Now I've Seen Everything...

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

Last night I was surfing through Amazon.com looking at planters. I've been looking for a plant stand, or at least a plant stand idea that DH can copy and make for me. Anyway, I came across something that I JUST HAD to share with y'all. I laughed so hard over this, but at the same time somehow was annoyed by it, lol. I just keep thinking, "HOW STUPID!"

Enjoy!

AH HA HA HA HA HA...Like that would work in the heat of summer! Priceless. I know, plastic plants.

Put on your make-up while driving...
Shave while driving...
I once saw a gentleman brushing his teeth while driving (true story)...

Now, water your plants while driving! Or pinch them back...or pull off a dead leaf. Or my luck, the pot would fall off and make a mess.

Don't we have enough ways to wreck!

I'm a plant-aholic, but this is too much!

Talk about an avid gardener..lol...

This thing really is priceless. I just keep looking at it and wondering how long it would take someone to get pulled over for having something obstructing their view through the windshield. It certainly can't be legal.

Or, imagine getting pulled over for speeding...
Officer - "Um, Ma'am, is that a plant you have stuck to your windshield there?"
Driver - "Why, yes it is, Officer. It's a combo container of Ice Plant and Moss Rose. Are you a gardener? Would you like a cutting?"
Officer - "Ma'am, could you please step out of the vehicle?"
Driver - "Certainly Officer, is there a problem?"
Officer - "Yes, Ma'am. You're being arrested for trying to bribe an officer with plant cuttings. Besides, I know that that cultivar of Moss Rose is unlawful to propagate without a permit. You're looking at 10 to 20 years here, Ma'am. This is a serious crime. Do you have an attorney?"

Funny! So many bizarre and useless things we can buy! You know, it reminds me of the little bud vase that was in the new V.W. bugs when they came out several years ago.

now if the car came with containers for snatched seeds and 'accidental' cuttings stolen from commercial landscapes...

I've never seen that plant before in my life officer. I don't know how that got there. Huh...

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Bah, what a hoot! What will they think of next?

Oh, come on, fess up, how many of us thought it was cute?

Yeah, I can see my DSIL seeing one and thinking it's cute...and then I get it as a Christmas gift this year....but I guess I could always plug the drainage holes and use it as a change holder.

I would buy it at the dollar store, as an ironic take on those silly items people put on their windshields. Why it would cost $25 is beyond me.

There was a period on the 80s where the thing to have was a little notepad that attached to your windshield. It was meant to imply that you were so important that you did business in your car, I guess. It was the sort of thing that you found in those airplane catalogs.

Have you seen the VWs with the little bud vases? I think those are cute.

But of course, I've got one of these, so I can't criticize others:

Ok, but that's COOL and cute. A plant could actually survive in that. It's fun.

I just looked it up...if the temp outside is 80*, in 30 minutes the interior temp of a parked care is 114*. I don't think many plants could survive that day after day, no matter how often we watered...

And what about that watering? What happens when you overflow...or the soil is too dry to absorb the water? Wouldn't it go right down over your stereo system...or into your windshield defrost vents? Oh, that would be good. Try explaining that to your DH and mechanic. Uh-huh, this is a good idea!

I want one for my MH. :) Then I want grow lights put in the "cellar" storage so I don't have to leave the plants at home. How about a greenhouse built onto the little trailer he uses to carry around his riding mower?

He has NO sense of humor:)

Ooooh, good idea T. That makes more sense than the mobile planter thingy. Don't forget to have a/c installed in the MH storage area so it's a completely controlled climate. Hmm, you may even need a humidifier AND a dehumidifier, depending on where you're traveling to. Also, you'll need a hose hook up so there is water handy...and warming mats for the seeds to germinate perfectly...a couple of fans too. Hey, you could have this all set up in just a few days. Sounds like a good business idea to me...converting MHs to rolling GHs on wheels!!

I almost ALWAYS overflow my house plants so that perlite and soil float out of the pot and make a mess. I can just see myself driving down the road drinking a bottle of water and realizing my plant was wilting. I then overcompensate and overwater causing a mess, which I try to clean up while driving and total my car. Then I explain to my husband why it was a good idea to have a plant on my windshield. "But honey, my african violets bring me such great joy and have a calming effect that counteract the daily road rage I have."

I like the MH idea and could incorporate that idea to my SUV. Who needs space to bring groceries home? I could put up a divider between the back seat and the rear of the car, install battery operated lights and start a propagating area there. Since there is already a horizontal divider, that counts as a shelf so I could have two shelves of plants. Being mobile, I could tend to my plants during my lunch hour. While I'm driving my kids could use spray bottles to mist the plants. It could work... lol

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

PlantMom, I am laughing so hard!! I have a Tracker right now and can't wait to trade it in for a car...but you've got me second guessing myself now!

I'm also thinking that if we did this just the right way we could make watering very easy...at the car wash. Just open up that back door and spray 'em down. If there are any pest problems we could leave the sprayer on the "soap" setting so we'd have an insecticidal soap application!!

I wouldn't plant anything in it since it obviously wouldn't work. It would just be symbolic. Just like my coffee mug. It's a functional coffee mug in the shape of a flower pot with a handle on it. I also use flower pots around the house like you might use jars for pens, the tv remotes, things like that.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Heathr, LOL, we still have a Tracker, too!

I drove the heck out of it, then my oldest drove it to death, then my
second inherited it five years behind his brother until they drove the
transmission right out of it.

Poor thing has been sitting in the driveway unattended for weeks now.

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

Karen, that's funny. They really aren't bad little SUVs. It sure was nice to have in the winter...we live at the top of a very long hill. I'm just more used to cars...little cars...that's one reason I chose the Tracker, because it was so tiny compared to all the other SUVs out there.

Talking about sitting in the driveway....I don't go anywhere very often, I'm a homebody. Ok, I go to buy plants, but that's really about it. Last summer our neighbor kid came by and asked me if my Tracker ran. I said yeah, kinda offended, then asked him why he would ever ask me such a strange question (please don't insult my vehicle!). He said, "Well, it never moves, that's all." DH got a real kick out of that. Sheesh.
