I didn't think of signs. If you would like to do that, that would be great. At least in the park itself so people know which way to go to get to the pavilion.
Thanks! Kim
FINAL HEADCOUNT: College Station Spring RU, Sat. April 12
I have some kiddos that would be pleased as punch to take care of that Fri.
Anne
Thanks so much!
Smockette, no RU would be complete without your crooked nose, plants or no plants.:)
I'm bringing DH and atleast 1 door prize. Not sure yet what I'm bringing to eat. It'll be a main dish protein type thing though. I doubt that we'll be there for breakfast, but I'm hoping we can stay for supper.
Kim, I just noticed that on the headcount list, I'm just down for one person. My dh is coming with me.
Have a question about the door prizes. Do we need to bring one for each person?
Got it changed.....
As for the door prizes, it would be great if everyone could bring one for each person they are bringing. That would ensure that we have enough for everyone in attendance. However, I will be bringing a few extras so if you cannot do that, no problem, I understand. I've got some still left from the fall swap that I brought home for future give aways.
:) Kim
Well, heck, I'm not listed at all. Probably because I am so iffy. Maybe you could list me with a ?. It's looking better all the time, although I will be arriving after noon....
Sorry ceejay....didn't mean to miss you....I'll put you down! I'm sure we will be going strong at noon.
:) Kim
Kim, add Smock to the list. He will be coming & bringing plants & his wonderful book of pix!
Will do!
:) Kim
I have 2 door prizes now, maybe more.
Alrighty-roo!
Sylvia, Jackie, and I will blowing into town about 4-5 PM this afternoon. We will be staying at the
Plaza Hotel at 401 Texas Ave.
I am bringing my computer with me and we will check in online as soon as we can get set up there.
Anyone is welcome to contact us to help us get our bearings straight. :-) Anyone who wants my cell number please dmail me.
Debnes
Super!! Looking forward to meeting y'all! I need some butterfly raising tutoring!
Nancy
D-Mail sent, Deb.
I had a dream the other night where I got lost trying to find the RU!
I'll be coming with one of my daughters. I would LOVE to go to the Antique Rose Emporium with you Saturday afternoon, Ann. In fact that's definitely in my plan for sometime during the day. I won't be staying til Sunday. I wanna Peggy Martin Rose.
If anyone needs a ride from Georgetown/Austin I'd be happy to drive you. I have lots of room in my Tahoe for plants to come back. Okay, maybe I shouldn't say "lots of" since I plan on bringing some back myself from the ARE, but it is a big SUV without the back seats in it. I'd love to split gas money.
Yes...that is my fear as well. Everyone PLEASE check the post above for directions to the RU. It is NOT the pavilion we have used in the past. If you have any questions or get lost...please let me know. I can d-mail you my cell phone number if you ask for it.
:) Kim
ok, small change of plan. Scratch boyfriend (permanently) and add neighbor.
Anne
Anne;
Hmmm, lookin forward to "the rest of the story". Anyone else going to do the Golden Corral breakfast thing? Ivy and I will be there about 9 or so chowing down, then on the the RU. (You can walk from the GC to the park, only a few blocks away. I will have my straw hat on and sure hate to eat alone. I didn't have a prayer of keeping up with the trade thing but I will bring a couple of flats of things we do here at Ivy's. Some special goodies for blue_eyes "just-because".

We are probably not going to get there until noon or so. Right now it looks like we won't leave until in the morning early, so I *hope* noon is about right. Not sure since I've never been to CS before!
I hope you have a fantastic, successful event.
Alas on Saturday, April 12th in the afternoon (probably around 2:30pm), I will be arriving in La Grange after pedaling 100 miles from Houston. And then we get up Sunday morning and do it all over again to ride into Austin. All for a good cause of course. http://www.ms150.org/
geneivy....a word of caution....that is more than a few blocks away. Golden Corral is on University Ave, and the park is past Southwest Parkway. You'll be hiking, not walking.
Did someone say goodies??
:) Kim
I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. (And I did remember to buy the name tags!)
