East Texas Roundup - Trade Lists

(Maggi) Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

OK, I'll just load a bunch up and we'll toss 'em out there! LOL!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Maggie... I know Phyllis will help me load some in the "lowboy"... if you are tossing any..LOL

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

what are we loading that is being tossed????
my head is still spinning from looking at Emma's list and everyones posts since this morning
but then it does get hot on the bus in the afternoon and when you have poison ivy on your hands and feet it's not very comfy LOL...word to wise do not go out pull wisteria vines, diggin and plantin in the backyard in sandals and no gloves when you know there are still spots of the dang stuff but you just didn't' see it ...hehehehehe.

question out to y'all ...my oldest niece is coming with my folks and will be with me Saturday. She is just getting into gardening and having a blast with it what do we have down here that would make it up in central Illinois? I'm hoping to get her connected in DG so she will have a place to go for help when she gets back home.
I will gladly give up some of my trades for plants that would work for her up north if there is any.

Humble, TX

Maggiedew I have you down for sweet herb 'Lippia dulcis'. If you have any pink or white butterfly ginger left, I would love some. I am also interested in any tomatoes and the malabar.

Becky I will get you some mexican heather. I will try to get you some sweet herb too, but it is hard to transplant without it dying. Only one of 5 plants that I potted last weekend is still looking fresh. Maybe that is why it is noted to be a protected species on plantfiles.

Emma I would LOVE a Ipomoea indica Blue Dawn-Dark blue morning glory.
I would also like a clivia miniata 'orange' and a fig tree ficus pitite negra cutting if no one else has spoken for one. I will also find homes for any 4 o'clocks that no one wants.

That is all of my piggy list!
Tabitha

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Emma could I have your Iocroma, a 30' banana, a night blooming cerius and one of each EE. Thanks.

(Maggi) Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll bring whatever I can cram in the van and let y'all have at it :~)

Ken may have to ride on top, maybe we can caravan with Pam and Lorraine, that way Lorraine and Ken will have each other to talk to as we're going down the road.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

I'll be bringing extras Phyllis.. we can put her name on some

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Thanks Beck I know I am sending some day lily and iris home with her from what I dug up here.

Winnsboro, TX

You know from reading this thread it sounds like more of us are going to be tied to the luggage rack than riding inside the cars. Oh what some people will do to get plants. LOL
I've been running around for days with a spade and shovel in the back seat of my car trying to remember where I saw the daylilies someone told me I could have if I'd come back later in the month after they finished blooming.

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Gee, thanks, Maggie. Can't you just see that? Plants sticking out everywhere and us hanging on for dear llife on top. lol

Humble, TX

lovelyiris you can dig some stuff up for me (iris or daylilies) and I might send some bannas, elephant ears, cannas, yellow LA iris, and a pink pride of barbados seedling. We will see how much fits into the car.

http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/31444/

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Tabitha... don't worry about the sweet herb... do you want some of my varigated ginger??

Charlene.. sorry I keep forgetting to answer you.... MAN.. it must be nice to have a DH that will be at your beck and call..LOL I know you are going to enjoy your "shade room" and so will your lil plants... Did you make in on the back of the house??

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey Caren, I am interested in the cup of gold vine....

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Just to let everyone know that wanted some of my plants . . .
I will be working on up-dating my list tonight and in the morning so I can be sure to keep up with who wants what. Also, to be sure on any possible duplicate requests that I have more.
Up-date tomorrow. Hopefully in the morning.

Marian . . .
Yes, I still have your Wisteria Tree for you and the other goodies you want.

Caren . . .
The Hong Kong is mature but not as large as the one I have in my front yard.
I kept this one in a container much longer, so I guess that is why it isn’t as large.
I’m guessing it is 5’ to 6’ and I don’t think we will have a problem digging it up. You will need to bring an old blanket or anything that we can wrap the roots in soil and wet it down and tie it with a light rope that you will also need to bring.
I will take photos of it tomorrow and send it to you so you can see the size.
I will also send you some information on the Bomarea.

Ok, I’ll just go down the list and read all of the posts and up-date my list that way.

Dave, I would love to try some of your sweet potatoes. The Beauregard if you still have those to spare. Isn't that the LSU sweet potato?

Caren, Did Trish get in touch with you about where we're to meet up with you Saturday & time?

