Please, an Option of seeing tagged pages in a personal cloud

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Would you please give us a choice of whether to see our personally tagged pages in cloud form or list form?

I personally don't see the point of tagging if it ends up in a list like the favorites did--other than to create a huge cloud for DG as a whole. It takes forever to go though the list, mousing over to see what I tagged it.

The personal cloud was great, and I immediately started using it... tagging posts I wanted to keep, or threads that I thought were important enough to be tagged.... now the only way I can see what I tagged is by using the community tag cloud, and if someone liked my tag name, and added their own, then I have to sift out my tagged posts from the others....

I started tagging recipes, "recipes i want to try", because they were recipes I wanted to try. Others liked that tag I guess, and started tagging their own recipes they wanted to try with "recipes i want to try".... now there are recipes in the tag "recipes I want to try" that I don't want to try even though I created the tag.

Will you PLEASE make list/cloud an OPTION for those of us who love clouds, but not lists?

I 100% agree, takes forever to mouse over to see my tags, defeats the purpose for me. Especially now that my list is long, I want to be able find my tag right away. It's just takes too long the way it is now.

When the list took over, I stopped tagging. In fact I don't even go there now, for all the reasons already given.

This has been mentioned before, and the list was made for I think the request of a couple of people.

It would be interesting to see how many would prefer the cloud, please if you prefer the cloud add your voice here.

I don't like the main cloud at all, too hard on the eyes and most everything I click on isn't what I think it is.

Personally, I prefer the old favourites. But, a personal cloud would work as well.

Cochise, AZ(Zone 8b)

I like the big cloud well enough but would also appreciate my own personal small cloud.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I think it would be nice if there was an option to choose whether you want to view a list or a cloud for your personal tags--everyone has their own preference and that way everyone can be happy.

And, some times it's better to have it one way or the other, depending on what I'm looking for--I like the idea of an option or preference, too.

babble babble babble.....typing without drinking your coffee first is never a good idea, it's confusing to you, it's confusing to others....babble babble babble :D

Hyblaean, we want the personal cloud, not the current list.

I know, coffee just starting to flow here!

Necedah, WI(Zone 4b)

I like the list, but I would like my own cloud, too. I want it all ;)

The problem with the list is that it shows the actual thread name and not the tag. This means I have to try to figure out what was in each thread that I wanted to save rather than seeing a tag that had meaning for me personally.

Since both the list and the cloud are in alpabetical order I have no preference on which is used but I would like to have it show my actual tags.

Melissa_Ohio and Calif_Sue speak my sentiments exactly.

I loved the whole tag system when we 1st started it. Back then I used both the general cloud and the personal cloud but for different purposes. For my purposes, the list is virtually useless because the items are listed and organized by thread names which often bear no relation to the tagged information. The more items I tag, the more disorganized my list becomes making it ever more difficult to sift through the random list in search of a specific tag.

Whereas the general cloud is great for locating information tagged by others, the larger the tag grows the more difficult it becomes to find my personal information buried within it. The tag instructions encourage reuse of existing tag names which makes a lot of sense with respect to the organization of the general cloud; however, as Melissa has already pointed out, this also makes it ever more difficult to sift through the general cloud in pursuit of one's personally tagged information.

As others have mentioned above, I no longer use or even visit my personal cloud, and while I have continued to tag a few items here and there, I must admit to a loss of enthusiasm since I essentially have no way to reliably retrieve the tagged information.

Please, please, please could we have an option to view our tagged information in the cloud form as was originally intended?

This has made tags less useful to me too. I've been saving them instead as bookmarks in my browser where I can rename them and sort them into folders.

I thought we had our own personal cloud. Now I see that we don't. Why not?

Dave changed it

glendale, it happened ages ago, it seems a few people like their old Favourites list, or couldn't get the hang of clouds for some reason. I think some didn't realise the cloud was alphabetical.

The cloud system is for obvious reasons much better, we just want it back but with only our own tagged items and not everyone else's showing on our 'My Info' page tagged items.

Tuscaloosa, AL(Zone 7b)

Well, that's what I get for not keeping track of my tagged pages. I didn't realize it had been changed back to a favorites list. I thought the cloud/tag idea was great because we could put in our own "note" as to why it was saved. Having to mouse over each item to see the tags is not helpful, IMO.

Before my tagged items list gets too long, I'll have to go into each one and go to the browser system like June has been using. I had been using a word doc, but I like June's idea much better.

Sigh...I have that voice in the back of my head....'Dave's not here'...haven't seen him around these parts since he started tackling that behemoth of a project called the auction.

Sue,

I think you're right.

I may be the lone ranger here but personally I don't like the tag system at all. To me it is cluttered and hard to read let alone having to sift through all the tags to find yours.

I have a folder on my desktop with named links to post I like. Easy to find them since I named them and they are ones that are important to me and not someone else...

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

You have your tags on your personal page, no need to sift through the entire cloud. We just want ours in a personal cloud with our personal tags and they can be set so they remain invisible to anyone else.

(Zone 1)

I Love the new Tag system. I don't like the cloud though ... I save all of the ones I want for future reference on my personal page and they are all alphabetized .... very easy to run through to find a particular one I may be looking for.

I would also like the option of a personal cloud, or at the very least, a list by tag name.

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

kaperc I'd be tickled to death with a list by tag name if it has to be in list form. I think that Sue is right.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Yep! My hands get tired having to mouse over ever entry to see the tags.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Farmer Dave has some fencing that he had to repair along with other numerous tasks I am sure but maybe he can quickly give up this fix.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I didn't realize the tags showed up when you mouse over the thread titles! That does help me find what I am looking for. But it would still be easier if I could simply see all the tags in A-Z order and go right to the one I want.

Or, is it possible to do a tag search?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5a)

I thought that was something that was going to come along after we had a big enough cloud for Dave to work with. Would be nice!

I'm with you, though, on my personal tag list I'd really like to see what the tag I used was, rather than the thread name.

***bumping so we don't get lost among the forum requests

Tuscaloosa, AL(Zone 7b)

I thought that originally we started out with a personal cloud, and then people complained that they wanted their "old" list back, so Dave changed it to the way it is now.

Karen

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Yes, that is exactly what happened. We're just asking for a choice, so that those of us who found the cloud useful, and tagged a lot of pages can actually find our tagged pages now with minimal problems.

If you have a lot of pages tagged, look at your list, and tell me how to make heads or tails out of it without resorting to saving on the computer as some have suggested?

Tuscaloosa, AL(Zone 7b)

Melissa,

I agree totally. I would like a choice, too.

Making the clouds into a list improved nothing. The cloud was great, the list is uninformative at the very least. Yep, I've had to go back to saving them in my browser so I can use a name that is meaningful to me.

Karen

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Tags are of no use if you can't go back and find the tagwhether it is in a cloud or a list.!

Tuscaloosa, AL(Zone 7b)

But the original way with tags was easy to use. You didn't have to go to the huge list for the whole site, just your own personal tags list.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

oh, please add me to the personal cloud/ choice of format request! I'd given up on this, and mostly on making tags, and even looking in this forum-glad I stopped by.

Sorry for not getting this earlier; it is now done and you can switch to cloud or list view when you are viewing your own tags.

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

Thank you, Dave! You are the best. We knew that you were busy elsewhere and would be back soon.

Tuscaloosa, AL(Zone 7b)

Thank you very much for helping with this tiny detail considering how busy you've been. We all appreciate it.