Jo
Sylvia, Jackie and I just arrived here at the Plaza across from the University 979 846 4242... Rm 1502
Someone give us a dmail so we can line up what to do.. Daylight is a burning!!
Sylvia has her cell phone, but I have to go down and charge mine in the truck..
Debnes
I have never been to a RU before, but was thinking about coming. What time does everyone get together and how long does the party last?
Yeah, that walk from GC to Central Park, you may want to start walking now to get there by 10. It's 3 exits from University and GC isn't all that close to the freeway.
Anne
Just leaving work. Got plants loaded in the car fr here.
Smock & I will be @ the Golden Corral also.
C'mon and join us madrid! We will start about 10am but it'll last a while, some people aren't coming until later.
I just got done making signs....still need to get out and put them up before dark. Also got some more door prizes and plates and utensils.
Deb....if you are looking for something nearby to check out, the A&M horticulture gardens aren't far from you. Just go down Texas Ave from your hotel towards Bryan and there will be a sign on your left, maybe a block or so down. I think it is past the Applebees...it's been a while since I've went there. It's nice to walk through.
:) Kim
Not sure we will make it to the GC since mom and dad are meeting me first and they've got an hour drive. And I've got to bring ice....which melts. But I'll be out there at 10am to meet the park guy.
:) Kim
Ivy's already in Bryan or else she would have caught my blunder re distance. I had both locations, (GC & the park) up on the same map that Kim posted a link to. I just failed to notice the scale notation. Well, la de da, senior moment 1, Gene 0. REALLY LOOKING FORWARE TO THIS, it will be my first also. Re goodies, Acer palmatum atropurpureum,
Small but healthy 2 year old, Candelabra bush seedling from A&M sale, last years rooted cutting of Lagerstroemia 'Rosey Carpet'.Gene
Well, scratch what I said about being able to haul extra people and plants from G'twn/Austin. When I got home from work, I parked in the garage and came out 20 minutes later to find my tire flat. DH looked at it and it can't be fixed, has to be replaced. Long story short, tire places are all closed so I have to choose between going to get a new tire in the morning and leaving much later than I wanted to, or driving my DH's Accord. It has a decent trunk, but nothing like my Tahoe if I wanted something tall! On the plus side, it gets MUCH better gas mileage.
Soooo I dunno when I'll be there. I'm really mad because I even washed the Tahoe for the trip! I'm going to take my frustrations out on some weeds in the front yard now.
I'll be waving at you all as I pass College Station in the morning on our way to Mommy/bunny camp! You should be chatting happily at the Golden Corral just about then... (sniff sniff...) Have a wonderful time! I'm going to be looking for the pictures when I get back. :-)
peeper...sorry to hear about your car troubles...last weekend I went out to go in to the lab on Sat morning, and my truck went whrrr....beep....beep...beep...and then nothing. Battery was deader than a doornail. Had to have dad come down to get it out for me because the terminal was all corroded and I didn't have tools here to get it out. So I feel your pain.
Signs are up! Now let's just hope they stay up...lol. I had a bit of trouble and a blood blister to prove it. The ground here is hard. So if we have some wind in the morning some of them may go flying. But I tried at least.
Marylyn....we will miss you! Have fun at camp!
Ok...now to try and do some studying, got a big exam on Monday.
:) Kim
I "will" arrive with the name tags, but probably won't get there until around 11:00.
I just wanted to let everyone know that contributions totaled $232. Since there was a bit extra, I wanted to ask all of you what I should do with it. I will deposit it tomorrow and get the checks out Wed to the people who graciously donated ahead of time for our reservation. Thanks to all for a wonderful roundup!!
:) Kim
how much extra was it?
The reservation cost was $200.
Hmmm. Would it pay your dad's chiropractic bill?
Lol!!! I think he's feeling better now, but grumbling about some car problems he's been trying to fix.
:) Kim
OK. That's the only idea my addled brain can come up with right now. It's been a really long day.:)
Perhaps sock it away for the fall reservation money.
Anne
Kim, I think you should keep it for all your time and gas money trying to arrange everything. Let's all just be glad that everyone contributed, and we came out ahead instead of behind!
