They are adorable...

Well just got a call, some bad news..d..n thought I'd make it through a perfectly sunny day without anything going wrong..almost made it to noon...

Michelle just called, she's the one whose husband was electrocuted a few months back and she's the daughter of Bernice and Cliff across the street, well she called to let me know her mom fell last night going to the car, broke her arm and cracked her rib..the kept her overnight in the hospital but she'll be home this aft. so I think I'll try to drop off on my way home if I'm not too late for the closing of the flower shop to pick up some flowers for her..if I'm too late I just might give Melanie's to her and pick some up on Friday for Melanie..

With all that melting and then flash freezing everywhere is ice..will have to be extra cautious..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Everyone is busy busy today, just me loading around the thread..lol..

Sharon (DS) just sent me a photo..she was at the American Nationals in Pittsburg last weekend - she sent me the following blurb:

the first one is Inuk with the handler... he took Winners Dog )Best male) for 5 pts. and an Award of Merit. The 2nd photo is of me and Inuk, I won the Puppy Sweepstakes with him. So of all the puppies (91 entries) were under 18 months - he beat them all..so my weekend was a success..on to this weekend..

Hello Everyone - I see that I missed reading yesterday and today up until now. Whew!! That is a lot of posting. Okay, I will admit that I skipped over some but did try to read the ones with pictures with them. Thanks to all sharing pictures. Great looking rock work Jeannine and great lake house Judy.

I am just getting home from being away all day. I had a massage this morning and then a chiropractic treatment. I love having massages. I think that I actually moaned out load a few times today. ha-ha After leaving the office I had a date to shop with my ex mother in law. Since my ex and I now have a grandchild in common, I have been seeing more of him and his family. My ex MIL calls me from time to time and last week I promised to take her out today when I was in town. She is getting on up in years and is pretty feeble, so we took things very slow. We visited Walmart and The Dollar Tree. Oh yeah, I also made a quick run in to Lowe's to buy a few bulbs that Walmart didn't have.

When I arrived home I had a box from another Dave's Gardener. It was the root for growing a canna lily. So sweet of her and unexpected for me. About five minutes after opening that box a delivery truck pulled in to the drive way and the delivery was for 48 more plants that John and I ordered last week. You know where we will be tomorrow. John is out back running the shredder. He said that it had clogged up a few time from using wet stuff in it. Oh yeah, he had mowed the back yard while I was gone. Our grass looked to be six inches of so high in some spots, so it needed mowing.

Several of you asked how I was doing. Doing okay thank you very much. I guess that I must have been moaning and bellyaching recently for you all to think that I was feeling badly. I received a full prescription of the medication that I was thinking of weaning off of, so that may be why I am feeling better than I did the end of last week. Now might not be the time to come off of it. Time will tell.

I am drinking a cup of hot tea while sitting here. I need to get up shortly and get some dinner. I cooked a ham a couple of days ago and so I will eat some of that. I also baked some sweet potatoes with coconut, pineapple, walnuts and brown sugar. Yum, yum. Nnow I am getting really hungry.

Good to see everyone posting. I hope that everyone has had a very good day. Take care all.

Heeeyyyyyy.....no one is here. How are we supposed to know that you got home OK, Betty??? Where are you?

Cardiff, ON(Zone 4a)

I am so bushed. I'd say that I'm so ready for the weekend except that DH went out of town today and will be won't be back until Monday. This week has been crazy, I've been to the school every day so far and I need to go tomorrow too. Monday was the monthly awards assembly and Ian received an academic award so that was really cool.

We've had a couple boys staying with us for the past couple of days. They're from a school near where I grew up. Their class was taking a trip here so we offered to be billets. The cool thing is that I went to school with one of the father of one of the boys. He was a couple years older than me. Right now all the kids are downstairs watching a movie. I'm so bad, it's over an hour past my kids' bedtime. Tomorrow is parent/teacher interview day though so the kids go to school for the morning only. I figure that they can just be a little more tired than normal. They may fall asleep during the movie anyway. Maybe I'll go join them but first I need to show you a little something from my not-so-secret pal. Okay, I think I need to take some popcorn downstairs.

What, Gilli?? The blanket....it's lovely, as are you and baby girl! I love how it snaps closed, I have never seen one that has snaps.

