US Spring Swaps Received

Chesapeake, VA(Zone 7b)

Thanks Kelly. I have the cuttings in water. Everything looked great, I think they'll do fine. I can't say thank you enough.

Mel, ho ho, heh heh- I forgot about the sun rising in the east, and not everyone living in California.

Whitestone, NY(Zone 7a)

Dawn,

So sorry to hear about your FIL. That must've been so traumatic for him and your family. But I'm glad to hear he's ok. Not a fun way to come back from vacation.

Thanks for asking about my vacation. It was great. I just love cruises. It was a group of 8 of us, and we had a blast. I loved the islands too. How was your vacation? Did you hear about the woman who fell off (or was pushed off) the Norwegian Dawn??? I was on Norwegian Spirit, and we docked in NYC right next to the Norwegian Dawn (the same exact day that it was leaving..so that was actually the boat that she fell off of). What a tragedy.

So what cuttings did you get?

Gabi

San Francisco, CA(Zone 10a)

Yay, Gabi! Glad you got the box - that was fast, I just sent it Monday afternoon! Mark, the "snowball" cutting was from you (as was the verticillata "bronze")...and that mathilde has gotten passed around to a lot of folks as well. I just got it small plant of it 2 years ago, and from that I've produced 2 more good-sized plants in addition to taking cuttings. It roots quickly, and is MUCH easier to grow than serpens, another which is as hard as bella for me.

Where did you cruise to, Gabi?

Julia

Whitestone, NY(Zone 7a)

Hey Julia :)

I cruised to the Carribbean. The ports we stopped at were San Juan, Tortola, and Samana. It was an 8-day cruise, so we spent 5 days at sea (which I love - more time for gambling!).

Thx for asking, and thx again for the great package! Much appreciated :)

Jan,
Glad you got the box

Not sure if you read my above post, but I wrote the wrong name on the one that's labeled "incurvula". It's actually H. inconspicua.

Enjoy,
Gabi

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)

Thanks Gabi, you were so thoughtful looking through my list.

Jan

San Francisco, CA(Zone 10a)

I received my cuttings from Kim aka "Blue Eyes." Three nicely-rooted cuttings of variegated kerrii, minibelle and an small-leafed unknown (can't wait to see what it is!). Thanks, Kim!

Julia

thanks Mark for doing all the work to put this together. I do think this method insures fresher/healthier cuttings than the box, though that was was fun as well....

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm glad you liked them Julia! The unknown one I was calling incurvula...but I don't think that is right so that is why I labeled it as a noid. Hopefully one of us will get a bloom in the near future so it can have a name!

:) Kim

San Francisco, CA(Zone 10a)

I'll let you know when if/when it does...thanks again!

Allen, KS

I got my package today! Thanks Dawn
I got
DS-70 (glad to get this one, I only have a couple cuttings I got last fall but they arn't doing very good)
Kentiana (Not sure if I have Kentiana or Wayetii but these have darker edges than mine so maybe now I have both)
carnosa -KQ
carnosa -KP
Samoensis IML0192 ( I had this one marked on my DL order but didn't get it) THANKS!

I have them soaking in ST water so will post pictures later, after their bath.

This has been great fun, I hope to do it again.

Thanks Mark for organizing this and letting in a newbie.
Jo

Shepherdstown, WV

I received beautiful cuttings of compacta, lacunosa, DS-70 and silver spotted philo from Tanya!

Thank you, Tanya!

I even got a peduncle! Woo Hoo!

San Francisco, CA

Well, I guess that's everyone! Is anyone still waiting on a package? If not, I guess it was a success!
Ric- the rooted H. retusa cutting (and all the others) is looking good- I popped it into a baggie to acclimate. Thanks again, I really am very happy to finally have this Hoya!
Mark

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Mark,
Thanks......the swap seems to have been a great success for everyone.
As to the retusa......don't let it fool you, with its skinny leaves and delicate looking appearance. This hoya is a succulent. It likes to go dry and neglected at times.

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

Ric that's exactly how I grow mine, no water until it's dry!!

Blessings,
Awanda

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

I delayed my receipt of the swap and am now anxious to receive it....pleeeeeeeze? I CAN deal with hoyas (where laundry is still an obstacle!!! LOL).

Carol

(Zone 1)

LOL Carol ... I would agree with that one! Laundry? Hoyas? Laundry?

HOYAS! Definitely HOYAS! ^_^

Glad to see you posting, hope you are doing well after surgery and recuperating quickly!

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Ditto!! Glad to see you posting Carol!

San Francisco, CA

Carol, your swap partner is preparing your package. It will be on the way soon.
