Lebug - you are so sweet :) thank you! I may want to take you up on that offer if wallyworld doesn't get any this week.
Fairy thank you for those links. I've been searching on line trying to decide which one to get because I'd never seen any at local stores.
I am realizing that most of these type green houses are 27" wide. My flats are 11" wide and I could fit two on each shelf. Thnat one from wallyworld is 35" wide so I could fit three! It is the best price for the most space and I really like those wheels :) lol
I am going to call the walmart in a few days to see if they get more, hopefully they will, I should have just ordered it the minute I saw it! This is not the first time I waited a couple days to order something I really wanted and then found myself out of luck because they were out of stock. You'd think I'd learn my lesson :(

All I did was google "portable Greenhouses" and this is what I came up with from an initial search...I found the 1 I want at allgreenhouses-$159 1...
Fairy, you've got me ROTFL. I live on Lake Erie, too. Unfortunately, it's the opposite end. thanks for the invite, though.
thanks for the comments on the tumblers. I'd really like to get one.
Glad I gave ya a giggle Jan!! I am very serious though-we can even get drool bibs...LOL;)
I like them all and want them all!!! LOL You are giving me the fever AGAIN Fairy LOL I have to quit looking at these links!
I AM THE MASTER OF TEMPTATION-BWAHAHAHA!!
Yes you are it's bad enough you tempt me with plants! LOL
Do you use them for hardening off? That is the reason I was interested in the one that include a shade cloth cover for it. I thought I would be able to put seedlings in there and not have to worry about carrying them all out under trees at first. Then I thought I could switch to the clear plastic after they'd had some time shaded.
Oh and I liked how you could get a replacement cover. http://www.growerssupply.com/farm/supplies/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10001&productId=75300&langId=-1&division=GrowersSupply&pageId=ItemDetail&isDoc=N

I use mine to harden off plants then when that is over with I use them to start more seeds, I have more seeds starting in those, on the pic nick table and in jugs LOL For shade cloth I use the row covers and just drape them over them then use clothes pins to hold them on.
You could probably also use landscape fabris to drape over the shade ones w/ clothespins....
I saw sow row covers that came with shade cloth - but they were more exspensive so I thought I'd try the green house.
Which greenhouse are you trying?
I don't think I would use landscape fabric it wouldn't let any light in at all, might be good if the sun is really hot.
I gotta run to town and visit a sick friend you all have a good day!
I thought if you used the fabric and put the shade ones on the bottom racks w/ the fabric clothes pinned just over those flats....I could be wrong...just a suggestion...
I meant the zip up racks like we've been talking about, I can't get a real greenhouse unfortunately :(
This is something I found but I didn't like it as much and targets shipping is ridiculously priced 8(

I take it you didn't find anything on either of those links...sorry, I tried:(
SUZY-I would like to do a scrapbook page of the swap w/ dryad's little bag and a few other things....could you either email me (or mail me copies) of the queen piggie and a couple of the bedrooms w/ seeds all over??
Well, I must be certifiably mad . . . . I didn't have anything to pot up this week (have been doing lots so far), so like an idiot I started even more plants!
BUT because I don't have room on the heat pads, and I was working with tender annuals - I decided to try the Deno method (you know, with coffee filters)
So, I have started god-only-knows how many zinnias and cosmos this way . . . and yes I know I could direct sow these, but I want flowers in June - not August. Of course, maybe none will germinate (I did save seeds in reserve, just in case). My driveway is going to be covered in plants in about 4 weeks! - Just at the same time all the winter sowed stuff needs to be potted up . . . DH already thinks I'm nuts. :-)
My winter sowed stuff always seems to germinate much later than others . . . sure wish spring would hurry up. Tonight it's supposed to go down to 20 degrees . . sigh (normal low temperature would be 34 degrees)
Seandor - my winter sown stuff germinated much later than others too. Direct sowing zinnias and cosmos doesn't give flowers until August? :o You are not nuts just addicted lol.
hummmmm . . . . addicted . . . . . I wonder if there is a 12-step program . . . . . :-)
Seandor I go thru that every year I keep saying I'm not ordering in coops and they always get me then I have all of the jugs, seedlings downstairs and a bunch in trades! LOL Then in the middle of the summer while I'm still planting and the heat index is about 110 I ask myself why I do it to myself and turn around and do it again for the next year LOL yes we are addicted!!
