I'm just now seeing this thread. I live close to Madisonville and I have two daughters in Centerville. We may try and come to the RU. I would love to if I can get away. Sounds like a great idea!
Central Texas near I-45 Any interest in a RU?
I don't have many plants, however, I will try to see what I can do.
DANCEY!!!!! Oh, please try real hard. I'll look for you a White Duranta & bring it to you!
I still work the same place & still have your note above my head here, for how long has it been?
This elephant never forgets!!! I just loose my notes!!!
:~)
Wildskygal,
It's not just about what you bring. It's who you meet, what you learn and how much fun you will have. You won't go home empty handed even if you bring nothing but yourself.
There will be little bittie starts of plants from seeds and little bittie starts from cuttings and bigger plants because too many germanated and grew etc. There will be people begging you to please take something. You will (I guarantee) take their "something" and then you will be addicted like the rest of us. LOL
Come for all of the above and come so we can meet you. Oh yea, don't forget the good food we'll all bring. There will be something you will like for sure.
Charlene
Charlene, it looks like you have been fully inducted into the RU brotherhood already, I am proud of you for enthusiasm and willingness to help others.
Josephine.
Thank you Josephine, I'm afraid that the RU bug is very contagious and I have surely come down with a big case of it. I plan on exposing everyone I know to this bug and hope they all catch it.
Josephine, you will have to come early or stay late so you can go walking in the woods. I have a feeling that you are the kind of person that would love doing just that. I am sure you will find something to dig, so bring your gloves. If you forget them, I have extra LOL! I have shovels of every size type and description. There are trees, wildflowers, and goodness knows what else you might find. There are always enough of the tee-niny little trees that you can start a forest with.
If I can talk DH into hooking up the tractor to the lowboy, we can all take a ride in the woods if you want to. Nothing exciting for a country person, but city folk might find it enjoyable. I just have 54 acres, but the fellow behind me has over a 100 acres and we could ride through his if we want to take a longer ride. I'll ask him in advance, but I know he will say yes to us. I'm sure he'll let us feed his catfish, and they are huge and come right up to the food that we throw in.
Bring a backhoe if anyone wants yaupons, cause we have a yaupon thicket. DH will gladly give any of those to anyone who wants 'em.
Oh, yea I forgot to add, lots of dayflowers to see if you come early! LOL
Charlene
Thank you Charlene, it sounds great, I love to go walking in the woods and look at all the little and big plants. I am going to do my best to make it. You are a sweetheart.
Josephine.
Carla, you are welcome to have another one. I am going to try to get some cuttings of some that have berries on them. They still have their berries. If I can get out there b4 they are gone, we'll at least have some cuttings to try and root.
On the ones from the RU, there is no way to know because I pulled or dug them up as little sprouts with roots. No berries were left on at that time.
I hope you can come to the RU.
Charlene
Hey Smockette!!
Yep you've had that note for several years. lol I really am going to try and come to the RU. It's not too far away. I would love to have the White Duranta. My blue one died. The summer my Mom had bypass surgery I lost a lot of my plants due to lack of time/care for them.
I may not have much to bring since I'm in the rejuvenating stage of my gardens. My Mom was very sick for a long time so all my gardening had to come to a standstill.
Hey, girl, np! I fell on Jan 6, broke my shoulder & didn't work for a month, except for payroll & someone had to drive me.
My new 26' GH had about 5' of plants & the rest was supposed to be seedlings & cuttings. It is still EMPTY! Life happens!!! ROTFLOL.
Just another plan not carried out but I keep making them. lol
I confirmed today that we have White but not for sure on the Blue. I'll ck Monday!
You know it isn't the plants you bring! It is seeing your smiling face & the plants that make you smile!
How is that for words of wisdom! lol
Can't wait to see you & just sit down & chat!
:~)
Count me in. Will have to look around and see what I can bring.
Hello Posie, I am glad to see you are coming to the RU. I look forward to meeting you.
Charlene
I should be able to make this one. (Yay!) I have a few things started and was not looking forward to keeping them until fall. Including yesterday's just potted up (at least 10) Mexican Marigold and Texas Betony.
Charlene, could I possibly tag along for walking in the woods? That's the kind of thing I also love to do.
Of course you can go for a walk with us. I would love to have you walk with us. I am so glad you can join us.
Charlene
I would love to walk in the Woods!!! don't know what a Yaupon is though!
Count me in for the walk. Do you mind if I bring my binoculars and look for birds, as well as neat plants?
Carla
Carla, I will probably be doing the same. I always have my binoc's around my neck during my walks in the woods (usually preserves). :)
Looks like everyone will be bringing their hiking boots. That is great!
Charlene
Oohh....I can try out my new binoculars and bird ID book!
:) Kim

Charlene
Good job, Charlene.
Thank you Josephine.
Charlene
Is this the Buffalo in Leon County? I mapquested Buffalo TX and there is apparently 4 of them or is there an address on here and I'm just missing it?
Debbie
Sunday the 8th is the AHS show and sale in Houston. I'll be thinking about y'all. Have a good time.
Anne
Charlene, you just came to the RU in College Station. How long of a drive was it? Any idea of mileage? I'll be only a maybe at this point. I may have a conflict.
I didn't check the milage, but it only took about an hour. I hope you get to come.
Charlene
Ok I' ve been thinking on this and if things work out gas wise I'll plan on coming.
not sure what I have to bring for trading.
I do know I have sassafras trees coming up all over and we have little cedars and pines.
and I have 17 rose bushes I could take cuttings off of but have not be successful in rooting them yet.
Cocoa will have to help me remember what I have since she looked at them today when we went to the plant sale in Tyler.
Just remind me closer to time to take some cuttings of stuff to bring.
Charlene,
I have the same question as Debbie. I get four counties when doing a mapquest search. What is the zip code?
Sheila--thank you for noticing that I had posted
I will get a map posted for you. For now you can google using zip code 75831. That should help out considerably.
Charlene
That will work for me, it was just confusing the way it came up at first.
edited to say...Thanks for adding the updates in the first post Charlene. That is always so helpful.
