Hi y'all!!! To the 3 J's-Julie, Jenny and Janet, too funny!

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Hi Janet and welcome to the Northeast Forum! I will add you to the list.

Hi Victor and everyone else at in the Northeast. Yes, you are right about the threads you see me on. I don't have much time to myself these days - Colin and actual gardening are consuming my days and that's not a bad thing. Update on the divorce of Colin's parents - my DD#2: things have gone from bad to horrible. Colin's parents are still separated and we've discovered that my DD has been lying and cheating and is mentally unstable. My SIL doesn't make much effort to see his son. They are in so much financial trouble they are probably going to have to declare bankruptcy. At this point I don't care what happens to either of them to protect my own sanity - no more financial help from me. They both were more than willing to turn over temporary custody to my older DD but right she she just has a health care proxy for him. Colin is doing OK only because his Auntie is more mother to him than his real one. Colin and his mother have moved in with Auntie so that she can keep track of them but is on the verge of kicking out her sister. I'm totally devoted to making sure Colin will survive his parents and grow up to be normal and it is exhausting at this age.
Even though I don't have much time for posting I want to keep up with the birthdays since I'm usually the first one up in the Northeast in the morning and make sure the list is kept up to date!!! I can still do a great run-on sentence!!!! Better get those names added before i forget!! Eleanor

Colin is luck to have you looking out for him, Eleanor. Sending you strength in this trying time...

Welcome Janet! How many in your kennel?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Eleanor, that's rough. Colin's blessed to have you.

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Thanks to everyone for thinking of us. It helps to be able to talk about it and not keep it locked up inside. When you have children you want the best for them but sometimes it just doesn't turn out right. You wonder where you went wrong - I wish these kids of ours came with instructions!!! Hope I can do better with Colin but he also has his own set of problems without his parents adding to it. Eleanor

I'm sure you did nothing wrong, Eleanor. Sometimes things just don't work out right. Hopefully it will be different for Colin.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Welcome Janet, Jenny, and Julie

Definitely will be praying, Eleanor. Ditto on the HUGS

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Hi Eleanor....no wonder we haven't heard much from you EXCEPT when you are thinking of others and wishing them a happy birthday or welcoming new friends to DG......I agree that you shouldn't be questioning yourself and even thinking about taking any blame on. No way! Your kids have lots of choices....including the one to screw up their lives. I'm sending you lots of hugs and hoping you will find lots of energy to do what you must do. You have so many people here who care and hope things turn around. Hang in there!!

Welcome, Jenny, Julie and Janet! Glad you have joined us!

Louise

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Thanks everyone for the support. I'm hanging in there, Louise!! Auntie Jenn and I took Colin to the doctor today and they are making an appointment with a pediatric specialist who deals with development and behavior issues. The doctors are beginning to think Colin doesn't have just a speech problem but maybe is autistic. It was not a shock to hear this news because we have already looked at the behavior characteristics and Colin exhibits many of them. Jenn took part of the day off to take him to the doctor with me. His mother of course, did not. We took Colin to the doctor originally for an intestinal upset and ended up discussing his behavior. We've been after her for several days to get him to the doctor as this has been going on for a week. So, today Jenn and i took him. Jenn doesn't go out much but had a date and I told her to go ahead and have a good time - she deserves it. I watched Colin and put him to bed and collected "specimens" to be tested and his mother was out with friends (and she goes out several times a week). His mother wasn't sure she'd make it home tonight so jenn and i will collect the rest of the specimens in the morning. What a day, but we survived. The hugs feel good and thanks for them. Eleanor
p.s. This morning when I looked out the kitchen window, the sun was shinning through an astilbe and it looked so pretty - a bright spot in my day!!
