SHARE YOUR POT PLANTINGS FOR PORCH AND PATIO

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

It sounds like a good idea for anybody.
Due to the early hour I forgot to mention my girlfriend built a house like that and rarely used her furnacse.
The whole south side of her two story house was glass and had a tile floor that kept hte heat going.
Good luck w/ your research, let us know how it works out.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks.... this is more research for our next house... we plan on moving in the future.... since this was our first house we didn't really know I was going to be into the gardening thing back then... and the slopes and hills around my house kill my ankles.. we really need something with flat property... i wear braces with steel in them now just to TRY and not hurt myself.. I do need surgery to fix my tendons & ligaments but avoiding it .... if i can

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Oh, ouch Allison. I hope you can find an easy solution to take care of your ankles.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I feel you pain, I have arthritic in my left foot and will need gurgery to realign the toes, pins ,drills, the works.
Do waht you can to make life better for yourself.
Become a "flat lander" soon.

Allison I know about banks and slopes also. I ended up over a bank. I could not roll left or right. I could not go forward or backwards. If my DH did not come rescue me I would still be there from last year.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks... it's something i have dealt with for years... but living in this house makes it really hard... when I do hurt myself it's hard getting around being the bi-level and my driveway might as well be a sled run... not sure when we will move.. won't be anytime soon... but hopefully someday.... we are both not old enough to want to commute hours and hours in northern nj... we both have a long way to go... and since i work for the state it's just easier if we stay here as long as we can... he works 10 mins from the house too... we just happen to land in a spot that is convenient for both of us... many NJ'ins can't say that so we are great full for it

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow that sounds frightening .... i would have been in trouble... he works nights and sleeps like the dead... I laugh about it now but the last time i hurt myself in the yard i called him for 10 mins... tried to get the dogs to wake him... (lassie they are not)... no luck... I drug my butt across and down our slopped yard ... crying the whole way and praying i didn't hurt the good foot in the process... and had a heck of a time getting up ... getting in the gate of the fence.. up the deck stairs...and near enough to wake him... now i carry my cell phone when i think of it.... gotta go get ready for work... talk to you later

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Allison! That's so scary!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Ge1836, gee whiz your planting hands must have been busy too. Love your term " deck garden" It seems far nicer than just referring to them as mere "containers". I store left over food in "containers". It is also nice you document them on a regular schedule. I will have to start that for mine. Love tub # 1, very bold choices that will meld into a nice group. Thanks for sharing and I am stealing ideas. Patti

I am becomming attached to other trailing coleus ,such as Green Olives, and an upright called Glory.
Its hard to picture the whole plant in a setting when your in the Rosy Dawn website looking at one inch pictures.
I like the lighter colored ones as well as the combination of Psycoleus and a Mahogany giant.
I keep a monthly pictorial so I can referr to them in January and make changes in the tubs. Some of the tubs have lilies and other perennials such as the dwarf platygodon and Campanula porch?
Thanks everybody. I love June.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

forgot to show psycholeus and glory
I'd love to be in the room when they give these plants titles, what a riot.
