I just sent him a Dmail since I've lost his e-mail address. Those poor souls...I can't imagine being so densely populated and enduring such a catastrophy. My heart's with them.
I just talked to another of my Chinese friends..they say...that most happened in Sichuan.. Prov....and Jianhua is in Henan Prov...so she says...it was not..a problem in that prov. Let us pray...he is fine..Let you know...
smiles..Diana...So sad...As Kim says..so many people...

Thank goodness he is allright so thank you Diane to let us all know about him ok.
Still so sad lot people out there hate to see that happened!
Wikipedia lists 2 earthquake-related deaths in Henan province. Who knows how accurate their stats are, however, considering anyone can edit articles. I think Jianhua lives around 650 miles from the epicenter according to one site I used to calculate the distance between Shangshui (Henan) and Chengdu (Sichuan). Either way, it is too close for comfort. :(
I am OK.
Thanks so much for your deep concern!
The earthquake happened on May 12 in Sichuan, a southwest province which is about 600 kilometers away from my place (Henan Province). Official TV says the magnitude of the quake is 7.8 Richter Scale, only 0.4 less than that of the 1976 Tangshan earthquake. According to CCTV, the quake claimed over 10000 lives and most of the buildings turned into ruins. What a catastrophy! Now relief is being given to the region from other parts of China.
Even if the focus is very far from my region, we could feel the shock wave. When it was happening, our school students were in class. We felt we were being thrown back and forth by some force. And some students felt sick and dizzy. Later we realized it was Earthquake. We teachers took immediate actions, and stopped lecturing and let the students be gathered in the open playground. A few seconds later, all came to normal.
That is it.
((((Jianhua and family)))) so glad to hear from you!!
Hey great news that you all ok so relief. =)
Sending prayers for all who have suffered...how very tragic!
Jianhua, Greatful to hear from you; sad for the tragedies in your country. How terrifying and with so many aftershocks, I've heard that people will not go back into their homes and are sleeping in the rain. We all need to count our blessings today.
Kathy
Thank you so much for your concern!
The whole nation were in deep sorrow at the earthquake.
Our school, both teachers and students, are now having donations to the disastrous region to help relieve the sufferings.
Jianhua
Jianhua, I don't think we've ever talked, but I wanted to say how glad I am that you are doing well...and how very sad I am for all who have been harmed by this earthquake. 600 kilometers really isn't all that far from you (for the rest of us Americans who don't do metric, that's about 373 miles. I had to look it up.) I'm so glad you are ok.
Thanks for keeping us updated, we were all so worried.
Thanks for your share!
The devasting earthquake is kept reporting by media.
I will watch CCTV for the latest news about the quake these days.
More relief is coming to the region.
With the whole nation and world's great help, I think the people in the region
will pass over the tribulation.
Do prayers for the people there.
Jianhua
PS. the epicenter is about 600 miles away.
Jianhua,
I too have been thinking of you and am glad you are 600 miles from the center.
I'm sure your students were confused. Was this the first, or just the strongest?
Your country is in my prayers.
Sidney
I will sure pray for all the people so hurt by this. I am glad you are doing so well.
