Tracie ~ not sure if they will deliver blooms the first year. These guys are rather fickle. I moved them over a year ago and they produced foliage with no blooms last spring. After last weekends' flooding rains, the bloom stalks appeared out of thin air. It was a surprise to me!

I planted byzantine glads from last year's RU and they bloomed that later that same year. Can't remember who gave me those, but thank you very much.:)

There you go Tracie ~ you might just see blooms!

Oh, I haven't been able to keep up with this thread lately, but TJ, I am thrilled to see your blue-eyed grass blooming. They are so cute! I did 3 divisions for Lee at the CS RU, and even the divisions have been blooming. I love that plant--wish the flowers lasted longer!

Gymgirl, I haven't read the whole thread, so I dunno if this has already been said. But I've successfully rooted tropical hibs in 2-liter coke bottles, in rooting mix, with the lid cut off and then replaced. My rooting mix typically consists of perlite, vermiculite, a little peat, and a very small amount of organic potting soil. I put the top half of the coke bottle back on and don't bother it for a couple of months. Some root faster than others.

I live in MA, but going to Austin for Iris convention. How far along is the iris bloom?

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

When is the Iris convention?

South Hamilton, MA

Iris con vention is April 13 to 19. It is always scheduled for TB bloom. The Bottled Sunshine posted earlier was hybridized by a breeder nr. Dallas (Hillcrest Garden). so should do well in SW.

I have enjoyed the dianthus pictures, ours will not bloom for another month. I apologize to all for accidently hijacking the thread. I wish the multiples could be deleated someway.

How long will you be in Texas?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

irisMA, you can ask an administrator to delete them. Click on "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page and fill in the text box that pops up. Include this thread's address (at the top of the page), so they can find it easily. Dave's been working on the servers... Your post must have gotten caught in a hiccup. :-)

Not to worry on the multiple posts... This thread is long enough it takes forever for me to access it.

Lets start another ~ Spring Blooms - Part 3...

Hope to see you there...

We will be in Austin the week of April 13 to 20. It is for the AIS convention. Garden tours are Thur. to Fri. Most are private gardens but there are plants in the garden at Baptist church in bannockburn & San Marcos site which would probably have information in their newspapers. Thank you for being willing to answer questions & forgive the mixup. Our daffs are in bud, but will need a couple days of sun to let loose.

We'll put in a request for good weather while you are here. And please, feel free to join us in the next thread ~ part 3.