Have fun with the kiddos.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm home, lol...quite a day, left the office and made it back to the rose wholesalers and bought 3 doz. roses..so when I got home, I dropped of the bouquet I got for DIL Melanie, she couldn't figure out why I'd buy her such a lovely bouquet and it wasn't for anything special..a just because bouquet..lol so that was nice, then I had but 15 min. before my class started so I dropped a dozen roses of to Bernice, she absolutely loved them..now I was mistaken, Bernice did not fall outside on the ice as I had assumed, she looked very sore tonight, broken arm, legs all black and blue, cracked rib and her face was swollen, needed 7 stitches around her mouth..she was having supper for friends last night and cooked a turkey, so before they arrived Cliff carved it and she put all the carcas into a garbage bad and some of the trimmings into a garbage bag, well I guess there was a little hole in the garbage bag and grease dribbled on the floor and she didn't see it..said she had 2 platters in her hand and with company coming up the drive she hurried and was walking much to fast and fell straight on her face..poor lady..so I really didn't have a lot of time to visit, will do so tomorrow night...got home, arranged my 2nd doz. roses of the day for my bedroom and found a vase for my dining room table for my bouquet, placed the other plants in areas where I'm hoping to remember watering them , the other dozen I'll drop off at Suzanne's tomorrow morning..the girls all arrived just as I finished organizing plants/flowers and it was time to start teaching....

Gillian, sounds as though your weeks have been busier than ever..did Keith ever find out if he'll be down this way for the course outside of Orillia..remember, I've rooms to accommodate..enjoyed your last visit..So glad you are making use of the cover-up..bought a few, mine sits in the cupboard, never think of wearing it..infact it's still in it's plastic, so pleased that you are indeed wearing it...boy they don't stay babies for very long..look at how much she's grown...no more babies - soon they'll all be in school...

Ruby it's nice that you still see the ex-MIL....very difficult sometimes when people divorce and in-law families drift apart..sounds like DH is a joy to have around..not only does he do gardening/housework but outside work as well...imagine that many plants arriving at one time..
Nope, you've not been complaining, you just mentioned that you were watching the meds so we're just inquiring as to how that's going..must be difficult adjusting...think Canadian Tire has one of their mulchers on sale last week, thought about getting one but not sure I'd have enough use for it..well maybe I do, if I stopped buying flowers I could afford one..lol..

Shar how are you feeling tonight? Are you in a lot of pain seeing as you were unable to get your injection...you are not overdoing are you? Have you changed over the art display? Who will be your next featured artist....just remembered, did you get to sell any of the paintings you retrieved from the garbage..know you were trying to raise funds for the wife of the artist...

Laura, hope more goodies arrive soon..

Well, I am extremely tired, must get some sleep..animals are grouchy tonight, Missy wants to be outside now that the weather is improving but I think it's a little too early..so she's hissing..hope she doesn't decide to keep me up all night.. hmmm just remembered had chinese food in the refrigerator waiting for me to have supper tonight..too late...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol how wonderful, it's amazing how these delicate flowers can survive these conditions..good lesson in life, sometimes some of us (although delicate) can battle overwhelming situations can't we?

I did a walk through the gardens this morning, still covered with snow, but a lot has melted, can see a lot of the garden art I left over winter, so with nice weekend coming, I'll look for little corners of my world to clean up..

Must tell you the following funny story, was in such a hurry yesterday when I got home and then late last night before finished with the class that I think I forgot... nope don't think I did...

OK, I was having a wonderful day filled with sunshine, an office full of flowers (Paul thought it reminded him of a funeral home) but I was enjoying all their beauty...

So knowing that I wanted to get the rose greenhouse before they closed at 5:30pm meant that I had to hurry/hurry..so we're all standing at the door with coats on, ready to escape at 4:45pm -the 5 of us take the elevator, me with flowers pkgs in my arms and all rushed into different locations..I parked my vehicle not far from front door..with key in hand I click it and it doesn't open, click again, doors won't unlock, lordy I'd better hurry and find one of the guys before they leave, don't want to be stranded, so I'm running on the side of the building where Paul and Wayne have their cars, see Paul pulling out, he doesn't see me, Wayne's just pulling out and notices me so I tell him I've a major problem, I can't open my door, keep pressing the button but doesn't work, so I walk back to my car and he drives to it, he clicks it several times, doesn't work so I know he also has a long way to go home, I tell him I'll call CAA and they'll come and get me inside the car..I'll miss the greenhouse..d..n

Wayne's holding the key looking at me, starts to shake his head, says
"Betty, did you not think to use the key" DAH...lordy, that's how dependent we are on these gismo's, didn't even think of that...so today, here in the office, everyone walks by and shakes their head...lol...of course it's not a secret between Wayne and I..I'll get him back..so funny!

