Here's another Osprey looking right back at me! These could either be male or female as both parents feed the young.

Wow creekwalker! Wonderful pictures. My sister and her husband have a winter place in Florida. Next winter they are going to get a visitor for a week, for sure!

Rose, my book says the sexes of the phoebes are the same. Maybe the one on the left is an immature bird?? They do look different.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Aww, it's so nice to see other birds. I loved those Black Skimmers.

Benton County, MO(Zone 5a)

Thanks Granny. :-) It was beautiful there. I have just one more bird I think. Having to ID some of these last ones.

This last one I think is called a Laughing Gull. His legs look black.

Well, if you don't have any more, then you need to go back and get some more to show us. I could look at these all day!

Now, here is my today's contribution from Missouri. The only one since right now it's cloudy and the pictures aren't coming out good. :-) A Carolina Wren.

It looks like you had a wonderful time CW and lots of great pics to boot! Makes me want to go on vacation and get away from this weary weather! Love the little Wren also!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Beautiful pics! Those skimmers are odd looking birds - I've never heard of them. Thanks for posting them, Creekwalker.

Benton County, MO(Zone 5a)

Thanks! It was very nice to get away from the cold for a little while. :-) The birds were all just so awesome though. They were everywhere you looked.

I had never heard of those Skimmers either.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

CW, just looking at those birds makes me warmer! Looks like you had a wonderful trip!

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

This little guy is hugging the tree, probably to keep warm. Sorry this picture is so dark, but the weather here is nasty.

Stupid weatherman said it was 54 degrees!! It probably is somewhere, but not here.

I ventured out back to check the woodpecker hole from last year. It looks as though someone has definitely moved in. Wonder if it might be a tufted titmouse or a nuthatch, since the websites indicate that woodpeckers rarely reuse their old nests.

Wow CW, you had a nice fruitful trip. Great to see different birds. This morning my yard was full of birds, this afternoon, no birds????

Looked up in the tree in the corner of my yard saw this.
I think it's a Sharp Shinned Hawk

I've been invaded!!!!! Around noon today I looked out the front window and the drive was covered withe Dark-eyed Juncos, at least three times as many as normal. I wonder if they are getting ready to make a move?
