Introducing the DG Marketplace!

A couple months ago, we started planning a feature where vendors can sell products directly through the DG website. The idea and project went through a series of changes, and today I am pleased to announce the first version of our Marketplace.

You can access the Marketplace at this URL:

http://davesgarden.com/products/market/

Vendors (or any DG member, for that matter) can go to the Marketplace and post an offer for a product for sale. Members can then view those offers and buy what they like. It's a simple system, intended to make it easy for vendors to sell extra items (hopefully at a discount!) to the DG members. I think the system will be particularly useful for vendors to unload massive amounts of excess inventory at a discounted price. It will also be useful to "get your name out there" more inside the DG community.

Sellers pay a 3% fee of the final price to DG for the service. To entice our vendors to start using the system, I am waiving the fee until May 14th.

So, come one and come all to the DG Marketplace and have fun!

P.S. I would like to thank the huge number of members who have patiently worked with me in the planning and development of this feature. It's been a long road and I'm glad to see that we've reached the light at the end of the tunnel!

P.P.S. There are many features yet to come, to make the Marketplace even better.

I can't thank you guys enough!
Ive been walking around the gardens seeing what I can sell LOL.
When do you think yall will get the other section up, like for "non-garden items"?
I think this new auction is gonna help a lot of people out!

We're discussing all the upcoming features in the DG Marketplace forum.

hehe, on my way to check out the Marketplace. Wishing you lots of success and all of us happy transactions.

Great job! I might suggest somehow breaking down the live plant category into smaller categories. I've only gotten through page 5 and already getting kind of antsy/bored. If there are 100s of pages I don't know if everyone will move through all pages to find what they want- it's just too time consuming.
I have the same problem when someone directs me to their trade list. I've seen some with 50 pages of plants they might or might not have- it's just too much.
Then again, my attention span isn't very good!

I love the new feature you added where there are categories and the newest offers! Thanks a zillion, Dave!

Dave: You've done just a wonderful job and I can't wait to put some great garden stuff on there and to also buy. I like the fact that it's a set price and not an auction and it's pretty simple and straight forward. I fooled around with the Sellers area and it appears to be really easy to list products.

It's funny, I was testing things out last Friday and thought...too bad this wasn't catagorized as the listings are growing and it's hard to go through them all! WELL, no sooner did I think it and it was there! You're a magic Man!

There really has been some great response and such a good variety.

Thank you so much. I can't wait to be part of it!

i don't know where to post a giant thank you to all the sellers on DG Marketplace. The plants I have bought for myself and plant I sent to someone else are magnificent plants and really surpass the quality of big giant vendors.

Check out these giant and healthy morning glories. Plus I got a real unusual vine from gordo this morning that is almost 3 feet long.
