Spring Blooms - Part 2

Keene, NH(Zone 5a)

PrimroseSue- I am coming to the conclusion that those little holes dug all over are made by squirrels- they are just busy busy and and hopping all around these days, digging all over the place. I'm really irritated with them- they have been munching in a random sort of way on crocuses and strewing petals here and there. I got out today a strewed cayenne pepper... have a feeling it's a drop in the bucket, and they'll not even flinch. I think they have spring fever too.. Sarah

Now that it's spring and it's warming up their metabolism is speeding up and they are out looking for food at the crack of dawn. Soon the females will be mating and need even more food but by then there should be more available. ☺

This isn't a bloom whatsoever, but it is my first outdoor plant shot of the year - hen and chicks.

Where's the snow??

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I've got a little patch in the shade out front-shoveled all but the ice off it.LOL

Hard to believe the rabbits would eat on my tamarisk - yuck!

Considering what it's been through this winter in WI it's one tough hen! ☺

... The cold seems to have burned the bark off!

Congratulation Onewish and Al on your plants coming out of deep winter sleep. Amazing they can get through it like it was nothing at all.
Sue, do you have raccoons? They will did out a bulb just as neat as anything. I stopped use bone meal when I plant them because of those bandits.
The bright sun today after the rain has made all the crocus seem more vibrant than ever.

Looks like blue pearl to me Sarah, mine are on their second spring.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Very nice photos. Looks like I'll have to buy some Blue Pearl. Then I could have "Pirl's Blue Pearl".

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Beautiful pics of crocus!! I walked through my gradens yesterday and some more sprouts are showing. I have several more places where the crocus are poking through the leaves and i can't wait to get pics of them. The snow is almost gone in my backyard but still no bare places in the front yard (north side of the house)! eleanor

Good morning everyone
This is a new house so I am going to keep a photo journal of what comes up. Temps today will be 57 with AM sun.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Beautiful crocus everyone! Can't wait for the rest of the snow to melt so I can see some color here!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Nice shots Sarah. Seemed to be the perfect light for them all to shine yesterday.
Went to get booster for tetanus (you should get one every ten years) and had to stop at HD on the way home for potting soil, couldn't resist the giant pansies 12 pack. Not the greatest pic but all those little colorful faces, they just had to come home with me. :)

Nice ngam, I saw them at home depot too but I have to do a little more cleaning, (again), before I get some... the wind is still dumping leaves on my yard!☺

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice Allison.

Keene, NH(Zone 5a)

i guess they are a spring bloom of sorts (the foxes).. Yet more crocuses here

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Nice shot, Allison. I would like a good zoom lens too. When I use my zoom the photo comes out blurry. I'm sure it is partly an operator problem! ^_^

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

mine is part that problem too..... but this only has a small lens that came with the camera... going to have to go shopping

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Nice pics everyone. Love the foxes. Tuesday a red fox wandered through our backyard near the bird feeders. Eleanor

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Dern it, Sarah! How can you live just ten miles away from me and have beautiful crocus blooms already?

I guess it must be my higher elevation. My crocus is just about an inch high.
I'm so jealous.

Keene, NH(Zone 5a)

I have a south/west facing slope that soaks in sun.. the front and sides of our yard still have snow, though, so don't worry. soon soon, its coming soon.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

*sigh*

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Don't be jealous. You'll have yours long after some of us don't have them anymore.

For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven...
