is there a perfect gardening shoe?

Speaking of mismatched crocks. If you put a crock in the washer and dryer it will retain it's shape, yet be three sizes smaller. Just like a wool sweater...

You have got to be kidding. I almost did that ~ thanks for the heads up!

Hey, Lynn. I just washed in the washer and air dryed. Still shrunk...first time rubber/plastic ever shrunk. Glad to know I didn't imagine it. Thought maybe my feet grew. hahahahah

Perish the thought of feet growing ~LOL

Lol, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one and will glad to tell my family they're wrong, it is not something "only I could do".

Hahaha, Podster! I was just kidding....no neon green disco crocs.

Seems my clock is off anymore. If I try to go to bed before 2:00 am, I toss and turn. That's okay, I don't have to arise until 8:30 and that's about all the sleep my body will tolerate. 30 minute nap around 4:00 pm and I'm good to go. Are you just waking up too early?

I soak my crocs in the sink filled with water and 1/4 c. of bleach. Works like a charm and doesn't fade the colors.

Someone asked about bare feet.....close....flip flops! (The cheaper the better)

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Always early here. I'm jealous for the naps... but I am an early morning person. Especially when the sun comes up early!

Ahhh....a lark and a bat!

I rinse my crocs off outside with the hose, but when I want them really cleaned off they're scrubbed with detergent and lukewarm water in the sink. I jumped on the croc bandwagon when I had plantar fasciitis of one foot...very painful. Can't tolerate regular shoes that well because of another kind of bone spurs...on the top of my feet.

Don't know if this link will work, but I saw these (Sloggers) at Target and they look really comfortable. Didn't buy them yet as I think they may get a little too hot the closer it gets to July. However, they would keep the mud from between your toes???

I usually wear flip flops for watering and piddling in the yard/garden. I wear old Nikes for digging and serious work. I have Croc knock-offs (also from Target) that I really love, but don't wear them if I'm going to be slogging around in the mud and dirt, because my feet get really muddy.

I don't like Crocs anywhere BUT the garden. Due only to the 'flatness' of the sole. I have some old tennis shoes and some old SAS that have flat or mostly flat bottoms. Anything comfortable that is 'cheap' OR durable/washable without a lot of deep tread or 'lugs' on the bottom. Easier to wipe off on the door mat that way.

I LUV my crocs! I especially love that I can hose off my legs, and don't even have to take off my shoes! :)

Yep and then, love the squishy squeaky sound when I walk around. LOL

Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

For some reason, they make my ankles hurt. I have flat feet and 'pronate' so, almost all shoes cause some discomfort if I don't use my orthotics or the shoe has little/no arch support. I DID try putting orthotics in them butthen they dig into the top of my foot a little and still feel 'odd'. maybe its the way the heel of the shoe is angled/rounded or someting?

I dunno - I like the 'idea' of a lightweight shoe, but they trigger pain quicker than any shoe I could wear.

pod, I know what yoiu mean about that squishy noise. I had an old pair of rubber shoes, kinda like crocs, but without the holes. When I walked, the air was forced up out of the top of the shoe, and made a sound that got my kids calling them my "pooting shoes."

LOL ~ kids can put to words what us adults only think! LOL

I'm a crocs person too. Not much support - but easy to rinse dirty feet and shoes off.

blues--very cool boots! mine are pretty cool too but only because i kind of took over my daughters boots! she wore them for style and i needed them for gardening--

I forgot about Blue's boots, I would soooo wear those! love them.

That's what I need to wear to get in behind my pond. We saw a large ribbon snake (green and yellow stripes) exiting the pond about a week ago. He was at least three ft. long and about as big around as a broom handle. Haven't seen him since, but am taking no chances! They are considered water snakes. They are not poisonous, and are only supposed to bite if handled. I just plain don't like snakes at all....so am really thinking of trading in my flip flops for some rubber boots! LOL!

Plano, TX

of course they will be so hot in the texas summer! but love the boots for now

Fort Worth, TX

I got them at Shoes.com and they are Women's Chooka Boots Turquoise $59.99

Thanks, Blues! I'm thinking they would be a great Mother's Day gift to me.lol