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

HA! Betty, I would have done the same thing!!! Even worse, have you ever done something wrong - like out in the yard or put the wrong ingredient in a dish and go to press the "ESC" buttom? That's me! If only like had a backspace button or an ESC button!!!

Cardiff, ON(Zone 4a)

Betty, that is too funny. I think we've all done something like that. My favourite is looking desperately all over trying to find something only to discover that I've been holding it all along. At least you got to the greenhouse though. Keith is still planning on going to the conference in Orillia this summer. It's from July 2 - 5. We'd love to visit so I'll let you know when we have more details.

I didn't get much chance to comment last night, I had to run off and keep the peace for a bit - Ella can be a little bit of a bully sometimes (as much as a 17 month-old can be).

Judy, your house looks awesome, I can't believe that someone would have just tossed that beautiful lightshade. I can't wait till we have a house of our own that I can do how I want. How exciting for DD to be working for UPS - congrats to her.

Jeannine, I love what you're doing with your walkways. My mom bought one of those molds years ago and had planned on doing a path around the house. My parents sold the house to my brother a couple of years ago though without having done it though.

Gita, I love your posts. I always learn so much from them. I love hearing about different experiences that you've had.

Ella has been in a crabby mood this morning - very clingy. She's not often like this and it usually means that more teeth are on the way. She's also at the stage where she gets really upset if she can't have what she wants.

That's it for now. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sitting here watching the clock tick by, one of our impound guys was suppose to come to the office but there was a bus accident this morning and a fatality..I'm sure some parents are frantic..will have to watch for more info..

Trying to watch t.v. and get the news but reception is very poor today..already told Paul I need a satelite dish when we move to Barrie...I'm laughing, he'd probably not chance my turning it into a gazebo and make a garden around it..Wayne told me to save my $$$ for a gizmo that will allow me to play outside and answer the telephone..

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Betty, just get Paul to get you a Blackberry - then you can always be reached by email or phone!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I should be so lucky, nope he wants me sitting pretty, doing crafts, watching t.v./movies etc. greeting clients...lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Everyone has left except Suzanne and I..taking longer than expected with these clients..probably another 1/2 hr. so will make it late getting home...

Been very quiet here today, am sure you are all accomplishing much, enjoying the sunshine (at least I hope)!

Those of you I visited with, enjoyed it, for those of you who were busy, missed you...lots and lots..

Hi girls. Poor Bernice. wow!

I think we ought to make out a list of a person or two who in the event of something happening to any of us, that we give them our dg log on info and have them update our friends here.

I was thinking if something happened to B or Gita or Shar for example, who would let us know. We would be despirate to find out where they were and what happened to them.

What do you think? Even for those of us that have a family, if we don't make them promise to update in the event of our death or illness, nobody would know.

Had a couple of crazy days so I just am doing a drive by at this hour. Hope all are fine.

Love those Liz. Gives me an idea.

Betty, how aweful for Bernice. So sorry tohear of her fall and broken arm.
Had to giggle about your car incindent. But I am glad the you were able to find help, so panick didn't set in.
Sometime the answer is so simple we never think of them. Geesh what time did you get out of the office yesterday?

Carol, So glad your water issue is undercontrol, yuck a messy job for sure. Hope you won't have to do that anymore.
What a nice vision of some of your spring plant emerging.

Good morning everyone. Busy week here. I am so glad today is Friday! Hope everyone has a super day

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Morning! Have a busy morning planned before heading out to work. But I do have some of it done already. Make turkey burgers for supper. Fried potatoes and cooked the green beans. So supper is done. Had a sweet ham I didn't like but it works good in baked beans. So opened 2 cans of those added more molasses and baked. They are cooling so they can sit in the fridge over nite and then get packaged for the freezer. Also have some apples thawing for a crisp if I have time for that.

Liz we had a small load this week. Which I didn't have to unload. I got to be cashier and stock all the grocery shelves. I would of rather unloaded. I get to run around more! Glad you are having a fairly long weekend! Feels good doesn't it?

