see the effects on my plants. Browning leaves and burnt leaf tips and common on nearly all of my streps. Lower growing plants seem to be doing better, but the taller Strep leaves are all getting nuked.
I'm worried I'm overheating my seeds also. I have them domed for humidity purposes but the domes trap a lot of heat during the day. When I come home at night, I lift the domes and get a blast of hot air in the face. I don't want to nuke my germination mixes and seeds, but I also don't want them drying out. *sigh* Perhaps I'll have to vent the domes and just mist a few times a week to make up for moisture loss. This was so much easier during the winter :)
Just popping in while I have a few free minutes. I miss everyone! Perhaps I should start getting up an hour earlier to play on DG. LOL
MullettMan, I have a couple ideas that may or may not help you. If you'll put the Streps on the very bottom shelf, it should be at least a little cooler down there. Putting a fan blowing toward them to keep the air moving might help, too. The Streps could probably get by just fine with two bulbs instead of four, as well.
On the germination trays, if you'll set the lid just slightly sideways, so that it's still mostly covering the tray, but the corners are open, that will help some with the heat buildup, while not letting out too much of the humidity.
Don't know that those things will solve your problems, but they might help. :o)
I've got a couple pictures to post, but I'm going to start a new thread since this one is getting pretty long. Will add the link in a minute...
