Josephine,....Kim's parents names were Deb & Kerry....wonderful folks
we were right next to them and enjoyed their company greatly. Kerry was so kind to help us unload ...just as we started movin' plants....(and I had a truck load) It's easy to understand the true meaning of the saying...."the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree"....having met Kim & her parents for the 1st time....Thanks Kim,...for doin' a great job organizing the swap. Wonderful!

Great pictures - Thanks for getting so many names (and handles) with faces, Josephine.

But I noticed something was missing - so here is my first plate of the outstanding food.

Thank you everyone for a great time.

I had a great time. So glad to have met so many of you for the first time and to see old friends again. The food was awesome, and the plants were amazing.

WillisTXgarden traded his door prize (a zippered butterfly house!) for mine when he found out I had caterpillars at home that I was trying to save from the wasps. Thank you, Lee! Debnes brought the bf house and she shared so much of her great knowledge about butterfly raising!

I always learn so much at these RU's!

Is it always windy in College Station? LOL!!

I had a great time meeting new people (new to me anyway), and seeing old DG friends again. I am SO glad I could come. There was a wonderful large crowd, and the food was yummy. Great place to hold a gathering too.

cannagirl - I got there about 11:30 but I never saw you and I had a box of plants for you. Did you get them?

Thanks for doing this all again, Kim. You are the CS hostess with the mostest. Thanks for the signs, too. They were a great help. Good luck on your BIG exam tomorrow!

Thanks to all for making our first RU such a great experience. It won't be our last one for sure. Now to start digging. Gene and Ivy

I'm glad you enjoyed the dip - recipe is below -

Pesto, Goat Cheese and Sun-Dried Tomato Torta

1 cup Coursely Chopped Fresh Basil loosely packed (I use 3-0.33 oz packages from the grocer or weigh 1 oz from the garden)
1 cup coursely chopped fresh spinach loosely packed
1 1/2 t minced garlic
1/4 cup virgin olive oil
4 oz Parmesan cheese, freshly grated (1 cup)
freshly ground pepper

8 oz cream cheese, softened
4 oz goat cheese, softened

1/3 cup sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil, drained, patted dry and minced

1/4 cup finely chopped pine nuts

Chop basil, spinach and garlic in a food processor, While machine is running, gradually add olive oil thru feed tube. Add Parmesan and process until almost smooth. Season with pepper. Set aside. Blend cream cheese and goat cheese in a medium bowl until smooth.
Line a 3-cup bowl with plastic wrap, leaving a 4" overhang. Mold one-third of cream cheese misture into a disk and distribute evenly in bottom of prepared bowl. (I spread using the back of a spoon). Spread half of basil mixture over cheese. Sprinkle with half of sun-dried tomatoes and half of nuts. Mold another one-third cheese mixture into a larger disk and place on top of nuts. Repeat layers with remaining basil mixture, sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts and last one-third of cheese. Tap bowl lightly to allow ingredients to settle. Fold plastic overhang over top and refrigerate.
Thirty minutes before serving, unfold plastic wrap and invert onto serving plate. Decorate top with sun-dried tomatoe slices or basil. Serve at room temperature with assorted gourmet crackers.

It was all great fun! It is always such a rush, getting plants to everyone, trying to spend time with everyone, it is too brief a time to see such wonderful folk. Then we must rush away to tend and plant the new children we have gotten.

So many fabulous plants. I was good and made sure that I had places ready for all the fabulous plants, alas, I did not prepare at all.

On of the places I planned to plant had a tree that has come up from nothing in four years. I figured it was a fig relative, but was not sure, it has deeply lobed leaves and is quite pretty, but I figured it had to go to make room. Getting ready to plant a mulberry that Trishann so kindly provided, I looked up and noticed that the tree I was going to remove, is absolutely loaded with mulberries! So much for my plant identification skills!

AuntAnne- I think Karla said some other people were asking about the sopapilla cheesecake also. Soon as I get home from work (providing I can still think straight) I'll get the recipe from her and post it. ( I'll probably put it in the recipe files over on the "EXTRAS" tab ). Really enjoyed the CS roundup this year. I think it was better than the last one. Jim

My friend Retha and I (Honey) had a great time too. My first RU. Next time I will know more what it's like and can prepare accordingly.
Thank's so much for all the hard work of making it a great day.

Oooooo. So many people I didn't meet. I wish people could have stayed longer. Staying for supper is a really good idea because it's a little quieter and we can sit and talk. DH and I got to meet and talk to Debnes and her daughter Jackie for the first time. Of course, Kim, Sylvia, and Smockette were there also.

Hello, all- OK, by popular demand, here is Karla's recipe for Sopapilla Cheesecake

2 cans Pillsbury crescent rolls
3-8 oz packages of cream cheese
2 cups sugar (reserve 1/2 cup for topping)
1 stick of butter
1 tablespoon of vanilla
1 tablespoon cinnamon

Use 9 x 13 pan ( I used one end of the butter stick to lightly grease bottom).
Spread one can of crescent rolls in pan (may need to stretch a little to fit).
Mix 1-1/2 cups sugar, the vanilla, and the cream cheese until creamy.
Spread mixture on top of crescent rolls.
Place second can of rolls on top of mixture.
Melt stick of butter and pour on top of dough.
Mix remaining sugar (1/2 cup) and cinnamon and sprinkle on top.
Bake in oven for 30 minutes @ 350 F.

This is my kind of recipe - quick, easy, and sooooooooo good. Enjoy-

And thanks to everyone who helped rid me of that mess of plants! Lol... I had no idea I had that many seedlings and such until I loaded them into the truck that morning. Next year I think I will need to tame it down a little or I'll never have enough room!
