bbrookrd once the new plants arrive it'll be around 2000. I'm going to have to start reducing the # of daylilies soon. Gets to be too much.

Today's Weather in Your Garden - 16
That would be out east from you Clemen, west of pirl and just south of me. I was surprised to see it so violent, guess there must be a storm out there somewhere, but there was a lot of wind as well and I just heard of tornadoes out in western part of the country tonight so the weather is still unsettled in some areas. ☺
I agree Donnie
- looking west.
Amy you cracked me up too.... thanks
I know it can get pretty rought out there on the water, have a boat and have had rough experiences, Our Boat is in Freeport. So you are more out east near the Hamptons! Pirl in is in South Hold. Love it there!!! Clemen
MollyD - I SO want that (sigh). Minus the goats (sorry)!
It's 52 here and the radar shows some rain over the area but it's bone-dry. Hope it rains all night and the new day dawns sunny and warm.
Mamasita, I do not where you are, It seems up noth, anyway, it is raining out on long island, near he city!! CLemen, by the way i like your screen name MAMASITAAAA!!! LOL Clemen
48 out here mamasita and cloudy but no precip. ☺
we grow daylilies (about 2000 as of this year) and over 118 different kinds of hostas.
Shh. Don't tell Thom...
Good morning all. Have faith_---- cooler but hopefully no snow. Funny how we're never satisfied, in Feb I wished for some sun, then that wasn't enough and I wished for warmth. April satisfied me with teasers of warm rain and green grass, now I want to sit on my deck with morning coffee at 6AM The cold return is depressing.
Jo Ann
Some rain showers over night. Overcast now at 40 degrees, calm wind. If the sun comes out we will easily hit 65 starting out this warm so early. :)
Molly .....2000 DL???? I'm in heaven, yes I'm in heaven!!
Do you sell them? I have probably have bought from you if you do!
I am addicted to DL, although I have done very well this year on ordering. Last year I had 60 coming in this year only 20, but I made up for it with other plants.
Yes, Molly, around 2,000 I started deleting some, too, but just can't move them out fast enough.
Fog. Big time fog this morning and 45 degrees. Time to get moving and get some things planted and more gardens cleaned up.
Our light snow melted yesterday, cool with rain moving in ,33 now.
Hi Al, glad your snow is going...your past due for some spring like weather!
It was 55 here yesterday and it should reach 58-60 today before the rain comes.
Hi pixie62560 we started selling them last year but haven't pushed it too hard. Still building up our stock. Since I also hybridize that causes the numbers to jump sky high really fast!
Lynn no problem ^_^ everyone has different wants and needs. Okay by me.
Here's what I was looking at March 28 this year. This was after all the winter snow had melted and then we got this!
MollyD
Foggy and 48. That's the weather, not a description of anyone on the forum...
Ha!
38 and sunny here at the moment! I can see a little haziness on the western horizon.
MollyD
Molly, do you grow them in farm rows or do you have them in beds with other things? One of my most favorite places is just down the road from my Vt house, Olallie Day lily farm. They don't have much acreage, but the sight of the rows and rows of DL's in the summer is breathtaking. They sell pick your own high bush blue berries, Sib. Iris and a few perennials. But there big business is DL's. I took my SIL there as she has a huge collection of DL's, but she wasn't in to waiting for the DL's to be dug to order while we waited. I loved that feature, she didn't. They are teaching their kids now which will make 4 generations of hybridizers. Too cool. Love to see pictures of your place.
Overcast, but not raining. I am heading out to continue the final shed cleaning, a dump run, some edging and hopefully some actual planting. Novel idea. Patti
Patti my seedlings are in rows (only way to fit lots of them in) but adult plants are in beds mixed with other plants. Makes for nice displays. I have beds that are for diploids and others for tets. I have a bed for my Munsons (have to expand that one! More of them coming in) and one area that is fenced off where the main plants I'm crossing are. I've heard of garden visitors who deadhead without being asked removing seed pods and labels! So I protect my best crosses from such impulse cleaners!!
I have a small sales area where I keep the plants already divided and ready to be lifted and shaken free of dirt for customers. Much easier than asking them to stand and wait while I divide a sturdy root ball!!

It's beautiful today! I wish I was off instead of just going in late. Looks like a bust for the weekend though.

