Daily Pics Vol 99

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

I agree, they are all great shots. There are so many talented bird photographers here.
Thanks to all who liked my woodducks. They have to be my favorite duck. So colorful.

Wood ducks are so "perfect" they always look fake to me.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Yes, I agree. Years ago my dad carved a wood duck and painted it (decoy) I had never seen one, so when I saw one in real life (years later) I was astounded. How could something that looks like that be real?
Nature is wonderful, isn't it?

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Just got this ID'd for me. Thank you Resin! We are on its migration route so he won't be staying around so I guess I was lucky to accidently get a shot of it while chasing the 'Butter Butts'!

Congratulations nanny!

Nanny...what a sweet little bird, I have never seen one! Isn't it great to see all the new birds!!! I am still trying to clean house but the most exciting news!! The Baltimore Oriole's are back and are they drop dead gorgeous!! I managed to get some pics but will have to post later. There were at least 5 males and 1 female (lucky girl)! They are so lovely I could cry!! Now I have to get back to my boring work!!!

p.s. The little Indigo Bunting is still around and seems to have made himself at home...I'm still watching for females (he probably is too)!!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Rose, oooo, hope you got your oriole feeder up!

Thanks all and thanks to you for posting your great pics too!

I got the Great Spotted Woodpecker twice today, and flying twice too! Both times through the window of course, and from his favourite electricity pole. Dull in first, near night fall in second.

He flew back across the garden instead of across the road.

This was about 7.45pm as the sun was getting low, on top of the pole.

I love that woodpecker wallaby!

I know how you feel Mrs. Ed... here are my Goldfinch a couple days ago.

Mrs. Ed and Nanny...Love your Goldfinches! Mine are still here and they have such attitudes! Cute Hairy too Nanny...I haven't seen one almost forever. You are really getting a lot of birds...exciting ain't it!!

Wallably..wonderful pics and I absolutely love that Great Spotted Woodpecker...so cool!

Burn...You are really getting a lot of "new" birds...lovely pics!

The Baltimore Orioles drove me happy crazy today...my gosh are they fun!! I had the feeders out but they wanted oranges and grape jelly. They are real piggys!

Here is a Male Yellow-rumped Warbler taken yesterday morning. He was moving so fast I was lucky to get this shot with all the leaves budding!

And here is a long shot of the sweet little Indigo Bunting. GP...I don't know how you got such great pics of these guys...if they see me they run...I mean fly!! I also saw the female today...gee is she a cutie. No pics yet though.

Thanks Nanny...My arms were tired holding that camera and lens and I was also holding my breath...whew...they are hard to photograph!

Melbourne, FL

Glad to hear you saw a female Indigo Rose. My Buntings have been showing up here every winter/spring for 3 or 4 years now. Whether they are the same birds I don't know...but once they find a good location I'm sure word gets around. This is the first year I have had so many Goldfinch joining them. And it seems when I have Indigos there are usually Painted Buntings with them. There are still some hanging around, they seem reluctant to leave. That's true about the Yellow-Rumps, they hardly every stay still more than a second!

Great pics guys!

Spent the whole day working on putting in a water garden(pond). I'm so excited to get it going. In the middle of laying the liner, I saw a lot of movement in the tree above us and got a first for me. What a super day I had!

Oh how exciting! Congratulations Nanegoat!!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Yea!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Nanegoat...that is a beautiful pic of the Waxwings! I am just sure I will see one of those someday...waiting patiently...not! I'm sure your water garden will attract even more birds...way to go!!

GP..I got an email last night that a Painted Bunting was spotted about 100 miles south of us so I am very hopeful that I will see one someday! I still can't believe all the great photos you have gotten of those Buntings! They are just so cautious I have to crouch down in the house and just peek out the door or window and they still see me!

The Baltimore Orioles are back this morning...they are a delightful bird...I'm feel so lucky to have them!!

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks every one.

rose - I've had my jelly and oranges out for over a month, still no orioles. Enjoy every sighting you have.

I can't imagine seeing the awesome birds that wallaby and resin get. My husband would have to put a homing device on me!

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Woodpecker has been here a couple of times I've seen today, I keep trying to get pics from outside but it's too clever, still I think it's getting used to being here. Besides it always seems to be dull when it comes!

burn, nice to see your birds without the snow.

Nice one of the Hairy WP nanny!

There had to be a female Indigo Bunting around Rose, glad you've seen her. Very good pic of the Yellow-rumped Warbler!

Nanegoat, that's great to see a new bird! Your birds are as awesome to us here as ours are to you!

Mrs Blackbird was only about 3 feet from me, taking a break from baby feeding and had a bath. The sun was behind so not the best, I had to step back to get some pics! They take no notice of me at all other than ask for cat food occasionally!
