Question about new Co-op forum rules

Dandridge, TN(Zone 6a)

It's hot and I'm sunburnt and maybe not thinking too clearly, but I think I need a ruling on the new co-op rules!

There was a plumeria cutting co-op and now that it is over some participants are posting photos of their growing plants.
Another member cut in and said chat is discouraged on the co-op list, so they moved over to the Plumeria list, where the thread topic is "Updates and results to the recent Coop"

however, when I looked at the new rules, I understood the chat to be discouraged on co-ops that were "in session" so to speak, to make it easier for organizers to see orders. However, 1) there is supposed to be no co-op talk on the forums, as far as I know, but 2) I understand how chat after a co-op might bump the thread up to the top of the ongoing co-op list.

Here is one of the new rules:
4) "CHAT" threads are discouraged in the co-op forum: organizers can choose whether or not to allow "chatter" on their threads and participants should respect the organizer's requests for no chatter.

Please note the co-op forum is visible ONLY to subscribers so upcoming or past co-ops should not be discussed anywhere else.

So my question is: Is there a need for a post- co-op, subscriber only chat group?
I haven't been in many co-ops yet, but in the ones I've been in, people have been posting photos of their new plants on the co-op thread.

Lakeside, it seems to me that no one is really talking about the co-op anymore. They are just posting pictures and asking growing questions, and the Plumeria Forum is probably the right place for that. Old Co-op threads get deleted after a time so as to keep the Co-op Forum manageable, and keeping the thread alive with chat delays that ultimate deletion.

If people just want to post photos of their plants (regardless of where they got them from), then the forums or PlantFiles is the right place to do that.

We strongly discourage anyone from posting announcements or out-and-out discussion threads about co-ops (past, present, or future) in any other forum because the co-op forum is completely invisible to non-subscribers. However, the non-subscribers may be able to see the first post of a chat thread if it's posted in most other forums, or even the entire chat thread, if it's posted in a free forum. That leads to confusion and frustration when they can't find the forum being referenced.

We don't actually delete threads in the co-op forum - they are closed (usually by the thread starter) once that phase of the co-op is complete.

Oh, I see. My mistake. For some reason, I thought threads were deleted in that forum.

Okay, in light of the policy on mentioning co-ops, you may want to change the title and edit the first post of this thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/853039/ or perhaps Chris can start a new thread, showing her pretty flower without mentioning co-op.

Terry, If that is the case, then the promos for a dehydrator co op are not only slightly annoying but out of line. They seem to blanket posted in a lot of forums including Beginning Vegetables which is not a subscriber forum. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/853615/

Thanks - they're gone ;o)