They had a thread a while back for addiction 8^) I think it was a 9 step program LOL
Meridth.. Do you have a Kmart. Check out Kmart . Our here usually gets the upright and the only sideways ones in and last year even though it wa sflower season and the garden center open they had them put on sale for 50% off.
I had fun tryign to transplant some thumbergis seeds this morning. Put them in a bowl of water with some hydrogen peroxide and they sproute dliek two days later. Was gonan plant them and then with wate rline break here and such doings going on I forgot abotuthem til today. Poor little radical roots was going to town. Sure hope I haven't drowned em. I bene so busy outside I thought the bowl was just one of the dishes I haven't doen yet wih busy sowing and transplanting.
Did the same thign with some Pink Coral vine seeds. Most of them unfortunately the root rotted, plante dup the few still looking good so we'll see what happens. I wish I was an octopus at this time of the year. To much to do and not enough time nor hands and to make matter sworse brought most everythign out of gh for the rain that wa supposed to have come yesterdy and hasn't yet.
Throw off the shorts and t-shirts and back to sweaters and my ski hat this morning. brrrrrrrrr
I soaked some coral vine seeds last year for two weeks and they didn't swell or anything I planted them and they never did come up, how long did you soak them? I don't have any this year but I would like to know for the future :)
just wanted to jump in and say hello :)
LeBug...eeek on the snakes, even if they are friendly guys, we don't have any here :) or at least I haven't seen one yet!
I got most of our buddleia branches cut back today and also the caryopteris. I trimmed back our sweet autumn clematis last week, just have to pull off all the twines from the deck it is on. My husband woke up all sore from yesterdays gardening adventure with the tilling and fertilizer bags!!! so today wasn't a good day to suggest expanding the garden!!!!!!! only kidding we don't really have any more room to do that even if we wanted to lol.
My two canna Indian shot seedlings are huge already and the 6x7 pot I just had to transplant them into barely fits on our rack, the lights are almost moved to the top. Also got allium, tassel flower, calendula citrus cocktail, and salvia victoria sown today :)
oh Suzy, forgot to mention thanks for the input on the compost. That is a good idea, we never thought to do that, better than leaving it in the bin not being used. We will definately try that, thanks :)
Oh wind I need to get out there and trim too thanks for reminding me, too much to do LOL
I love snaks I always have I used to catch the ones around here all of the time but since I've been here with dad I haven't seen hardly any except for a couple at my compost pile I did catch on for the neighbor and put it by my cedar tree but he went back to where he was so he's probably dead they always stay put more or less they like to live in the same surroundings except for when they eat then they will venture out.
Leebug.. I took a little cream bowl and put hot water in it , holds maybe abotu 5 ounces of water and added a capful of the hydrogen peroxide and let it sit on the kitchen counter where the lights on 24/7 and it only took them about three days to pop.
Funny thign is to the root comes out from the opposit end ya would think. You would think it was the fat part where the seed was attached in th epod from but nope the root comes out the front end point. Now how weird is that.
Ella & Wind-where have you girls been?? We have missed you dearly!! Well I got about 50 more seedlings done today. Now all I have is about 20 other things, poppies, veggies and my direct sow stuff-I will get the rest done this week-I have to-no more time!! I do have some stuff that I really wanted that hasn'e sprouted yet:( and I don't think it will:( oh well, not like I don't have other stuff....there is some stuff I had to put off til next year-needs bottom heat or I waited too long-not a lot though only about 10 things...my back is killing me from being on the puter all day and then in between getting my seeds done & doing laundry-I am ready for a hot shower and some rest-maybe I will read a book in bed...ahhh does that sound good...
