Nice story and very interesting.

Quoting:
I think now it would be nearly impossible to have a spacecraft team with no women on it.

I really wouldn't have guessed that, but it's encouraging to know. I really wanted to be an astronaut when I was a kid. My friend, Balinda, and me were going to be astronauts together. But then we entered the fourth grade and were overwhelmed with homework and lost sight of that dream, lol.

I have thought about posting what it is that astronauts are actually exposed to in space that I have never heard of. They keep saying we want to go to Mars but the Earths magnetic shield is giving them more protection than they thought, even all the way out to the moon.

That sounds scary. I remember a long while ago hearing two older women talking and saying that we never had any of this weird weather until they started sending rockets into space. I know how strange that sounds, but it really made me wonder about some stuff.

Well the flights into space have nothing to do with weather, but the solar winds from the sun do and a small shift in the magnetic field can have big effects on earth. They know virtually nothing about the field since the only way to see it is with xray and only from distances of over 200 thousand miles away. They have also discovered that there is a solid ball at the center of the earth floating in the liquid magma that spins. Kinda like a tootsie pop now isn't it?

The more I read about space, the more I like living on Earth.

Snipe, what do you do for a living? Or is it one of those things where you'll have to kill me if you tell me? If that's the case then I really don't want to know. ;-)

At this time I am a stay at home grandfather looking after my daughters kids while she serves in the military. I used to work in industry but I have seen to many young men die and finally couldn't take it anymore, after 16 years and 14 lives lost it became to much and I am a tuff old bird. I went into refrigeration service work, then into tearing out grocery stores, opened a burger joint to get my youngest son out of the crowd he was running with that was leading him down the road with a bad end and now I raise kids!

As an aside I clear the woods of under growth so we can enjoy the woods, turning a barn into a house, and yesterday rebuilt the engine on my 20 horse lawn tractor because dip stick me didn't check the oil level and broke a rod which cost me 36 bucks and a day and a half replacing it and getting the thing running again.

Oh and grow vegetable gardens! I also write a political and information blog, and have started getting the front part of the building ready to open for a business. If its off the wall it's out on 731!

Other than that I sit on my butt.

You can't have much time for that. Do you have a link to your blog handy & any info. about the solid spinning core you mention? Ideas like that have been around but I didn't realise they'd established it.

Sorry about the delay we took a week off and went to Washington state. cold, rainy and snow, glade I'm back home in the land of sunshine!

Link to the earths core.
