Well, I'm pretty sure I have babies. I found half an egg a bit from the playhouse and thought "uh oh, something got to the nest". I contorted myself as much as possible to see into it, but it's just hidden under the platform so no way to see it. I couldn't hear or smell anything so I bent down and peeked up and saw tail feathers sticking out. I couldn't believe the mom was still sitting there after all my poking around so I quickly turned to leave and she flew out just as dad flew over with something in his beak. He saw me and did a quick turn and perched on a tree nearby and watched me leave. As soon as I got far enough away, he flew up into the nest. I'll take my camera out later and see if I can get any pictures of them.

Congrats!!!!
my jaw hurts just looking at how wide they can get their mouths open!
My, my....such a demanding child......
Devildogs! Congrats on your "babies"!
Sweet pics Dave!
You have the most wonderful pictures!
Thank you. Actually, a lot of the best action takes place at or around 7:00 a.m., when the light is very poor. I guess I am lucky to have gotten something this good, but as you can see, they are pretty soft. Still, without an ISO of 3200, which enabled a shutter speed of 1/5000sec., they would have been a lot softer, and I probably could not have stopped him in flight.
Here's a visitor, another favorite.
Thank God for digital camera, right Dave?

Somebody needs to teach that young fella not to yell at his elders!
Great shots. Thanks so much for sharing them with us. Your photography is exceptional!

Amazing photos Dave! I just love seeing this time during their lives!
I was surprised to see a picture of a baby that actually had it's mouth shut!
Dave, how precious!
Yes, it's true. They rarely close their mouths. However, these three are much more restrained than most others I have seen. They often sit still in different locations and wait to be fed. Usually fledglings climb all over each other and generally throw a fit to get attention. Maybe that will come later.
Oh thats so funny! Great pics!
wowee, already? No wonder she was crabby.
That is a sharp one!
That is a nice one!
