Oh Wonderful pics nanny!!!!! Handsome birds those Brown Thrashers!!

Thanks so much for starting the new Daily Pics thread!!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Oh Nanny...I am truly jealous! Those are great shots and I have yet to see a Thrasher at the feeder! If I want to see a Thrasher I have to go to the fence line in the north pasture and break my neck checking out the tree tops!! Thanks for the new thread too!!

Central, KY(Zone 6b)

Thanks for the new thread and great pics Nanny!

What in the world are you feeding? I've never seen any thrashers at the feeders, just in the fence row at the edge of the yard or in the woods!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Here's my new bird for the day - a lark sparrow. It's just a sparrow, but still new to me!

No such thing as "just a sparrow". Congrats! And kudos for IDing it.

I feel like these threads are on fast forward lately. I'm having trouble keeping up.

Great pics everybody and thanks for keepin' it movin' Nanny.

I would love to see pics of you whole property! :-)

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Sadie-Mae - I hope you get to see the male grosbeak! He looks really pretty in my book. How exciting!

Since I am on a sparrow roll, here's something I just watched with a chipping sparrow...

"I found a grub! Yummy grub!"

LOL, Very cute Claire! Nice pics too!

I was lucky - he was right outside my kitchen window on my path. I am off work for a few days and can't stop watching the birds when I should be studying!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Congrats on the new birds Claire and Sadie...very exciting!! Sadie, I was fortunate enuf to get a few pics of the Male Blue Grosbeak and have been watching for a female...so far no luck!

GM and Pelle, We call our place "The Poor Farm"....I love it but it isn't anything spectacular except for the natural beauty. We have the rusty barbed wire fences, falling down fence posts and some old outbuildings, but to me it is paradise. I will take pics if it ever stops raining (in about 4 days)!!! Very wet here today but looky what showed up on my make-do platform feeder...another first..

Harris' Sparrow!!! Wowers I am pumped to get the long shot in the rain pic!!

Great sparrow - now I have to look him up and see if he comes into Iowa!

Just caught a woodpecker, I think red-bellied, but will be checking in ID forum.

I just answered you over on the ID forum Claire. Is this a new bird for you?
If so;Congratulations!

Rose, Congratulations on another new bird! Obviously your place must be paradise since the birds love it so much! I would still love to see some pics!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Wow! Congrats to everyone's new birds!

In the tray I put some BOSS and peanuts and a little cheap seed with millet in it for now. It usually just Boss & peanuts. I find that combo suits just about everybody!

Another shot after they were done. One stayed for a minute in the tree.

Good one nanny, I've been wanting a pic of a pair of Magpies for a while too and yesterday I got it!

Lol, Marilyn, I wonder if the WP was taking the food elsewhere. Do yours have young now?

Joined by it's mate. I'm guessing the one on the left is the male. I saw one on a low branch on the tree near the house not long ago, as I tried to focus it's mate pipped it and they both flew but the camera was having trouble focusing through the window!

Has anyone else seen feathers on the bottom of a House Sparrow's beak? It proved too much for the male!

I was also very surprised, of the great variety of them. I never knew about the black duck or the Ring-Necked, these are new to me. I would love to see an oldsquaw, they're in our region.

This goldfinch, took a liking to the Coconut feeder, he stayed on there for a long time.