Judy do you have today off? Did I miss something? If I didn't say DH is doing a wonderful job on the house. Oh to live on water like that. I've always wanted a creek That doesn't dry out mid summer. If we ever win the lottery! Oh I have to buy tickets for that. LOL

Doccat how is the new washer? Is it there yet? I just love to do that kind of cleaning. NOt! If I have plenty of notice then it is okay. There's a guy where DH works that wants to come out here. I found out this morning he has two small kids. I told DH to tell him not til after the yard drys out. Bad enough we track in and I have to wipe the dogs paws.

Hi to the rest. I have to get back to work. Maybe I'll come back later.

Glenview, IL

Hi again...You hoo Betty, Missing you for coffee!

Ves, My you must have gotten up earlier then me! To get all that cooking done. No I am now at work. Although, LOL Thought long and hard how I could stay home today but well no go, got a big project to work on. When DH goes to the house to work I make sure I am up and about early, Check on kids and house..get coffee going and wake the kids for school. Get a few things done before the day unfolds. Today, I was extremely happy as I got to greet my feathered friends. LOL was still dark when I awoke. So set out the feeder and watched as they came for breakfast, what a wonder wake up! Anyway, how exciting to see a BlueJay!! Haven't seen one in my area in forever. Ever since nilewest disease. So what a treat. Plus Cardinals, robins everywhere and of course our little our little brown birds. OMG, hahaha, forgot what they are called, (how dumb). So, looking forward to catching the finch and doves, still havn't spotted any. Woody(pecker) is around I here just haven't seen him yet. OH, Sparrows, duh...Yes, you did say, Thank you again..and heheh, Light is still there!

Thank you all on our Stained glass Light. I can't beleive someone wanted to get rid of it either, not a single thing wrong with it. LOL, my kind of Treasured trash.

Liz, Haven't filled my Living bird feeder as of yet. Want to plant it first and figure out something to put it on where I can see, and unfeathered critters can't have a snack attack! Nice you get a longer weekend, sounds like you got a busy afternoon. Great start eh. Yep laundry is getting done so will have lots of time in the yard, whew does it need it. PLUS suppose to get into 60's, jumpin for joy, here.
OH...Steve is working on the Stone work behind the woodburner, my gosh it will be wonderful to see when he's done, lol not to mention all those boxes will be gone from the great room, woohoo. They are expecting a shipment of drywall so he can also get that up in the kitchen...P.S. Your SP gift is so pretty.

So, I have a sealer to put on Fairy leg and enclose the crack so I really hope that works. DH, helped me figure how I can use the old lamp shade for the basin. Got the tubing for pump, so going to see if i can get my fountain up and running by Sunday.

Doc, forgot to mention I think your pups are so cute. LOL, isn't it funny how the DH's are so relunctant at first, then all they want to do is take over one Our plans turn out, LOL. Hope you find the Step by Step on dragon flies, geesh i am going to have to learn how to make stained glass...in other words i am jealous, lol what a neat project.

Hi Shar, I just love your story! Going to read it again, too cute discovering your Garden by accident. Hows your weather? Are you able to get out today?

Ok I got get on this project.

Betty, going to grab a cup of coffee...you here yet?

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7b)

They got the new washer in last night. We did a quick run and it works great. It's of course raining cats and dogs as yet. I don't have a regular dryer, so my solar one is temporarily not available.....LOL

Had a lovely visit with the grand babies and DIL while DH and DS were playing move the washer. It was great! I do need to do some deep cleaning..........yuckers..........ah well. I can only do so much at a time.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Late getting home last night, so it was bath and bed..Raining quite heavily here in the city and was when I left as well, little spots of ground peeking through made my day..would imagine by tonight with all this rain and then on the weekend high temps there should be little white left..can't believe just since the weekend how much is gone..so that's exciting for me...

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Betty,

I don't know about your car, but on mine the security alarm is "set" and if anyone (even me) unlocks the door with a key, rather than the "gizmo", the alarm goes off--ALL the bells and whistles.

What I have to do then is quickly get inside and turn the ignition key to "on" and "off" three times in succession--really quickly (only to the accessory setting--not turning the engine on) and that disables the alarm. I have a Subaru Outback. It may be different on different cars.

If you read in your car manual, it will tell you how to set the alarm to "on". On my car, I stand outside, point the "gizmo" at he door and then I have to hold down the "unlock" button for 3 seconds straight and that sets the alarm to "on". You can tell the alarm is on if you see a small, red light blinking on your dash after the car is locked. Look and see where your 'alarm on" little light is.

