Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

I like the $5 all you can dig! We have u pick it produce and berry gardens. What a smooth way to get rid of the roots. Let someone else pay you to dig for you! LOL

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Gee Pod did ya want to be my first customer??????? ROFL

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

DH and I set out where we are going to put the strawberry bed over by the greenhouse tonight and I am just trying to picture in my mind other things and where to put them.
am thinking up by the mimosa tree and forget what else is there tree wise but there is an area I think would look nice with some flowers planted inside the circle of trees....I don't want just grass growing everywhere ...too much land to JUST grow grass LOL...shhhh don't reply too loud DH might hear us then he'll make comments about how I already have flowers in the front....he keeps saying he wants to get grass seed out LOL

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll pass of being a bamboo victim ~ LOL

Quoting:
just wondering is 5 enough if they come with a pick up and pile it high
And here all this time we thought you WANTED to get rid of it!!?! LOL

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

If I must type it out for you...N....O...! Sorry, I'm businessesed out.
The strawberries might work well on the terraces. It would be easier to cover them, if the birds become a problem.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ROFLMAO yeah I had to make ya do that just for fun..I already knew your answer but just had to pick on ya...I was thinking of using your pic on the sign as a poster child ...hahahahahahahaha

oh and the strawberries actually the spot is over by the green house Dh is going to use some of the 4x4's we got from TJ to make a "raised bed" for them.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

COCOA Where are you ???? ROFL guess where I was today ....LOL ...worked more on the diggin and got a bunch more out and let me tell ya some of those dang things run the length of the landscape timbers making the terrace but not so many now ...hehehe

City_Sylvia...I have 4 nice roots I dug out today that have "buds" on them where they are getting ready to send out new shoots ......soooooo I need to get them to you...Dmail your address and I will see monday what I can get from the post office in a box to send them to you. That way you don't have to wait till April to get them and you will be able to get the started and have some shoots coming up.

Somewhere on a thread I think I may have already sent this bit of info. Brilliant minds (I'm be facetious) imported Japanees bamboo to Maui...the kind with little bitty leaves. It has become so invasive that it is killing native vegetation and literally covering the mountain sides. It is terrible. Panda Bears eat it. But they require very cold weather. Another example of man's folies. Oh yeah, someone else thought it would be great to import mongoose (they have no snakes on any of the Hawaiian islands) to combat the imported rats and mice. Instead they joined forces and ate the bird eggs. They are now down to 800 species instead of the former 3800. Man is nature's worst enemy.
I always thought mongoose were large. About the size of a large rat.

Yeah just like the Binding weed the Japanese sent here for erosion or something, its all over Oaklawn. the trees are full of them, chokes out everything.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Well back up north they have a very large number of Canadian geese that were brought down to help take care of something and the dang things are all over pooping in yards and they wont stay in the road long enough for you to hit them to try and get rid of the over population LOL....but anyway slowly I am working on diggin up roots and we are going to rent a backhoe or something to work on it big time again soon... I want my garden area LOL

Hey, I'm still here. Been super busy in and out of the yard, but the cold has put a halt on that for a few days. Going to repot some stuff on the porch today. I've got a growing list of stuff I need to pick up in Tyler, just don't know when. The rain will make the bamboo roots easier to get out tho. Hope to get back over soon.

Sylvia, I've seen that stuff in trees, looks like an alien invasion, scary stuff.

LouC, speaking of scary. I don't know if I would like the idea of being surrounded by so many mongoose, mongooses, mongeese?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

LOL I knew you were around someplace ...DH rented a ditch witch to drench for the wires for the night lite outside since it finally gave up on us so he took it up there to see how it would do to help get roots out .......*clears throat* ....he finally go the picture when I told him we still had to dig cause when he used the backhoe it just turned it over putting the tops down as deep as it dug them up ...he says we really need something that wil dig and turn both...DUH...could that mean maybe a rear tine tiller is in order or a backhoe again.....oh wait does this sound like a honey I told ya so ....LMAO

Sylvia's roots on on their way to her as we type LOL

and I agree on the goose, geese no thanks unless you are talking roasted goose hehehe

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Dallas, TX

I just go my Roots!!! The neighbor bought them over tonight. Thank Goodness I told the yard man to come Saturday. Thank you Phyllis!
Yeah I was wondering about eating those Geese myself. You would probably have to quarantine them for a while and feed them corn or something. My Daddy cooked a Goose once for Christmas, they are really popular in Connecticut among the rich folks.

Cocoa are you the one who made that candy at Melvas?

I did Sylvia. Are you getting ready to make some?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Super ..now keep in mind they do not like wet feet so don't over water it..unless you are trying to kill it off LOL..
and IF it gets out of the containers and into the yard I will say I'm sorry and I warned ya but I might not offer to come help dig up roots LMAO

gee I didn't get any chocolate when we dug roots at my house ...ROFL

Sorry girl, I thought about it too and forgot. Soon I'll have to change my name, the shop is officially closed and we title/close on the building next week! weeee

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

oh wow already .. change what name the one you use here? why? we know you by it now LOL

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Congratulations on selling your shop, you will be a lot freer now, but don't get too involved, I am working almost as much as before, for no pay, but i am enjoying it a lot and also doing good for the environment by propagating a lot of native plants.

I was just kidding, not changing name. Yeah, the closing has gone really quick and smooth. Such a blessing and huge relief!

You're so right, Josephine. I've been learning my lessons the hard way, but the older I get the easier it gets to say "no". LOL Besides I would much rather give 100 percent of myself to an organization I believe in than spread myself thin among many. And right now my family has my full attention. The simple things like picking my kids up from school has been so much fun.

Dallas, TX

Cocoa, I want to know how you made those candies. they taste very expensive, better than Godiva. Please give me th receipe so I can start practicing for Christmas.
What kind of shop did you have?
Phyllis you responsibilty ended when I received the box. ;)
I sure hope its not raining saturday.

Syvia, I owned a chocolate shop.lol Most of the things I had at Melva's are easier to make with machines, but I'll write down some easy recipes that will go over well for the Holidays.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Sylvia I am just jokin around with ya I know cocoa would help dig it up if we needed too LOL

Dallas, TX

Oh my goodness Cocoa, I thought they look professionally made! Girrrl, why did you give the Chocolate shop? ... with all these chocoholics around. I am doomed! The cleaning lady came last friday, the day before we went to Melva's place. I had to show her my bed before I left, I had to explain all that brown stuff in my bed was Chocolate! Pure Chocolate, do you want to smell it? LOL I had Hershey wrappers everywhere. On my nightstand was about six of those huge bars with nuts and the Symphony have nuts and Toffee! I am so stressed when I get home, all I need is my coffee, ciggies and my chocolate.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

... and Daves Garden Sylvia! LOL

OMG, you kill me, Sylia! You did not tell her to "smell it" ROFLBO

Still working on recipes, takes me forever to write directions, I'm terrible at it!

Mibus...no...no...no.lol

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

what Cocoa your not coming over to day to help me dig???? ROFLMAO

Are you out there today? The way it's looking, I'm thinking of crawling back into my pj's. lol

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)
