Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Hey now don't get me started on Turkens... They are beautiful.. They wear a puff on the top of there head... I had many of them.... They were my babies and I had to get rid of my chickens because something kept eating them... and it killed me as they were not chickens but my friends.... I had all kinds... I had to sew one up at one time... it hit is neck wrong on the coup and cut the skin open.... it was my sons favorite one.. Told him to brining it into the kitchen and I went and got the thread and needle and sewed him up... Lived a long time ... LOL I did have to take the stitches out when healed... He was a good chicken...LOL

Good morning ladies.,

Sally,your bird is too cute!

Hi Nancy,I was calling the bird Mohawk when I first got it LOL,but since the folks on the poultry forum has help me ID it, it's new name is The MadHatter. Another name for a polish chicken.LOL.I can't wait till it gets bigger and grow the full head dress.I looked at the link Lin posted, those Turkens are really different!

Hi Susan,My little chicks are fast becoming friends too. They sure do keep me laughing!

We use to have a pair of turkens and we named on P for pimping as he would strut his stuff and Ms. P would put on a show for all others to watch... I truly miss my chickens... We had them in a locked shed at night and a very large pen during the day when they were not let out.... Something kept eating them... The farmer next door told us he shot the biggest red fox he had ever seen living here... I said yes he was dinning on fine chicken every evening... So I could not take it after Ms. P and P were killed and others so I had to give them away... I miss my babies....
Hugs,
Susan
