Charming and I am sure she was worth the effort of the Crinum excavation.
I can see why you would want to remove them. They are so massive they would consume lots of space.
Please Help with Heirloom Bulb ID!
yep and I got the space to expand my LA Iris collection--which is more dear to me than the large crinums. I still have a few though, just for fun.
ok, guys. one of them bloomed today! this is after being moved, then dug and moved again about a month ago during the big garden move. of course i left the clump in the dirt and have watered regularly. the flowers look like podsters shown above. large white/pale pink with pink stripe. open bloom, unlike amaryllis.

Very pretty... and I'll bet they smelled wonderful! Hopefully you can get a firm ID.
Oh my! I think I am going to have to have one of those. That is a beautiful pink bloom. I love Crinums. I have EB and milk and wine. The milk and wine was given the man ask my husband if I wanted some elephant ears. I told him yes and he brought home these crinums. I love them. For some reason it looks like I have lost some of them this last year. The group of them is much smaller. Thie last 2 yrs has been rough since Dennis passed. My yard has suffered really bad. Actually 3 yrs as Hurricane Rita took out about 80% of my plants but DGers helped so much giving me more. But the next spring when we needed to start on it we found out he had a huge pocket of infection in his back. Then it was in and out of the hospital till Sept when he died unexpectantly as he was not terminal.
Back to the Crinum is i bright white with a red wine colored stripe. I love it. I hope I can get it to multiply and get as big an area as it was. Time to start taking better care of things. I have been lost too long. My Crinum do not set seeds is there a reason? I noticed it was said some do and some don't.
I also have a smaller white one that the bloom if I remember resembles a 5 pointed bell. And I bought J. Harvey but have not had a pink bloom just a white with a very pale pink stripe. I will look for my pictures and see if I can find them. I love crinums. But my love of hibiscus is equal to them if not more.
Blessings,
Sandy ^8^
