rock rose doing well here too this year--this picture reminds me I need to get this particular bed mulched, and get it done today--its about the last one left to be done, then I guess I can start over. In our heat and humidity mulch almost melts before your eyes July-Sept
I shear mine periodically thru the season so it will keep a mounding shape, I do not like this particular plant when if it gets "lanky"
beds are sorta between spring and heat of summer blooming cycles
Spring Blooms Part 5 - What do you see?
Christi, I think you're right on the money with that assessment. The plants around the pond have really taken off. The more I cut them back, the bigger they get! I picked the James Brydon waterlily b/c there were so many claims that it would bloom with only two hours of sunlight a day. I can't imagine that it's getting less than that. I like the foliage even when it doesn't bloom, but the flowers were wonderful.
Dmj, really pretty! I love the gargoyle too!
As are mine...between. Yesterday cut down the poppy and saved seed. A lot of the larkspur has fallen over and am keeping an eye on them to pull up and save seed. Pruned some of the French Mallow Hollyhocks and saved seed. Pulled the Snowpea plants and did last harvest. The cherry tomato has about done its due.
Cilantro and Mesculan lettuce have bolted.
Now starting the next phase.
DH just asked that we take a day of rest. He doesn't understand a garden of any description never rests. Miss a day and it takes a week to catch up. hahah
Elphaba, I am sorry that I do not know the names of the daylies that I posted yesterday.
Dmj1218, very nice flower bed, your rock rose is very pretty and healthy. I have one, but it is covered in a powder -like stuff right now, same as the crapemyrtles.
LouC, I love your water garden. I am in the process of a do-over on mine.
noid taken today
Really happy mix of color, Carla
Christi
Beautiful all of them.
Carla, did you sow yours last year? RC is a biennial, I winter sowed mine in hopes of blooms this year..so far no blooms. I'll just have to enjoy yours.
Is there any way I can talk you fine gardeners into another thread. I'm not on dial up and it's still taking forever for me to get my photo fix.
I didn't realize RC was a biennial, Lulu. I bought it last year at a nursery and it stayed a teeny tiny clump of leaves until this spring -- it didn't put up any new growth last year at all. Looks like I'd better save some seeds if I want to continue enjoying it year after year?
Carla
bronc, your mexican hats is actually clasping coneflower (having a fiesta). I just identified that one because it's growing in my yard, but has not quite yet bloomed.
