Indoor Blooms Part Two

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I didn't see until now just how long the first thread had become. (Coming from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/795123/) I apologize for the lengthy download time.

Let's share some more blooms and blossoms as we await the arrival of Spring.

I have just a few buds on my jasmine, but a few is better than none! I think it just wasn't cold enough for it to set buds this year, but I'm learning... next year we'll see what happens. No other blooms right now... except for the orchid, of course. I expect that one to keep going for a while.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

I kept forgetting to bring up the Amaryllis. Finally rescued the poor things last week, they are sprouting now, so even my neglect can't kill them. Hope to have some blooms soon.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I brought my amarillis a few weeks ago, and its growing well. Last year I pollinated it, and got seeds! I planted a few and I have three babies now one year old! This coming fall I will let all four go dormant and a year from now I should have four blooming :-)

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

hmmm...I really need to give that a try

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Great stuff!
I'll have to try that, too ... one of these years

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Yeah . . . it was REALLY easy - and I just planted a few seeds - and traded the rest :-)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

this one is from last year... I gave it to my honeys mom and she more or less drowned it and it never bloomed... she gave it back to me.... didn't chill it because I thought it was a gonner ... and here it is

Nice!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Very pretty!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks... I now have learned you can't tell someone to make sure you keep it moist... if needed give it a little water everyday... to someone who doesn't keep plants

OOPS

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

onewish1, nice save and comeback. I have 'Miracle' out now, which is a very deep red and 'Pizzazz' is still trying but kind of stunted. I forced some Hyacinths which I loved and will do more for next year. Off to Fl tomorrow and will miss a few hippeastrums blooming. Drat. But I can't wait for a nice swim. Patti

The hyacinth is called, if correct, 'Red Magic'. It is not red. But I thought it was lovely. Patti

Nice - have fun in FL!! Get some rest. Go see the Mets play.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Victor, Mets? Don't think so. We are going to see the Red Sox vs Minn twins. But actually I would go to any game that I could. I can't wait to go birding and maybe see Donnybrook, but she sounds like she and her DH have caught the terrible stuff that is going around. I need to keep clear of anything contagious as my immune system is weak. I hate flying and was thinking of buying a mask, but all that bad air in the plane probably makes that ineffective. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe you can borrow the Patriots' video camera and record the Twins dugout! Hee hee. Take Airborne or Emergen-C with you.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Good idea, about the Airborne/Em.C., but wrong Boston team for the video camera work. I have some good connections to the team, so maybe they will just tell me the signs and I can tell you. Now if I could have seen this guy play. Patti

My newest acquisition, a Cymbidium orchid. One of the mighty mouse varieties I think.

Beautiful, Tommy! Patti - wasn't he the most famous Yankee?!!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Tommy, yummy, and is that a Grammatophyllum/cymbidium cross called 'Lovely Melody' behind it ? I love the greenish yellow color.

Victor, You got me. I will let Roger Clemens be a total Yankee too. I think my plants could bulk up on some of his juice. I miss skinny little Pedro. Patti

Poughkeepsie, NY(Zone 6a)

Patti,
The one behind it is a Maureen Carter.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wonderful blooms Patty & Tommy

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Very pretty pics Patti and Tommy. The orchid is taller than me I think. A nice green jungle to have this time of year.

Poughkeepsie, NY(Zone 6a)

Mine is on a 3 foot tall plant stand but I'd say the plant from top of pot up is about 3 1/2 feet tall.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

nice orchid tommy. Do you 'window sill' your orchids? There was a DG article about that.

Poughkeepsie, NY(Zone 6a)

Saw/read the article, yes in the fall/winter I do. After last frost they go ouside and they love it...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

My little rose bush that I bought a few weeks ago (Jan's fault) is doing well and giving me more blooms on this snowy day. I guess I should send Jan a thank you note for pushing roses on us. It really has been a bright spot in a very dreary snow filled day!

Beautiful, Celeste!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks Victor, it brings some sunshine into the house.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm waiting on this to bloom next..it better hurry it can't get much taller! As you can see by the rose in the bottm right, this Amaryilis is a really tall and lanky one.

very pretty Pixie... can't wait for the amaryllis

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Nice, mine always get really tall too. I always thought it was not enough light. Yours looks a couple of weeks ahead of mine and you have a baby too. I wish I had remembered mine sooner, could sure use a flower to look at with all this gloomy weather.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Ooooh! Gorgeous! Beautiful! I love the Amaryllis Patti, the orchid Tommy and the rose Celeste!! Nice! My jasmine put out two little flowers, but I'm not complaining. They smell delicious.

What's happening to my gardenia? Its leaves are turning yellow - yes, I know about needing acid soil, and it get (occasionally) fertilizer specifically for acid loving plants - and I try not to water too much. Can there be any other reason?

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Lack of humidity. Check for spider mites. They LOVE gardenias.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Ah . . .lack of humidity - that might be it. I will start misting today.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Harper, such pretty little flowers on the Jasmine. I'd love to be able to smell it!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I'm so happy. The plant is supposed to have flowers all over, but I don't think it got cold enough to set buds, so I only got two. I have a plan already for next year. The smell is awesome even for just those two flowers.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I have two jasmine that bloom twice in the summer. Exquisite scent!