What a beautiful day! It's already in the 50s and just going to get better. We did get some type of light precip last night just enough to make things damp.
Hi Clemen! I am north of you in Dutchess County. We happen to be just above the intersection of I-84 and the Taconic State Parkway. Used to be farm country but has turned into more of a bedroom community to NYC. IBM East Fishkill was the major industry here. Glad you like the screen name - it is different. The irony is, I am not Spanish nor do I speak it! - Lynn
66 and gorgeous!!
We just hit 50 and it's sunny! Maybe the weatherman is off target for today (like that's a novel concept!)
MollyD
67 here now. What a great day it's been (as well as DD's birthday) so I was busy planting roses and cleaning up the courtyard.
we finally hit 60 but there was a cool breeze that kept it from feeling that warm.
MollyD
Hot here....HOT! My neighbor just called me over into her yard to see the cutest little screech owl in the tree just above us. He was not 5 feet away from us and wasn't bothered in the least by our being so close. They are just adorable little killers. LOL Because it was mid-afternoon, he was trying hard to stay awake to keep an eye on us. I had to go drag my DH over to see him too.
South China, Maine was 59 degree's today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I attacked the white Lilac tree's babies today......they are choking out the Mock Orange. Now the M.O. has been there for over 25 years, but the White Lilac has been there for over 50 and is just now giving me trouble. I have a 5ft., 4', 3', 2' and a few 18" ones that I have been giving away.....even my hairdresser took one!! LOL
WC - those are awesome bonsai's!!! Such variety and nice structure! I'm so impressed!
Pixie - My goodness! Those are some cool babies!! I am looking forward to digging up and moving a baby of our purple lilac that I spotted before we left NH. I hope the deer haven't decimated our lilac this year. I forgot to hang some dog hair on its branches. They never bother it when I hang the little pouches of dog hair on it.
- Gee Donnie, now you've got me blushing!! Hee hee! ☺
These are the old ones that have survived my mistakes and the relatively new ones as well which are benefiting from the lessons I've learned in the past. ☺
Those are some fine looking bonsai, WC! I'm down to 4, but they're all tropical bonsai. While cleaning out one of the gardens, I found some moss which is perfect for decorating the planting. I was so happy to find something to add to them.
We are in the mid 60s right now after a spectacular day. We hit 72 with nothing but sun, sun, sun!!! I was able to get some much-needed work done and still had time for our walk. Too bad things will go downhill from here. I'm OK with it since there is always something to be done with the orchids. - Lynn
Sunny, near 70 & good weeding weather, had to waste an hour getting groceries. You would think I could survive on pills & water, take enough of them.
Hit about 72 today. Incredible day. Happy birthday to DD, Pirl! Nice specimens, WC! You have to post a nice group shot when they're in the open.
it's still 70 here... with my grow lights on it's 78 in my house.... whew... opened the windows
WC2, Beautiful group. I can't believe they are already safe to have outside. I expect we will get some cold nights until mid May. My GH is overflowing with kids wanting to go out side, but I will hold off until around May 20th.
Today started out overcast and cool, but it cleared and was lovely. Did a major dump run with a truck load of stuff that should have been thrown out years ago. It was not a banner day work wise, but I did lots of little chores that took time. So I didn't plant anything today. But the shed is now clean. Plus the last bits of good stuff like trellis, bean poles and other big metal supports from the old veggie garden got moved to the new one. I made more cages from old fencing for the new shrubs. Still another dozen to do. I had a mad mouse run up my arm when I was breaking down an old box in the shed. They had nested in the old filing cabinet and inside an old PC with floppy drives. They are not happy with the new clean shed, I am. We cleaned out some of the bird houses and then DH saw our first swallow. They are our favorite summer resident. Here is a picture of where they live, except the house is missing from the pole, it has a white bit at the bottom on the right side of the picture. He is putting up their house tomorrow. Patti
Thanks guys, (& gals); will do Victor, once my larch, cypress, red jm, hornbeam & Redwood finish opening up in about a month. Mine are cold hardy to 25° (but I 'baby' them and I get paranoid at 35°).
Mamasita 'kudos' to you with your tropicals. I would not attempt to keep them except for the ficus variety! Please post a pic sometime, I would love to see them! ☺
Temp 61.8°, wind SW 0.0 mph.
How many JM's do you have as bonsai?
