Slow today?

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Is it me or is anyone else having problems with pages loading?

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

yup, loading pretty slow. lol

North Augusta, ON

It's a Monday thing...

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Well, This is Tuesday and it's the first time I have had this issue.
I have cable modem and have never had to deal with pages loading slowly. Today is definitely slow going to browse this site.

North Augusta, ON

yes, it is, I'm dozing off between pages.

Our second front end web server crashed today, and I'm not really sure why. So we're really running on one cylinder here...

North Augusta, ON

well, at least you're still running, for which I am grateful.

Indeed :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Front end crash? Did the air bag deploy? Good luck with he problem, Dave. Maybe someone jumped the gun with the auction and it heated things up!

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the info. It helps to know.
And it is still waaaay better than the old dial up days when we would do anything to turn off graphics. LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'll try to cut my posts by half.

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

at least now i know it's not only me.

earlier today it was fine.... then late afternoon, for me anyways... it got really sluggish.

Thanks for the info Dave.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

All afternoon was slow for me.

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks for economizing, Victor. hehe

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Ah ha! No wonder I couldn't get on.

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

I can get in fine on Internet Explorer but not luck with AOL. Odd??

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

I can't even get to the site at times. Sorry the site is having problems, but it's good to know it is not my computer.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm leaving out every other letter...

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Whew, thought it was my computer too.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Seems normal now.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Yes it sure does, alot quicker now.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That hamster must be running fast now!!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I can hear the cage squeaking!

I took the down server out of the round robin DNS queue, so it should be pretty close to normal.

We're on only one server now, though. If that one goes down, then the lights are going to be completely out at DG until I get to Dallas. I'll be putting in a new order for 2 new front-end webservers, tomorrow.

dave

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - what caused it, Dave?

Dunno yet. Two servers going down in as many weeks is just downright peculiar, especially given that these servers have operated for over a year with not one problem. Never even rebooted. Just dumb luck on the timing, I suppose. Or an enemy is sneaking into the data center and pulling wires. (not likely ^_^)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Any GW people nearby? (Hee hee.)

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I sure hope the last one doesn't go down...DG withdrawal would be extremely painful!

Bessemer City, NC(Zone 7b)

I had this weird thing going on where the letters I was typing were weirdly spaced. I decided not to post any of that, LOL.

Glad everything's OK now.

(Zone 1)

Just found this thread. I was finding the site very slow all day yesterday (Tuesday) and last night couldn't even get on for awhile. I figured it was "construction" work or maybe the computer gods trying to teach me some patience. I must admit, I did pretty well in the patience department... I deserve a gold star cause I have very little patience when it comes to computers, LOL. We have cable and I know if we ever had to go back to dial up I would not use the computer at all ... I'd be pounding the keys and cussing at the screen!

Glad the site is working okay today! Can't imagine having to go 24 hours without visiting the Garden!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

When will the new webservers arrive? I've been holding my breath and tippy toeing around ever so gently, but I've had lots of times this morning that I couldn't get on at all.

I talked to Reto from HQ just half an hour ago about this, and he is sending me two shiny new (and FAST) Dell servers to replace the two that died.

I can't wait until they get here, which should be next week.

Each server will have two quad-core Xeon processors. Overkill? You betcha! :)

dave

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Sounds wonderful! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for King or whoever it is that's still alive and keeping us up and running.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

It's all working quickly for me today! And Dave, you sound like a big kid with a new toy!

Tex is our database server and lion is our front-end web server. These are both required to keep the system going.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

What will be the names of the new babies??

Hmm, I haven't given that thought yet.

Maybe Jersey and Holstein?

Nubian and Alpine? (Bonus since they both contain 6 letters).

Brahman and Angus?

I'll give to keep thinking :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How about Natural and Organic?

Norfolk, VA

how about sunshine and moonlit?

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

How about a contest with a free year's subscription to the winner?
