Hey very nice pics....you were right...that vanilla spoon...great photo opp!!! Petunias look familiar!!!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Bec,
What plant is the "Vanilla Spoon"??? I can't guess....

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

It is - African Daisy, Cape Daisy, Spoon Daisy - Osteospermum 'Nasinga Cream'

http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54500/

Has a very faint vanilla fragrance - I got it for a photo-op :-)

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Seeing lots of colors of osteospermums this year.

since somebody seems to like blue/purple- this is a wildflower called Venus' looking glass- rangy plant but pretty color

Yellow goatsbeard (I think) wild relative of salsify vegetable. I collected the seeds in Canada two years ago (3?) they are biennial so this yr is my first bloom. I have just read that the leaves and stems are edible, even taste like asparagus. But probably when young, not now that they're five feet tall blooming- gotta be tough.

Bec- gorgeous photos as usual. and your house is really nice. Love the plant shelf windows, you should show a pic sometime.

Thanx Sally - 'preciate it :-)

Don't have recent photo of shelves - but this was taken right after I had them installed :)

Wow -- there are no supports in the middle, just on each end? I would have thought they'd break with the weight of the plants.

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Ah - since I only have succulents on them they are fine - I make sure the heavier ones are on the sides and light ones in the middle - this is special glass made for shelving :-)

Looks reallly nice!

Bec--

I saw those shelves on one of my bathroom breaks and remembered thinking---"WOW! That is so neat!"....

I have those "vintage" white wire racks that you hook onto the mid-point part of the window by screws. You can't find these any more. They are "gone with the times".....
Same as those "ceiling to floor" suspension posts with 3 wire "arms" for hanging baskets. I have 2 of them also--they were my Mom's. I have not used them in ages. They are under one of the twin beds in my extra bedroom....along with all kinds of other "treasures".....like 2 huge wall mirrors. Under the other bed (in the same room) are 2 under-bed boxes on wheels with the larger Halloween decorations and my, TRULY vintage all wood skis. Bought them used in the late 50's. I understand many people collect these kind of skis....paying a pretty penny for them.
They are in very good condition. Can't believe I used to ski on those monsters!

Gita

You can see the window shelves in this photo. Mostly, I keep my AV's on them.

Gita, What a charming vignette with the light coming through the windows. It looks very serene. I've seen those wooden skis used as vertical elements in a garden magazine, but yours may be too dear to you to put outside.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Pam--

Yeah! Especially because I can sell them for about $150 to someone who is into hanging old skis above a fireplace or such, or in their club-room. Of course--this "someone" would be a very avid skier.
If you go to ski lodges--at the slopes--they all have old skis as wall decorations......

Need to get more pro-active. I sure would want to sell them!

I have one of those tension floor-ceiling plant poles. The spring sprung (after 20 years of use) so now I use it to hang purses and hats. I'd love to find some new ones.

You all have so many nice plants. That Vanilla Spoon is unique.

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

As you know Chantell and I are suckers for anything with fragrance - so when she txt'd me and asked if I wanted her to pick up a Patio Gardenia tree (from Meadows) I didn't say no :-) It came complete with tons of buds and 2 huge flowers :-) The smell is unreal!
