My Chick's pics...

Johnson City, TX(Zone 8b)

OMGosh!! Where have I been? Yes, those look
like blues to me. Some of mine have more distinct
penciling than others. I think the 'vulture hocks' are
feathering in the upper and lower leg, but absent or
minimal around the hock area. They are really good if
their feathering grows out well from the middle toe.
2 of those I lost to AE had the best feathering of all
my cochins. I was not happy.
All your birds are looking great, TF! I love the way the
PBR's look next to each other, kind of like the
camouflage in a herd of Zebra. One of Blanca and
Davey's is looking like a barred rock, or a cuckoo-
has the brite yellow legs, too.
I want to share the story time pic with DH and say
"See, honey, I am no different in my good care of
the chickies than anyone else!" DH said yesterday he
favors the cochins most, and wants more. Can you believe
it? He wants more! Hah, he even wants a video so he can
share at work, they've been asking for pics or a vid.
Pansy is one very ambitious girl! Go Pansy! Good
luck with all those eggs you've taken under your wing!

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

well, about time you looked at my pics! if i hadn't been so busy myself, i would have hurt feelings!!!

don't tell my DH, but someone is sending me eggs which include Standard Partirdge Cochins...

Pansy is definietly brooding! maybe it's all these baby chicks around giving her the fever...

she is Purple Petunias sister, and a sweetheart!

gotta go!
tf

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

so, you are saying my bantam cochins are blue and not black. OK by us... i think that means they will breed out blue black and splash? sure hope we have one male there...

now are we still considering trading when we know what sex we have?

later

Johnson City, TX(Zone 8b)

Yes'm. I'm game. I'll go get some more pics of
the cochins. Yes, the blue x blue= 50% blue, 25%
black and 25% splash.
Splash x splash= 100% spash.
Black x blue= 50% black, 50% blue
Black x Splash= 100% Blue

BBL

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

so next year you need one of my splash!
or two!

i think i need more blues!
^_^

Johnson City, TX(Zone 8b)

Hmm, right now I have 2 black, 2 blue and 1 splash.
I originally ordered blues, and I think I got straight run.
I am still figuring who I like best, I love them all, really.
I think you need more blues, too! Check out my updated
Chix Pix thread for my new photos....

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

love the pics!! lots of cuties!!! thanks so much for shareing w/ us!!!

don't know if it was said cuz didn't read all posts but if the "vulture hawk" question pic is a cochin yes those r hawks that breed is suppost to have them. my giant lemons and my bantam frizzle cochins all have them. only certain breeds carry that traight cochins is one of them. sizzles sometimes have them since they r crossed with frizzled cochins, my d'uccles r another breed who do aso.
silkie

i don't know if this sizzle has them i'll have to look but i had to show u one of my new babies, lol. i forgot i took a pic of her the other day.

Johnson City, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL the orange background really highlites her
color! She looks like she was colored in the egg.
I haven't seen such a fluffy chick before, imagine
the poof when she's all dry!

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

lol yeah it does i didn't notice that before. she is dry that is her normal look, rotfl. she is a buff sizzle wich is a buff silkie crossed with frizzled cochin but not sure the color of the cochin. she carries the frizzle gene so her feather flip backwards to form a curling on them. she is so adorable i love her!

just to tease TF some more, rotfl here is one of my other new sizzles it is her hatch mate.

Johnson City, TX(Zone 8b)

I think I'm going to have to get some frizzles and
sizzles! Maybe just frizzles. DH really likes our cochins,
so he would certainly like a frizzle.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

OK, SC, you thread hijacker!

so, in my APA SOP, vulture hocks IN COCHINS are a disqualification. but mine is kinda outdated, anyone know?

TF

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

awe come on now i had to tease ya and show ya my new babies, lol. i wanted to see what u thought of them. figured u might want eggs for some when older.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

gee, for sizzles, frizzles, silkies, cochins, showgirls? who wants 'em LOL, you probably can't GIVE them away???!!!

;-P
tf

Johnson City, TX(Zone 8b)

Yeah- what TF said! Even if you packed them in
really expensive, custom fitted styrofoam and
carefully labeled each one. And, chose eggs from
your best birds, and they arrived next day air- I
wouldn't want them! LOL

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

OK, everyone drooling over Silkiechick's Silkie/Frizzle/Sizzle chicks, say 'I'

Aye!

i guess these will be your breeders next year? so i have till then to get really good pens and cages built for them... rather to have DH do it. or else he'll have to share all his tools with me and let him homeschool the kids whilst I build them LOL

♥tf

p.s., Mar, you will have to teach me how to take better pics...

Lincolnville, ME(Zone 5a)

Aye!

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

awe thanks guys, that means alot. yes TF those will be 2 of them i have a few others too and other colors. you'll have to let me know what u'll want eggs for next year. some of my breeds and birds i'm parting with to make room here over the next few weeks.

pics is a hard one they spook easy sometimes and jump up out of the pics, lol. i just try to get them to sit still as best as i can like i do when i take pics of the kid's. sometimes i have to pet the chickens or talk to them to calm them down. once in a great while ya might see i hold their feet, those r my worst pic jumpers that hate the flash. sometimes it takes awhile and a few pics then i just go with the best pics that take some naturally just sit there and love th attention. back drops help alot and close ups so people can see better what ur birds look like other than that not sure what to tell ya.

i'm a trapper so i also take pics on the lines of the wild animals we see and since i garden i take pics of my blooms ect also. it just came naturally after i started and kept practiceing. to me pics r a work of art and show pure beauty. u'll get an eye for it, the feel of the cam and what works for u in no time. ur doing awesome already keep up the great work!!!!

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

how much to ship me all your partridge that you are "parting" with?

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

lol, i haven't decided which of those to part with yet. i sold 7 of their peeps the other day though. eggs or peeps would be cheaper for them there is alot of them. i was looking at them today oh my have they blossomed since they just molted over winter and most have grown to breeders now. i have quite a few look just like my whites. i was drooling, lol i definately got to take pics of them and my splashes they truely are beautiful to just sit and stare at all day, lol.

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

ok.. I'll say aye.. now what.. you dragged it out of me...

I wonder.. did I find my nitche in the world.. I swear I have never laughed, giggled, smiled, chuckeled and said "stupid bird" (in a loving term) so many times in the last two weeks.. I am thoroughly in love... lol

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

i took these pics just before EAster, which would make these about four weeks old at the time. i have new pics i have not uploaded taken today.

this is Annie and Alvin according to ME. whipped cream and some other kind of white food according to the kids, and some punk-rocker names according to DH....

another discussion between Annie and Alvin over WHO laid the egg...

Thumbnail by TamaraFaye
Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

Snowy finding a warm spot on top of surrogate Mom, our golden/red sex link pullet, CHUCK [hey, i don't get to name ALL of them, OK?] she was six weeks old when she heard the PBRs in the brooder next to her and decided to be a Chicken Mama.

recently i tossed her out of the bantam pen. at night, they all try to get under her wings still, and they are more than half her size! well, she didn't like the real world, and didn't want the new chicks. so she is back in with the bantams, only to be outsized by the one Barred Rock i there!

another shot of Chuck and Snowy. NOPE, wrong photo. This is Morning Glory "M-Gee" and Applesauce, our 3-22 Buckeye hatch...
