Daily Pics vol.84

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

The resident Red Shoulder Hawk was sitting on our back fence watching a squirrel who was just below him. Must have had a full stomach.

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

This Great Blue Heron shows up each morning in hopes that a fisherman will toss him a fish. Hence this one is quite comfortable with being photographed. I got some great closeups.

Couple of queries from higher up . .

Eastern Phoebe: no sex difference, so you can't tell males from females, other than by seeing which one lays the eggs.

Cormorant photo: Double-crested.

Those are great pic bsharf!!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

GG...Hope it warms up there but you usually get our weather and it has turned cold again (well nothing like Burn...but in the 40's and 50's with the wind blowing)! I noticed when our little Downy's feel threatened they will freeze like that...also the little White Crowned sparrows.

Burn...great pics and I sure wish you warmer weather...brrrrr!

Bsharf...great pics and I want your weather!!

Adel...Our Junco's seem to slowly disappearing...,maybe spring will get here someday!

Well...somebody slap me please! I did it again..interrupted Little Mama while she was laying her fourth egg!! I can't believe they put up with me but they are both still there in the walnut tree close to the box. Here she is looking very sweet and not too mad at me!

Thanks Resin...I don't think that is gonna happen...LOL!

Here is Big Daddy...he was taking food to the female on another branch of the tree.

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Wonderful pictures everyone.

I pity Rose's poor Bluebirds. Absolutely no privacy! Four eggs! Wow!

Perhaps they'll name one of the babies after you, Rose!

Benton County, MO(Zone 5a)

Thanks Ned for confirming my guesses! :-) I can't believe I got them right. ;-)

bsharf, don't be envious of my Osprey. Yours is great! And all your pictures are SO much better than mine. I am not the photographer that you all are for sure!

Resin, thanks for identifing my Cormorant. I couldn't tell just which one it was, but knew it was a Cormorant.

Rose, your BB pictures are terrific!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Nice bluebirds Rose. And Bsharf, that is a LONNNGGG Heron . Looks like you might have to take a photo in three sections!! Burn I'm so sorry that you STILL HAVE snow!

But that has to be so cool to catch her in the act, rose! On the other hand....

Our Sharp-shinned passed through first thing this morning so kind of hurt the traffic this morning and I was busy all day. Plus dh has been home sick ALL week. That just wrecks my whole schedule! lol So not much today and it is still on the camera.

Cardinal from yesterday though.

Wonderful pics! Love the tall Heron bsharf, it's neck goes on forever! Shame about the Brown Pelican, man seems to be littering more than ever.

Rose, your Bluebirds must have accepted you. The male actually looks sweet now, lol, he's gonna be a proud daddy.

It's rained nearly all day here, but I got a few minutes with just spots and even a little sun for a couple of minutes through a gap in the clouds..

I got this Great Tit as it landed.

This one was nervous for a start, don't know what's happened to it but it's lost the bottom half of it's yellow feathers.

The Blue Tit on the right seems to have a bit of nut on it's tongue, the other looks to have it's head in them.

Both got a bit of nut!

Very nice pics everyone.....I just have a few from today, nothing spectacular. What is funny is that while I was scanning the skies I saw a couple dark birds coming my way and figured they were just crows and would not attempt a pic...well, when they got closer I saw they were a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers! Too late for a shot, but gosh were they beautiful as they flew over! Goldfinch still here.

Nice pics wallaby and GP!

wallaby, They really enjoy the peanuts!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Wallaby...I love those little birds and those pics. I hope the one little fella grows it's feathers back.

GP...Nice pics and your Goldfinch are really gold. I only have one or two that have changed that much. I have yet to get a good pic of the Grackle like yours, they are a pretty bird and it wasn't until I saw one of your pics that I realized how pretty they were. Now that I want to get a pretty pic too...they all seem to have become camera shy!!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Nanny...forgot to say I hope your DH is feeling better and that is a cool shot of the Female Card...looks like she is jumping for joy! I hope your weather clears up ours finally cleared up this evening but more rain on the way!! And no...I hope I don't catch that poor little BB in the act again! I am going to assume she is now setting and will look for babies in 17 days!! ;0)

Adel...LOL!

Well HE fed the little lady, had another egg laid, he is feeling pretty proud of himself!

Thumbnail by dellrose

You must be on pins and needles Rose!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

He sure does look proud Rose,:)
Those blue tits are so sweet wallaby, I always enjoy looking at them.
Starting to wonder, if I'll ever see Spring,;). I'm trying to keep my hopes up, by starting seeds indoors. Glad you guys are seeing sign of it.

This is for those who don't have Starlings in their yard.:)

Nice shot of the cardinal Nanny. Adel, love the picky eater shot.

Wallaby, those little blue tits are adorable.

Two pileateds flying overhead GP! What a thrill to see that. My goldfinch aren't very bright in color.

Rose, are you going to furnish candy bars and cigars for Mr. Bluebird to hand out when the big day comes?

This lady really got into her snack; it's all over her beak!

Thumbnail by GrannyGrunt
Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

burn, you can keep those starlings. I have crows and grackles.

I hope it dries off enough so I can check to see if the mallards nested along the creek this year. If so, I would love to get a picture of the babies. (I am not going to watch the poor lady lay her eggs!) LOL

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Yes Pelle...I am walking the floor already!

Burn...Unfortunately I know what Starlings look like! They aren't as rowdy though since the Grackles arrived. I hope your spring gets there soon...I really do!

GG...LOL! Your Cardinal sure is a pretty color and I hope you get some pics of some baby ducks...they are just the cutest! I am glad you are not going to watch her lay her eggs! LOL!

Marlton, NJ

Baby Ducks?? Oh yes they definitely are the cutest!
