I thought that Daves automatically downsized our photos but have noticed lately that the ones I post are huge. Is the feature no longer working or as usual did I miss something LOL!

Photo Sizes not Resized in DG
No answer yet? I was wondering the same thing, mine don't seem to be resizing either.
DG resizes them for the thumbnail, but they open full size. You need to resize them yourself. If you right-click the image in the"My Pictures" area of your computer there is an option to resize(I use medium). If not here is a link for the tool:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Scroll down to the resizing tool.
Thanks, I never realized that before and have been posting from the same camera for years on DG and just recently noticed that they are not auto downsizing. I years past I never had to resize any of my photos before uploading?
Maybe somethings changed in whatever program you use, something got unchecked? like a "resize photos for better viewing on websites and in e-mail" kinda thing?
They do downsize, at least in terms of file size. But I'm not sure about the actual pixel dimensions if that changes or if the resolution just gets reduced slightly so they load faster.
They used to downsize to all the same size, 640 X 480 I think. Now I open pics and some are huge, some are small, some smaller, etc. I really liked it when they were mostly the same "downsized" size. (The only exceptions I remember are when folks downloaded small pics, those would stay small and not be bumped up to whatever size it was that Dave reduced the larger pics to (again, 640 X 480?).

I think the max width was 999 pixels, and if the images were bigger, they resized to that. Don't know if that has changed, cause resize my images anyway for web posting...my camera makes huge files.
Hey shoe, how r you. Thanks you folks for jumping in here, I thought I had really lost my memory. I never downsized anything, it was just DG auto for many years. I have just noticed the change recent months. I am considering a new camera as mine is 8 years old and am concerned that the higher resolution producing larger photos will really be huge here, Wonder if Dave has changed something in recent months?
Howdy, Candy (Candee)...long time no see, eh?
I, too, remember those automated days when the pics resized, and sure made it easier on us dial-uppers for viewing pics.
Regarding your camera, I bet if you go to your menu on your camera you can easily set it for picture size. Sometimes it is called "Best", "Better", or "Normal" (or something to that affect). That way when you download them they are sized already. Or at least that will give you the choice.
I got hooked on Irfanview (Thanks, Gardenwife!!) sometime back and after I load my pics on the computer I use it to easily resize them. It's pleasantly dummied down for folks like me!
Hope this finds you happy and healthy (and enjoying ya'lls get-away in the woods!).
Shoe
I'm with you, Shoe. Irfanview is the easiest I've seen for resizing, and before you save it you can clean it up a little by clicking on Enhance Colors, or sharpen them up by clicking on Sharpen....etc. Best of all, Irfanview is free!
I hear that, Nap. It sure is an easy program to use. I prefer it over all others.
Shoe
Thanks Shoe. I don't have a problem with resizing programs, just was wondering what changed. I use PSP for photo editing and can change the setting on the camera, but I have the camera set at the highest resolution SHQ so I get a better quality. Remember my camera is quite old and only 2.5 megapixels.
I am hoping to remedy that in the next few days as I am camera shopping online.
Thanks everyone for the information.
