Ok Dimmer!!!!!!!!!! I can wear a do rag and hang my keys on my belt loop....I admit I usually wear my Haynes Tshirts over my baggy work jeans but you have to see my keys. Thanks again........Granny can be cool when she needs to be (LOL)

Oh My Goodness ... Gail, You are adorable! You look like a teenager in that picture! I Love it!

I wear the do rag if we are doing any painting in the house! Many years ago I wore them out in public, all the time. I guess it was stylish back in the 60's!

Great photo's everyone is posting. Hopefully in a few days I will find some time to take a photo or two.

Oh ... someone was asking about chiggers? Check out these images: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=chigger&um=1&ie=UTF-8

UGH!

(Zone 1)

Has anyone heard from Starfly/Eunice? Hope she and Kerry are doing okay. I miss seeing her post.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Don't we have fun on the AV forum! Lin, I wore do rags all summers long in the 70's for sure. I think maybe I was a preppie in the 60's and hadn't rebelled just yet (LOL).

I just remember traveling with the kids in the station wagon with my do rag and Donna Summers blaring on the radio.

That is exactly what chiggers do to you in that site you listed, Lin. They are horrible to get. We have them down here if I get away from the house and towards the creek.

(Zone 1)

^_^ I was a wanna be flower child. I had hair down to my butt and wore those huge hoop earrings, and a flower behind my ear. Remember the bell bottoms jeans? Aaah, the memories.

South, TX

What a cute picture, Gail! I wear a dress, pearls and high heels and my hair is perfect every day, even as I clean the house. JUST like Beaver's mom on "Leave it to Beaver!" HA! She always looked so nice, even polishing silver. She did that a lot. I love that show.

(Zone 1)

Sally: Are you serious? I may be "showing" my age but I remember the time before girls and women wore jeans, slacks and pant suits ... it was always skirts and blouses or dresses! I haven't worn a dress or skirt in sixteen years, since I quit working! I do have a few pant suits that I wear once in awhile. Thank Goodness Florida is very casual. My daily dress is shorts or capris, t-shirt and flip flops! Or in winter, jeans, sweat shirt and sneakers! And, most of the time my hair is in a pony tail! So glad I don't have to dress up very often!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

None of my close friends dress up at all. Even when I go to Houston where I lived for 30 years (we used to dress everyday 30 years ago) no one dresses. You see women of all ages in sandals, jeans, crop pants, etc. We even wear crop pants and sandals to church each Sunday. (The minister's wife does, too)

The people I know who have lots of money do everything possible to not let anyone know it by not wearing anything but funky jewelry. This is a different world we live in today. In Houston and Austin someone will kill for your expensive handbag or a diamond ring! *by the way, I am not one of the wealthy just so you know (lol)........just saying that wealth today is never displayed and is considered inappropriate in a world of need, want and poverty both in the US and in countries all over the world.

Have you noticed so many familes giving to World Vision at Christmas time and other charities? My aunt started that in our family about 30 years ago. Only the children get Santa Claus.

Sally, maybe I am too lazy to get dressed up everyday??????? Wouldn't even consider it. People in Texas still dress for the opera, etc. but rarely on any other occasions.

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Gail that picture is absolutely priceless, I love it!! You are so stinkin' cute, both in the picture and with your personality!! LOL Your girls definitely look like their mother!! Can't wait for Dimmer to come and see the "results" of her shopping trip for you!! ^_^

Dimmer/Kim your picture with the violets in the herb pot is so cute, what a fun way to display them!

I'm a totally casual dresser too Lin! Jeans and a sweater in the winter and jean capris with a t-shirt or short sleeved cotton blouse in the summer. Birkenstock's for shoes all year round!! I love to dress up to go to dinner or what not ............ but for everyday it's all about comfort!! I'll happily be a 48 year old grandma of three but I'm going to dress like their mommas do!! ^_^

A pretty chirita tamiana that is blooming this week.....

Gail you are just too cute..what a great personality too..you got it all ..and you look pretty hip in that doo rag and chain..LOL..you are so much fun!

