Daily Pics vol.84

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Hi! I was asked to start the new thread. It has been miserable here today. So no new pics. I had to reach back to November and get this pic of a Northern Flicker, yellow-shafted

In case you need it, we came from here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/827234/#top

Yesterday it was very cold, dull and wet. I put broken crust of bread on the garden, a Magpie ate some but it was at a bad angle through the window in rain. Closest I have had it though!

It took the lump up to a branch in the oak to swallow, I got a pic with it half way down the hatch but it wasn't good.

It flew across the road then back to my Horse Chestnut, the sky was actually darker than shows!

A few other birds had a feast on the bread, two Wood Pigeons which may be my babies but couln't be sure. They grew up in my garden so it's possible.

The colours are rich now.

I loved flickers the first time I saw one.

The dove sure dropped a lot of weight!

Wallaby, all your birds are gorgeous! I can't wait to get something new!

They met up and flew off together, I was wondering if they were the parents but seem to be too much at home so I think the babies all grown up.

The House Finch and doves were the most frequent visitors today due to the rain.

Thanks for starting the new thread Nanny. I love that Northern Flicker...great shot!

Wallably great pics on this thread as well as the previous one with the Pheasants (that close up of the Female was awesome). You sure
have some colorful birds!

Today was overcast again...the only time the sun came out was if I came inside...grrrrr. Here is a poor pic of the Female Bluebird...she had just laid her 3rd egg! I guess the Sparrow Spooker didn't scare her!

The Eastern Phoebe's are regulars now and hope to get some sunny pictures soon.

The Phoebe pic is wonderful Rose!

Great news about the eggs!

Very cute pics nanny!

Thanks Pelle! Yes, I am excited about the BB eggs but am trying to not be nervous about it.! LOL!

Here is another Phoebe...can anyone tell the difference between the Male and Female?

When I see the Phoebe's together they look different to me but it could be the positions they are in and if they are fluffed up. They have been very active and I think they may build a nest in one of the lean-to's. I keep watching!

Marlton, NJ

That would be great if they did!

The White-crowned Sparrow pic is so nice!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks Pelle, I love those WC Sparrows. They sneak around everynight and eat meal worms. They crack me up.

O. K. Here is a pic of the two Phoebe's together. The one on the left looks kind of girly to me...I guess if I can find a nest I will be able to figure it out! LOL!

Great pictures.

Nanny, really enjoyed the comments that accompanied the Dove pictures. LOL

I have got to ask this question -- Rose, how the heck did you know that Bluebird just laid an egg?

Wallaby, regarding your comment about gardening, perhaps the birds would need to use wide angle lenses in some cases. LOL

This woodpecker appears to be asking "hey is anyone up there?"

Nice pic of the Hairy GG!

Cute pic of the Hairy GG...I haven't seen one around here for awhile!

I know she had just laid an egg because I caught her in the act. Was checking the nestbox and there she was just as pretty as a picture! I felt so bad and was so happy to see that she stuck around even though I had barged in on her. Poor little thing can't get any privacy!!

Oh good grief Rose,lol!

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Thanks Rose. I saw some activity back there the other day. I have Downies all over the place. Several pair of them.

I think someone has returned to the huge hole they pecked in the back of my house. We were getting ready to repair it, but noticed what looked to be some recent activity in the area, soooooooooo the hole is still there! If so, I hope to get some baby pictures!

Good Grief is right!! No wonder that male Blue Bird showed his best side to you! At least you didn't snap a picture of the poor lady laying her egg.

The more I think of this, the funnier it gets. LOL

I had to go to Florida to get some new bird pics. lol Really, I just came back from there after a visit and did manage to get a few big birds added to my collection. :-) Here they are, from Florida!

This one is a Great Egret. He has black legs and feet, but I never did get a clear picture showing that. The body was always fuzzy.
