OK, so this isn't a bloom picture but I took this picture to share with Brenda as she sent me these rhizomes when I first found you ladies last October. It hasn't bloomed for me yet and I have taken 2 cuttings which I successfully rooted but even if she doesn't bloom, I think she is just SOOOO pretty with her fuzzy leaves. I have her in the sunniest window I have and have been giving her some nice doses of bloom booster but I just don't think the sun is quite strong enough yet in Maine to force blooms. I'm thinking soon though it will be :)
It's awfully quiet here today, everyone must be busy. It's rainy and cold so I've just been "playing" for most of the day :)
Hope everyone has a nice weekend!!
Kim
DUH, I didn't even tell everyone the name of my pretty baby.
She's Kohleria Mother's Lipstick :)
Kim
Hello, Kim.......
I just got home and found the cutest picture of some other grandchildren of mine who were in their nanny's wedding last weekend. (The only reason they have a nanny is because both their parents are physicians and never know when they will be called in).
You will crack up when you see this pic.........as my grandson took a look in the mirror after he was dressed and asked the question, "Do you think I have too much black on , Mom"? I don't need to tell you that his parents were cracking up at him dressed in a pink vest and bow tie. My daughter said, "Mom, you would had to have been there to appreciate Jack in pink!"
OMG, HOW PRECIOUS IS THAT!
You have to be kidding.......THAT'S their nanny? I have never seen a nanny that looks like that! She's stunning.
But that grandson of yours....ooooh la la!
SO glad you're home! You have been SO missed my friend!
How was your trip?
Hope it was everything you hoped it would be :)
I bet those grandbabies were so happy to see their Nana :)
Welcome home!
XO
Kim
What a pretty young woman. The children are precious! Such a nice photo!
Gail:Your grandson & granddaughter are precious! Such Angelic faces! And, their Nanny is a beautiful bride!
I know you had a great time visiting your family and are probably resting up after these last few days! Welcome Home!
Is that little Julia and her brother? They are so precious! The bride's beautiful too- LOVE her dress!
So glad you're back!
Hi everyone...........I try not use their names.......as my adult children would 'die' if they knew their children's pics were on the internet!!!!!!!!!!
Next week I will tell you all about my trip to the other grandchildren's home, dance recitals, soccer and me playing Wii with them. I thought I did a pretty good job playing tennis and bowling, but my 7 year old grandson was lying in the floor laughing at me the whole time. I could barely get out of bed Friday morning as those games really wear a granny out in a hurry!!!
gail
Welcome back Gail..sounds like you had a great time....Can't wait to hear all about it...so much fun!
I bet you are a great Granny! SO important. I loved my Nana so much. Making memories is wonderful.
Gosh I know how the Granny being wore out part works...LOL I watched my GD Lydia who will be 5 months this month... LONG day...LOL Little bugger did not want to take any naps so she would cat nap and be ready to go again...LOLOLOL
Ok I said I paid 15. for the grid at Lowes and out of that I got 6 tops for my bottoms and left over pieces to make a kinda sorta one..LOL For me that works really good....
Ok off to read a few... Hope everyone had a great day... Gail your GC are beautiful...
Hugs,
Susan
Thanks for the warm welcome but those grandchildren (the ones I posted) are not the ones I went to see............not that I have to give you my personal history (LOL).............Susan, babies are much harder than mine are now!!!!
This is just the icing on the cake now.........baby days are over for this Grandma.
That is a great price on the grids when I have been paying 4.00 each for one tray.
Here are some blooming at my house right now- not all are Gessies, have several more orchids blooming. Hope that's OK with everyone.
First, my some of the buds have opened on the plants I got from VB
Potpourri- had one open when I got it now has one more. It's lighter in color than the older one- is that normal? Still smells heavenly...
WOW Diane! You have some real beauties there!
Your house must just look so pretty with all those blooms around!
Congratulations!
I said that to hubby yesterday as we sat on the livingroom floor playing cribbage. I said "Isn't it nice to look around and see a bloom here and there rather than just all green plants?". Before I found the ladies here and discovered the gessie family, I grew primarily houseplants & hoyas. These never seemed to bloom for me and always just were green. Now I actually get to see some flowers now and then and I have to say, I love seeing little flowers tucked here and there instead of all green all the time.
Needless to say, most of my hoyas are now residing in new homes or on their way to new homes and I now have more space for gessies *lol*
GREAT growing Diane, you must be so proud :)
Kim
Love your orchids, Diane! As soon as I can get fewer plants, I intend to really get into orchids in the fall. Great sharing...........thanks! I always wondered if the Potpourri really does have a scent .....now I know!
gail
Wow! Diane, Lovely orchids! What is the name of the second orchid photo, the Phal, looks like it's blushing ... I especially Love that one!
Wow Diane you grow girl... So many pretty pictures... Keep it up as they are beautiful.....
Hugs,
Susan
Lovely flowers Diane!
on the flower color, the color can change as the flower ages. Also other things can affect color - especially temperature. Cooler temps usually form darker or stronger colors.
Thanks everyone!
Ki- Thanks for explaining that! I like the color of the older better so am glad to know it should end up being that color!
Lin- That Phal. didn't have a name when I bought it at Lowe's last year. I hated that it wasn't named but couldn't pass up the coloration in the blooms. One if my favorites! And it's re-blooming on an old spike and on a new one- Woohoo!
Pretty flowies!! Very nice!
Hubby and I worked in the backyard for two hours this morning. Wonderful cloudy and cool day. Perfect for yard work. Went to lunch and then to buy a new large hummer feeder at Fox Nursery.
Have you all seen pink Turk's Cap? I ordered mine after seeing them in a TX garden mag. They are wonderful. I love my red ones, but the pinks are adorable too! They grow behind my fountain.