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

I have all of the wants seperated out in flats with your names on them. Hope it is all included. I think it is about 10 flats of plants. One woops on my part is the monarda-J. Cline turned out to not be the red but purple, so those that wanted it, I'm sorry. Also working on getting the flowering almond but not successful yet.
Mibus- you have been here so any thing that you think will go for your neice is yours.
Madrid- I have a lot of 4:00's here. I will not dig them now but you can come over and get them. They have nice size tuber so we can just bag them.
Lorrain-Did you have me down for coleus and Rex begonias ?
Heavenscent-Have some special things for you, we will talk at the RU.
DD

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

DD let me put it this way she lives in Central Illinois which is zone 5 between (Urbana and Danville) I think it is so anything that flowers and re seeds would be great for her she is just starting out.... just have to keep in mind she is coming with my folks in the SUV.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Cannagirl . . .
I'll have plenty of MGs. I 'think' the others you listed, I have except the only Bauhina Orchid Tree I have left is the Bauhinia galpini, I will need to be sure it hasn't been asked for.
Also, I am out of the Pink Turks cap, but I'll bring cuttings. They are easy to root, unless David still has some.

DAVID Do you still have Pink Turks Cap?
If not, I'll bring cuttings.

NO more of the Bomarea Orange, so I will check to see if it is the Pink or Oranges ones that I'm germinating now, so still may have one for you.

I fell into bed last night so unfortunantly I don't have my list updated yet and will be working on that this morning so I don't lose track of who wants what.

Emma

I'm bringing sweet potatoes for the following:

maggidew
madrid2000
charlenesplants
beck5711
cocoa_lulu (Nancy Hall)

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Phyllis.. I have 1 plant for a door prize... but was wondering if the "Bags" of goodies like at the central RU would be ok ?It sure helped me .. being a newbie... and since I got one of the bags for my door prize... I loved all the goodies in it...LOL

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

DD, I would love to have a pink turk's cap if it is still available please.
Charlene

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Im excited to see your 'special things' DD! I love a surprise!!
Thank you!!
Caren

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Caren, May I have the two daturas for my sister's new yard and one of the orange and pink mints? I have two offerings of Monarda fistulosa that I am adding if you would like them or check my list for anything you might want.
Thank you,
Charlene

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

Sure Charlene, Ill get you down for those and I would love your Monarda.

Humble, TX

Heavinscent: I would love a micky mouse taro or two if no one else wants one, and would be more than happy to find a home for any of your mints. It would be a shame for you to have to replant! If you have any tropical milkweed seedlings left, I would love some of those too.

DD:I was already thinking about visiting you to see your rose scented geraniums, rock rose, and evergreen salvias. You also made the peacock moss sound very tempting. Getting to dig some 4:00s would just add to the fun. I have loved 4:00s from the time I was a child and remember them in broken colors, peach, light pink, and coral. So far I have only been able to grow yellow ones from seed. Maybe I am planting them the wrong way or too early before it gets warm enough. I am open to any seed starting tips.

Dave: thanks for the sweet potatoes!

Tabitha

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

I do hope we all pass some serious people holding signs that say they want to work as we leave the RU. We will need some help for sure. Of course we won't be able to fit them inside our vehicles.

Perhaps, spouses and children will need to take the bus or a bike so we'll have more room.
We of course would need to ride with the plants to "care" for them.

I do hope no one really thinks that they will get supper that night as we will all be in the yard until dark (or later).

Last night I dreamed of new flower beds and beautiful flowers blooming everywhere amidst a rainbow of butterflies. Bees were working hard pollinating and you could hear their friendly buzzzzz. A cool glass of lemonade was the refreshment of choice. Of course, there was a fountain flowing, a gentle brook, shade and and then I woke up.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Yeah Charlene.. and then you woke up in a cold sweat.. it's called "change of life"...LOL

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Dave if ya still have any sweet tators left I guess I need to get one or two ...mom has pulled out a recipe that she says is wonderful and I will have to make it so I best grow some tators to do this ...lol

Mibus2, I've got ya down!

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

This is what I have everyone down for as of June 24. If your name is not down PLMK!! This is also my packing list and I don't want to forget about anyone!! Thanks All!!

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi Caren, I don't know which datura I asked for, (cause I'm braindead), but if you have any doubles?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

If I may be so bold as to ask .....I was wondering if anyone has starts of any of the following I talked to my niece today that is coming down with my folks and this is what she said she had in mind for her sun flower bed.

Aster/Hardy Aster - I have some of these in a blueish/purple but could use some for another bed
Bee Balm
Blanket Flower - I've started some from seeds...but it's slow going
Coneflower any color
Coral Bells
Mums
Colewort
Poppy
Any kind of lily (I would really like to find some Rosey Returns daylilies)

I think most of the above though do well in mostly sun. I do have 1 shade/partial shade bed that has my hostas in it...but that is it. Not sure what else to plant there.

and of course, I'm searching for Crimson Pygmy Barberry

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Lorraine. . .
I would love some of your Silver Beacon Lamium

Emma