Oh almost forgot-Dryad I will keep my fingers crossed for your Dr's appt-the back is a strange thing & often takes a really long time to heal, so be careful with it for a while-find some nieghborhood kids to help.
Everyone keep your fingers crossed-DH has an interview tomorrow for a place he REALLY wants to work at-he needs a job-he is driving me NUTS!!!;)
That is strange Star! Well maybe I'll have better luck next time now thanks :)
Fairy I'll say a little prayer for him, I'm not much on prayer so I think God listens to me when I finally speak LOL And I'll keep my fingers crossed too! 8^)
good morning :)
fairy fingers crossed for your DH's interview. Also, it sure sound like you are going to have some beautiful gardens this season too! everyone has been so busy :)
well, we had our first little 'tip over' this morning...our bud eating cat, snoops, took a leap onto a table top in hopes of nibbling some buds off some new begonias I just bought and guess what? yup...she landed on a seedling tray! dirt and cell packs all over the floor :( Luckily it was unsprouted seeds, like all the lantana's, bat flower and the few summer showers geraniums that never came up.
I have a few 'graveyard' trays I made of unsprouted seeds and took them out from under the lights because I needed the space. Oh well, they probably wouldn't have sprouted, but then you just never know with some seeds. I had heard bat flower was tough to germinate, I was hoping it would be like the lisianthus just taking a loooooong time.
Oh no what a naughty kitty :( I am hoping my kitties don't figure out I have catmint growing or I fear I will have the same problem.
Has any one had lantana seeds sprout? I started some, some time ago and I have nothing either, is there a trick to these? I soaked them until they plumped up. I did hold some back so I could try again if there is a trick.
Oh Tuink that is so funny, it looks like your pets escaped! We only have parakeets as pets here.
I have seeds like that too-the graveyard seeds:( Some of them were things I REALLY wanted too...:(
Meredith,
The black thingies you get as Lantana seeds are the berries. If you rub them between your fingers you should find a seed. If you only have dust there will be no germination! So check before you take the effort of sowing.
These parrots are the offspring of eloped pets. Due to global warming (read warmer winters) they can now survive here.
Oh, and not all cats like catmint. Mine can't be bothered.....
Ya all need to take your graveyard seeds and just put them in a tray and just let them sit there and visit them once a week or in cases liek the bat fower once a month. it can take up to nine months for the bat flower to germinate, usually it don't even start until it about 3-4 months. They take a really really long time. Think they the longts germinatign seed there is.
Listhianthus is another one that takes a long time too to germinate. For the tuffies ya got be tough too on patience. Most folks give up way to soon on them.
Well time to get off puter til plumber man shows up. Discovered a major water leak under the trailer on Saturday. built up so much water it broke through the insulation and now dripping everywhere and it aint one of them ones ya cna repair yoruself. 45 bucks just to drive here and 103 bucks and hour to fix repairs. Wanted them to come yesterday but then they would have charged another 90 bucks for weekend servive too boot. I gettign so tired of things breaking down. : (
I soaked those darn berries until they plumped up then sowed them! I don't remember where I got the notion to do it that way...I will try what you suggested today.
Does anyone know how long they take if they do germinate?
I know my old man kitty (simba) goes crazy for catnip, but he's only had dried so I don't know what a fresh plant will do to him. (I'm not too worried about him getting plants - he can hardly jump up on the bed anymore ) I do have a younger boy (scraps) who is quite mischievous but I don't know if he likes the catnip yet. They say young cats are usually not affected, but he may be getting old enough if he will end up liking it. :)
Starlight - Sorry to hear about your water problem. :( Hopefully it will be the last thing you have to repair for a long time!

Meredith,
Problem with Lantana seeds is, that they often get harvested too soon. People should wait until the berries fall off! The seeds are slow to germinate and need warmth to do so. Count on at least 3 months (at least that's how long it took mine).
About the catnip, you'll soon find out if your youngster likes them. They like rolling in it, so that will show!
Starlight,
If it can't be fixed, grow waterlilies!