Just as an update-------------
I had my second vein surgery yesterday morning at 9AM. This is where they use the "crochet hook" and took all your varicose veins out --one piece at a time. Mark dropped me off and picked me up and I went home and took a nap--a very unusual thing for me to do. Slept for about 3 hours. Then took another nap later and slept for another 3 hours or such. The anesthesia sure made me feel a bit 'foggy".
Feel totally OK this morning! Back to normal! Will catch up with some stuff around the house here--nothing major.....

I know I'll have these little cuts all over my left leg--maybe every 3"-4"--as he marked all the veins with a pen before I went into the OR. He said i would be sore from all this for about 2 weeks. Oh yeah??? Can't tell at this point, as my leg is all tightly wrapped with dressings and an Ace bandage all over--foot to groin. No pain to speak of so far--just little tinges now and then! I can remove it after 48 hours. I bet when all the tight wrappings come off--the pain will start for real. That would be Saturday night or Sunday morning.
I don't know what i will need to do then. i will see what things look like and decide. Will wear my TED elastic stocking every day for as long as it takes.

The Dr. prescribed some pain pills (Percocet--good stuff!). I have to go fill them today. I still had some left over from my knee replacement, so i took one before i went to bed last night and slept like a baby.

Been at he Computer since i got up. Now need to get going to do some stuff.
Tomorrow, I have to be at work at 6AM. I told everyone I "might" be calling out, but i will be OK and go in. I sit--so no big deal.

My new store manager told me he wants me out in garden on Sunday mornings to just help people out with any questions they might have. He said someone with my people-personality should not be sitting in the Phone center. I agree! But--life has other ideas sometimes.....He does not know WHY I am in the Phone center--the knee problems...the 2 replacements--having fallen in 1999--etc. Will have to fill him in.

So, now I will be comitted to work 10-2 every Sunday AM in garden until end of June.

--I am happy about being there again--for just a little bit as I miss it so.
--I am happy about the extra money.
--I am NOT happy that it will add a 4th day of work to the week, but I will be back home
by 2:30PM and a lot of day left to do stuff.

Have to look at it this way--2 positives--one negative! The positives win!

Hi to everyone! Gita

You go Gita, maybe they need to get you one of those cushie garden chairs and your could be the Queen Bee in the center of the gardening stuff, people could come up and ask you questions. If the manager played his cards right, he could sell more garden furniture at the same time..........grin

Hope you feel better soon. Percocet is indeed good stuff! Nothing like high quality prescribed drugs to make your life a little easier...........LOL

Hiall. I have been a busy bee today. I took off from work to chaparone my son's field trip up to Washington DC. Luckily, I only had to watch him so it was some good bonding time for mom and son! Left at 8am and got to the Nat'l Archives at 10. It had a line wrapped around the bldg and I was like "oh no"! Anyway, it moved fairly quickly and we were in w/in 30 mins. For you Americans, if you've never been to see the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and Constitution, I recommend it - ONCE! This is my second field trip and I still didn't get to really see anything! The rotundra where the documents are kept is dark and I think too crowded. And of course there are these idiots who try to take a no flash photo in a dark room of a very faded document and think it will come out! UGH! Anyway, watch National Treasure - you'll get a better look at it!

Next we walked over to the Natural History museum. DS wanted to see the Hope Diamond so we walked up to the gems and tried to peek at it - again, very crowded! The best part of this whole museum was the new butterfly exhibit - right up my alley! Anyway, they have this dome like structure that is quite hot inside and basically a tropical garden and we went in and there were butterflies everywhere! I wanted the garden though!!!! The flowers were gorgeous and so green! I got some good pics I'll post in a bit.

Next we got on the bus and were about to head over to the Air & Space museum but because we had to get 4 bus loads on only 3 buses for the 3 block drive, I volunteered to walk. So DS and I walked across the Mall with another mom and her son and got there about 10 mins before the rest. Got a good pic with DS on Mall. Ate at this huge McDonalds in the A&SM then headed out for about a 45 min condensed walk thru the museum. Spent most of the time in the gift shop. Finally got on the bus and pulled away for home at 3:30 and got back home by 5:15. (Can you say YEA!!!!!). DS promptly hopped in the car with DH and went to baseball proactice and I made myself take Murphy on a 2 mile walk around the neighborhood.

So to say the least, I'm pooped! As for the weekend, if the rain can stay away, I will finish up my stones. I might have to go buy 1 or 2 more bags of mortar. Ir it rains, I try to get the kid's bath totally finished.

So, here are some pics:
