Anyone see these anywhere else? I think this is an awesome idea.

Should be able to find them cheaper somewhere.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I was thinking I needed biodegradable neighbors - mine just stink, but won't rot completely.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

They will be eventually.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Good!

Your product sounds good, do you have to bag your leaves there?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

No, but we can if we want. We have this awesome mulcher that we use.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We have to bag ours (my mowers do a fall cleanup, however, and take them away). Wouldn't a thin paper bag do the same as the product??

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Jen your bag looks a lot like the 50lb. burlap potato bags. Maybe a looser weave. Check a farm supply store.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Doesn't burlap take longer to break down than paper??

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

OMG -$2 for a jute bag? They have got to be kidding me! Grocery bags would work and they are free. That ad is marketing at it' very best!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Next year I want to save leaves to make leaf mold. Keep forgetting each fall. It's much easier than compost.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I was mailed the offer. Here is a link to an offer:http://www.greatbritishgardens.co.uk/theenglishgarden.htm

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks Dave.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

David, I thought you said it was free trial offer? This ain't free!!! xxx, Carrie

read this thread - it's great, she says you can skip the compost pile, the burlap bag, the $2 bag, everything! Of course it's warmer where she is. xxx, Carrie

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

It was a mail offer.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh..... you must be on some plummy mailing lists. All I get is bulbs to beautify the Lamont garden in Milton. Oh well. Enjoy it.

It's freezing today. By which I mean, it's very cold INside. We probably need a windbreak or something. Last night after it stopped raining so hard, the siding nearly blew off, it was so windy. (That was a joke. I mean it WAS windy, but the siding is pretty firmly attached.) Our house doesn't adjust quickly to changes in the OUTside temperature. Alas! xx, Carrie

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great to see bright skies out there at almost 6:30!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

and now it's dark again at 6am...at least for now.

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Dear Carrie,
We have one section of siding that does blow not quite off but loose occasionally. Not this time though. It was brutal out there yesterday as far as the wind goes. My DH was bummed. He couldn't go flying.

Yes, the later sunrise was certainly noticeable this morning, but it's worth it.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Except for those of us who are up and out early!!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

DD#2 is SICK and when she gets sick she gets WICKED sick. Of course she was with her father and he didn't notice or didn't care that she was shivering and feverish while everyone else was comfortable. Grrrrr. Delivered her 5 hours past the appointed time but with a 100* temperature. He will go down in history for this memorable line "how long do you wait?" (at the pediatrician on Saturday morning when your 4 y.o. daughter might have an ear infection.) (10 years ago.)

Martha, our siding is, er, melted in a few spots. We keep forgetting that it's vinyl, and melt-able, and putting the barbecue / fire / hibachi / whatever / too close! We've melted it TWICE! (Doh!) It doesn't melt QUICKLY, so you notice, I think it's while the heat thing is cooling off. x, Carrie

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL carrie!
this section is over the top of my bedroom window so we can hear it flap when it comes loose, though, now that I mention it, I think precious my hubby got up there with the hammer and nails and nailed it down some years past.
I spent much of the last few days last week inside the Bayside Expo Center where it is a lovely spring day, no wind, rain {though one year an exhibit had an artificial rain storm going} lightening or thunder. There is a moose this year however and the obligatory pond with koi. I am going back tomorrow night to enter new plants and bring the old one home {begonia, second place!} and take some pictures of my Junior Hort exhibit.
I will post these when I get back.
Martha

A question. On some seed packets it will say: The seed has a thick hard shell cover. Take the seed and knick it with a fingernail file for quicker better germination. How are you supposed to hold on to that seed and do that? I tried holding the seed with a pair of tweezers that did not work. Are you supposed to just hold the seed and use the fingernail file and keep raking until you get down to the meat in your fingers?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

You don't have to knick them, it just makes it sprout faster. I just take a knife and give it a quick swipe on one edge.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

What about rubbing the seeds between two sheets of sand paper?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I use a nail clipper to clip the end a bit.

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Steel nail file here. Handle makes the sanding easier. It only takes a couple of swipes on the end. I have only done this for Morning glory seeds which are pretty large.

Oh, Martha, very sneaky NOT to stop by any of the "are you going to the NEFS" and temind us you are an exhibitor! Did you notice Patti? You must definitely post pictures of your entries and CONGRATULATIONS on

Quote.....But after a while, you kind of get used to it," McFarren said.
You get USED To someone living in the bathroom, for 2 years!!!!! How whacked are these people????

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Why didn't she just eat more fiber?

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Here's the moose from the flower show!

Nice horns

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Love the moose!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool moose! Looks chocolate. Heard on the news that that woman would not come out of the bathroom because she did not want to see her family. I can sympathize.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

you don't want to see her family, either?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I don't want to see that bathroom.
