what have you bought so far? part three

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

I know how most of the bigger hybridizers name their selections something specific, almost like a surname...sort of... In the hosta world, you have 'Lakeside....' in the DL world there is 'Siloam....' That sort of thing... I was thinking... My first DL, which is light years away, 'Theta's Choice'...something like that. But, true, to true Victor, DL: 'Spender' 'Obsession' 'Culmination' all ring very true also...lol.

I just bid on more...ahhhhhh

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i go to the Cheshire Nursery all the time - one of my favourites around here!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I just got some neat seeds to try but not sure I like what I read about them. Not going to go into it here but the name of it is "Hawaiian Baby Woodrose'. This is what it will look like should I ever get it to bloom.

That's really pretty-what zone is it? By the way, Pixie, I really enjoyed your "What do you miss" thread earlier this season. And Victor, your Lavatera picture was gorgeous!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

What an odd link that one is, Pixie!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you, metopa.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ummm, Yes Pirl...that was what I was referring to about the things I read about this beautiful plant. I should find another link...not exactly what I was looking for if you know what I mean!! LOL

1 pk lupine
1 pk tritoma mix
1 pk hollyhock
1 pk oriental poppy
2 pk blue ornamental grass

I know I read some place about plants have one name ex: Park Seed but bought ex: Burpee plant and the picture on the package is identical. I just proved that one not to be a hoax. At HD they are selling Hollyhock PLANTS by Park Seed online for $4.95 in a 3" pot. I bought a package of SEEDS Bupree 1.07 for the pk and it has the same picture!
Wow - spent a whopping $8.29. I am proving myself to be too cheap to start with flowers.

In that 8 bucks is 1 diffenbacia (sp) for the house.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks Metopa, I still miss everything on that page!! LOL

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

The questionnaire surprised me.

If we have another winter like the one that's now ending maybe you could make more use of the plant, especially with the snow situation.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

LOL Pirl.....I'll pass!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Me, too!

Pirl and Celeste - What are you talking about? What questionaire?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I just changed the link to a DG PF one instead. LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, but I'm now curious about the first link!

Stupid is here - What link? You guys pulling my leg or what.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm just confused.
Gotta go to Wal*Mart

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sherrie, I D-mailed you.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i'm curious too - especially as one of the comments on the PF link mentions its aphrodisiac qualities due to lysergic acid... isn't that LSD?
hmmm....
sorry i missed the questionaire!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes Amy, you are right.....the questions were about using things such as that.

LSD is an aphrodisiac? I thought it was a mind pschyotic thing. I thought an aphrodisiac was a pleasant sexual stimulant type of something like strawberries dipped in chocolate.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I like your thinking, Sherrie.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I prefer other things dipped in chocolate...

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

better check the temperature carefully..!

Lewisberry, PA

I just wanted to warn you that I also used the lily auction and the 2nd year that I recieved my day day lilies - I received a little more than I bargained for. Day lily rust. Ordering from Southern areas can be a problem. Fortunately I planted them in a new bed by themselves and check my extensive collection everyday and caught it right away and disposed of it along with the dirt. Just be careful. Fortunely I normally get my daylilies at reputable northern gardens that are rust free. I don't want to be doom and gloom - just be careful.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Funny, Amy!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Jeff, good news if you live in Maine......rust doesn't like our winters and can't survive.

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

I went to both HD and Lowe's today.

80 liatris, both purple and white
24 dahlia tubers
3 canna
12 lily (actually lily lily, not DL lily...lol.)

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

OMG, Thom, you are going to have to take out a 2nd mortgage pretty soon! But wow! is your garden going to look fabulous!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Will be the nicest foreclosed property around!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, the nicest - but let's hope not foreclosed upon :-)

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thom your place is going to be quite an eye-full when all these things are growing and blooming. My goodness you make my long list look like it came from a very sensible person instead of an obsessive winter crazed gardener. LOL Thanks so much for that. Please be careful and take care when bills arrive, sit down, take a breath and open only one a day. We want you to be healthy and strong, after all you have all those lovely plants to pot and plant.

Quoting:

Your quote thingy didn't work, Sherrie.

Got it to work. There is nothing around my towns period. In HD, Walmart, Kmart..Nothing!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Thom - you're amazing!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Sherrie - K Mart, Wal Mart and HD are 20 minutes to half hour from me and Lowe's is an hour away. It's not easy reading all the great bargains when they're not a mile away like Agway is.

Nothing is close as it should be, even agway. Nite all.

Ok...so no one commits me, I went shopping today, Paul was with me...lol...and bought the following...at The Christmas Tree Store (sounds funny to me, but all of the clumps/roots balls are nice, huge, and healthy...and cheap!)...I bought the following:

10 Astilbe
4 Siberian iris
4 Globe thistle
4 Veronica
6 Balloon flowers
4 strawberry plants (2 of Honeyoye, and 2 All Star)

I also bought 1 20" or it might be 24" 1/2 whiskey barrel planter, and 2 medium 1/2 whiskey barrel planters (I think these are about 14-16"...maybe a smidge bigger)

Paul and I also bought Poppycock...great late night snack, and household thingies...

All for under $110...don't think I did to bad...

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

The following will make some of you want to run to the nearest Xmas Tree Store...or not...maybe it will make you avoid it like the plague...?...lol....
