LaMancha Milk Goats

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

that is a great link, MD thanks.

quince sounds more tempting than an apple. apples didn't used to be big and juicy like they are today, they were used to make cider etc...

but i can't see calling her qiunce, i don't even know how to pronounce it!

OK, so nobody here knows that Brandywine is an HEIRLOOM TOMATO??? DON'T MAKE ME GO TO THE TOMATO FORUM FOR A GOAT NAME!

hurry up ya'll, foxtail is beginning to stick...

But it is also a raspberry--we aren't mind readers!

Okay--Amish Paste, Rutgers, Mortgage Lifter, Omar's Lebanese--Oh, just look at the list:0)

In the Midrash they name the grape and fig as probable sources of The Fall. Me, I vote for the durian--you eat that in my garden and you are OUT!

Cats to the rescue again. I was stuck on Rutgers, Cherokee Red?, and Boxcar Willie. Planted Rainbow this year.

seh is kinda choclate colored, and DH wanted an indian name for me. i had thought of Super Sioux... but loagnberry does sound good with brandywine, and i DID NOT KNOW it was a berry as well LOL...

my brian couldn't get past what i had grown most recent, the mule team, which is same as Box Car Willie... and Dr. Carolyn, which is n't an heirloom and i haven't grown, it just sticks in the tomato forum compartment of my brain...

i still may hop over to the heirloom forum when i have time. don't even have time for this link now... have major stuff going on here on the farm front...

so what is a durian? I WANT ONE!

Heidi and Mary Ann are nice. i could save the berry/tomato names for Brandywine's offspring...

gotta brag, this girl is nice mannered, and learning well, and a good producre too! their mother wa a 2 gallon a day milker! i will never push them for that much, but they have the genetic potential!!!

night y'all! keep thinkin!

PAtch,

Never heard of the pomegranate being it. The Forbidden Fruit is apparently up for grabs. Figs are just as much a possibility as any other fruit. I do not know where I read or was told that quince was the the culprit. Just think its interesting that apples are viewed by biblical scholars as NOT the fruit even with the Adam's Apple lore.

TF,

2 gallon a day .... geez! If I had a goat with that kinda production .... I'd gut my grocery bill by $1000 for the year ... 4 kids and the wife and I.

well, even with four good milkers, i will only keep two in production at a time, so they can rest...

Cherokee Chocolate was such a good suggestion that the friend i get my goats from asked permission to use it on a goat that needed a name.... i already ahve a breeding rooster named Choclate, so....

the idea of heirloom berries instead of heirloom tomatoes is neat, less salmonella comes to mind LOL

so keep throwing out suggestions! "foxtail-loganberry" will be at her peak of production in about 5 weeks. she is at 6 lbs a day, which is 3 quarts! and she isn't even turned out to graze yet...
