It was a great afternoon to photograph the Waxwings. Spreading the crabapples really did the job. I was even able to go outside where they were, and take pictures of them, they just stayed there and continued eating and looking at me. I was no more than 5 or 6 ft away. All the other times, they would fly of, if they saw me in the window. I was pretty amazed they let me get that close.
Daily Pics #94
Nanny, very nice close up the the Card!
Cparts...I love seeing duck pics, thanks for posting them.
Elphaba, congrats on two new birds. The vireo and chat are just lovely!

Burn...You and the crabapples are doing a superb job of feeding your birds. Those Waxwing shots are really super!!
I also had 2 new birds today. Here is the first one and it is a Yellow-rumped Warbler.
Congratulations Rose!!! Beautiful pics!
Thanks Pelle..we all know how exciting it is to see a first and to see 2 is awesome!
Great pics everyone!
I guess I'll have to drag out the dslr and start up with these too. I wonder if anything interesting hangs out downtown during my lunch breaks... :D
Ditto to all Rose said, and what a great day you have had too Rose! That's a really good pic of the Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.
We're having funny weather, lol, nothing new. Cold with hail and you want a winter coat on, then the sun comes out and you have to take everything off!
This must be Mr & Mrs Robin, through the window (and dull!) as one was picking up remnants of oats.
The bg gnatcatchers remind me of a batter in the box, shaking their tails and waiting for the next pitch!
My camera is not capable of bird photos or I would share the baby C wrens I have. Mama built the nest right outside my front door in a hanging lantern. I saw them out on the front porch for the first time about a week ago. Yesterday they were in the back yard. Ma was on the privacy fence giving them advice as they were huddled together next to a mahonia. I was 30 feet away and on my second floor level deck, but if I moved at all, they would scurry under the mahonia! In a little bit, they would venture back out. When I moved again, under the mahonia they would go! Too cute!
Thanks everyone. Great pics, especially love the Red-winged Blackbird Linth. Keep em' coming!
I wonder if anything interesting hangs out downtown during my lunch breaks... :D
Actually Liam, I think you'll be surprised once you start looking. I know they have a huge problem with migratory birds flying into the buildings in Chicago and Milwaukee. There are even volunteers who spend the days going around and picking up the stunned little ones.

Ooo ooo, and go down and get me some pix of those Monk Parakeets in Hyde Park.

Thank you Burn...I am tryng to learn but right now it is just lucky shots if they turn out. I think your idea of putting the crabapples in the peanut feeder was brilliant. I love those Waxwings!
