I need a small yet very affordable carpet cleaner. It really needs to work well too LOL. The boys are constantly bringing in yuccky stuff on their shoes and scrubbing by hand is getting really OLD.
Is that H2O Mop any good?
Any ideas?
Good Cheap Carpet Cleaner?
I keep a solution of Oxi Clean and water in a gal jug - 1 cup of Oxi clean to gal of water - and use it on my carpet, floors, - anywhere and everywhere that needs cleaning. Make sure when you mix it that the water is hot so the OC dissolves well. For spots or small places I squirt some on from a squirt bottle, let the solution set and then scrub w/an old tooth brush. If there seems to be excess water I blot that out w/an old towel.
I don't measure the OC and you may find that less works fine for you.

Hey,
do you think I could use Oxy in a carpet cleaning machine?
Or soak the carpet with it then use a machine?
That would get the carpets really super clean I bet.
I'm trying to avoid actually scrubbing on my hands and knees, my poor knuckles are getting scarred from it, LOL.
Literally, there's scars! LOL
I have a smaller Walmart Bissel, think it was about $149.99 when I purchased it and I always use Oxy..so whatever unit you purchase made sure it has a tank that you can add your own liquid to NOT the kind that you have to purchase pre-packed liquid cleaner...
As much as I love my "steam" cleaners, I don't think any of them do a great job and I have one with the built in heater. I don't think they suck up as much water as they put out and I don't think they work as well as the ones you can rent. I usually use the hose attachment and crawl around on the floor. It does a better job and sucks up more of the liquid. The best use I have found for mine is putting Lysol Cleaner in it to clean the hard surface floors.
I've gone through several of the Hoover models and now I have a Bissell Proheat 2 that I like better. I also have a small Dirt Devil Model that is hand held and good for spot cleaning but it does not hold much liquid so has to be emptied often. I also had one of those Swiffer Wet/Dry ones and took it back after one use.
All that said, I think every parent or pet owner needs some type of cleaner like this. LOL
This thread is giving me much needed info so when we get one I can get a good one.
Than ks guys!!!
