Oh, my gosh! My mom always grew 4 o'Clocks! I'd go out in the afternoons and collect the ripened seeds for her to grow the next season. This is a real blast from my past!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

foxglove pam's choice ... before I thin them out tonight and kill most of them

For me it's my Salvia Splendens Salsa Rose, it really has taken off along with the 4 O'Clocks and Yellow Bells too!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

BTW Allison, those look wonderful! I know what you mean about transplanting them....I always loose a few!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Looks like you are having some good results there. Lots of babies to take care of now.

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Allison, as you well know, it's no great loss to thin out the Coreopsis tinctoria - unless you're planning on growing a jungle!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice Allison. You must be a proud mommy!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

how long does it take for 4'oclocks to germinate? I have not started any, and I have about 6 packages of seeds...
lovely babies!!!!

Pixie I still have not gained the gentleness needed to transplant ... it's like my spaz comes out every time.. try and be gentle and drop the poor things 3 feet to the floor... don't get it

I will be lucky if half those trays make it

:)

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

They look great Alison! Can't wait to see them in your garden.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Allison, if you don't drop them and get them in the pot, let go of the top part and they fold in half...basically snapped! Yup, been there done that. Now I try to leave them in groups of 2-5 until they get really big and strong...so far so good. But if I have a 100 little devils of one kind, I get the 'oh well' attitude!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that is exactly where i am ...have too many some may die... oh well... i usually take half out and what doesn't make it i grab more out of the small container and fill the dead one up again

but the worst is when you have the little one in there... go to water it and it just gets sucked under the soil... oops guess i didn't pack that one good enough

:)

if you notice i keep taking breaks between .... playing with those tiny things too long makes me nuts

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

oh good I am going to start mine... still time for them!!!!

Allison ~ do you have notes on your plantings in your Journal or Blog?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yes on most Candyce.... the ones with more than one entry have notes on start and germination date... some I forgot to add the note they only have one entry

Nice looking plants. We won't see anything like that until April or May and if we do see them early, the stores don't take care of them.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

If I can get a 1/4 of the cuttings to live I will be happy

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

I used to buy or grow so many things early to be ready for planting season and to have exactly what I wanted ready to go. What always happens is the weather doesn't listen to me, and stays too cold /wet and I have to constantly be shuttling the poor things in and out! If they aren't stressed by planting time, I certainly am!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Great job Allison!! You really had alot to plant and root and a few broken ones wouldn't of mattered!! So, how long did it take ya? LOL

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

on and off about 6 hours... stopped for dinner and a lot of breaks... my back is still killing me from leaning over the table

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Wow what a lot of work. Looks like you did a great job. Its gonna look really nice. Big pat on the back for you. ☺

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, you're ready for a plant sale!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

don't pat myself on the back until I see what grows

and

oooohhhh money

:)

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I sold my extra tomato seedlings (in 4 inch pots) for $1 each at a yard sale last year. They were almost a foot tall by then and needing new homes. I did better than the rest at the sale and I've had folks asking if I'll be selling them again this year..
Maybe.... they're definitely worth more than $1 though!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

you have to up your price... now that you got them hooked

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Did somebody say 'plant sale'????

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

LOL.... come on over got lots of stuff

:)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

On the way!

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

Yay! Plants! Sale! Is there anything better?

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Maybe chocolate?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have some easter chocolate too!

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

Oh, yeah - chocolate.... and champagne.... mmmmmmm!