Oh my I am the casual dresser too..I hate dressing up for anything..LOL..put me in jeans and a T and I am a happy camper for sure : )

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

When I play 'dress up' that means I put on a better pair of jeans and wear a cute blouse and some wedge sandals for height (LOL). I feel like Brenda although I am 20 years older.........and that is, I may be a grandmother but I am dressing just like my daughters do!
I can definitely find out from the girls if I am 'pushing the envelope' in dressing too young.
I guess I have their permission since they never say a word when I show up for a soccer game, ballet recital in my Born's, jeans and Gap shirt (LOL)

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

I to am a person who would love to be in a nudest colony. I hate wearing anything that makes me hot... Soon as I walk in the door I get into a house dress... I remember back then ...LOL Lord have mercy some of the pictures I look back on wow was that really me..LOLOLOLOL
Hugs,
Susan

I can't figure out what this strep is. She just has to be Iced Pink Flamingo but I can't figure out how she got this big. I just took a leaf from Brenda's plant and started another one. I looked at the strep image page and she just has to be Pink Flamingo even though she only has two variegated leaves.

GUYS, I was KIDDING! I do not wear a dress around the house! Well, a patio dress maybe. Those are SOOOO COMFY and cute.

No high heels, I was just being goofy!

Gail, I know, no one dresses up here for sure. I like to dress up a bit when we go out for dinner though. Just because I grew up wearing a dress to church and school and shorts for around the house as a kid. It is nice to dress a bit for church and going out. People here are in shorts and flip flips no matter where they go.

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Ok Sally, now I am laughing for sure!! I could just see you dressed to the hilt each day in your pearls ...... ^_^ You'd always look fabulous but how would you work in that great yard you have or with all the beautiful plants you show pictures of ?? That was great, Mrs. Cleaver!! LOL

Susan I know what you mean about looking back on pictures ... what was with those huge perms I used to do to my hair, was I nuts??? LOL I really enjoyed your strep pictures, the pink one with the yellow throat was my favorite from your latest posts. So pretty!

Gail I had to cut my Iced Pink Flamingo into three plants recently as she was so big! She has been pouting ever since getting cut up but one of the three is just blooming again .... so it was the right thing to do!! I'll have to try and get pictures tomorrow.

This NOID Optimara violet ( I saved it from Lowes for $1.00) is putting on a show again, my daughter asked me if it was a "real" plant as it has filled in with even more blooms. LOL

PS... Susan who never had a perm as her hair had a natural curl and went every which way...LOLOLOL

Yes, thank goodness, the wider leg pants are back. The line looks great on most people. The pants that are small at the ankle don't work for most.

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Moonlight... Oh and I forgot to tell you I put in an order for some streps from Brennans and I can't wait to see them... After hearing from Nancy and then seeing the pictures Gais sent I had to.. Really I did, I can't help it... It's like a drug...LOLOL Ok off to AA for buying plants.
Hugs,
Susan

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow, you do have the addiction like the rest of us!
My name is Gail and I am a gesneriad addict.

(don't think I am ready to start studying the steps yet LOL)

(Zone 1)

Y'all are a hoot! LOL about being addicted to AV's and Gessies. That's how I felt about DG when I first joined and I began a thread about joining DG Anonymous. I need to go find that thread ... wonder if folks are still posting there.

Kim: I had no idea that Bellbottoms were back in style! That is so funny - don't think you will see me wearing them at my age though! I prefer the straight leg style.

Beautiful pic's Miss Susan! My DH and I have been outside every single day since Monday ... doing all kinds of pruning, trimming and clearing! I mowed the lawn yesterday and he did the edging and string trimming. We had 8 trash cans and about 20 of the huge 55 gal black bags full of yard debris. The trash men probably were not happy with us yesterday! Today I spent the entire day cleaning my back deck! It was such a mess you couldn't move out there. I had stuff piled on the settee and both chairs so you couldn't even sit down, and all the tables were a mess. I am almost completely done, repotting plants and moving plants around but still have a small space to clean. I keep telling my DH I can't see myself doing this much work for too many more years, I know his dear mom was still mowing her lawn at the age of 90 - I'm only 60 but don't want to be doing all the physical stuff at 65! LOL.

I wish some of y'all could send us some rain! We really need it badly ... so dry here. I think they are predicting rain for us next week, I sure hope they are right.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

WE need rain badly, Lin.

Speaking of yard work, I just don't want to do it anymore. I don't like reality...........just magic as in having someone come mow the lawn and edge, plant, fertilize and anything else that needs to be done in this heat (LOL)

I don't see any forecast for the next two weeks for rain as I have already looked on Accu Weather. Wishing you some rain Lin since we can't have any.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Forgot I took a few pics this afternoon. (That is all I do is look around for new blooms......when I die and my kids look at my computer pictures , they are going to start laughing as they are all pics of flowers)

This was mismarked as Circus Time. I didn't find out until I bought the real Circus Time.
